OVERVIEW

A semi-hollow electric with a string thru bridge and retro appointments.

The semi-hollowbody Ibanez AMF73 Electric Guitar combines modern electronics with a retro style. Equipped with a flattop double-cutaway semi-hollow maple body, a set mahogany neck, and a 22-fret rosewood fretboard, the AMF73 guitar has Ibanez ACH humbucking pickups with ceramic magnets for a clean sound with a bit of overdrive.

The guitar's fixed bridge with a string-thru tail add tuning stability and tonal sustain. Other Ibanez AMF73 appointments include an eye-catching pickguard design, 60's style chicken-head control knobs, dot inlays, and chrome hardware.

Comments about Ibanez AMF73 Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Starting off this guitar is goreous. The wood finish is just magnificent and really makes this guitar stand out when compared to other semi-hollows, and other Ibanez gutiars for that matter.
The feel; its wonderful, its smooth and light. But its not so light that it feels cheap, its the kinda guitar you can stand up and rock out with for hours and not feel fatigued. The neck is great, the fret board is also a one-of-a-kind. Fantastic honestly! The neck is so sweet its one of my favorite parts of the guitar.
Now the meat and potatoes; the sound. Whats a guitar if its dead? Well this guitar is wonderful. Has several tone controls and a volume switch. One of the awesome parts about this guitar is when its played clean. Its so crisp and its pickups just sing. But, turn on the overdrive and she can throw down some serious riffs.
This guitar is perfect for a budget minding individual who wants both a classy and great sounding guitar. In my opinion its definately a classic rock guitar, sounds amazing when playing Journey, Styx, Kansas, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Areosmith, and even Metallica sounds great! But definately its not limited to playing other stuff, Foo Fighters and what not sounds awesome!

Now I have to be fair and say some draw backs... Ha! Honestly its perfect for the price and its excellent quality! Its a huge seller at the music store I work at, in the last month we have had to order 4 more and we just can't keep them in stock!

Ibanez

Comments about Ibanez AMF73 Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is a truly beautiful guitar. I went to the local music store, and started picking up guitars from teles to strats to sgs. The sales guy walked out with this and it unique look and size immediatley caught my eye. The pups are very nice for stock, and it has a warm, deep, tone. Changing around the knobs will get any tone you wish out of this guitar. Great!

Modded for fusion

Comments about Ibanez AMF73 Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Bought one of these locally and dropped in a set of Carvin's Holdsworth p'ups. In terms of sound and playability it rivals the Signature H2 guitar: great semi-hollow tone, singing sustain from the p'ups, two vol/two tone control, and a slimmer, friendlier neck. All for about one-fourth the cost of the H2 (which is a fine guitar).

A ton for the money

By Ed-mlDmG

Comments about Ibanez AMF73 Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is amazing for it's cost. The construction quality is excellent, as is the acoustic tone, even the pickups sound great. I thought they would have to go as soon as I got the guitar, but now I can wait a little while before installing some EMG's. The quality of this guitar is far superior to anything else in it's price range, and well above it. I played PRS's import semi-hollow, and this guitar is leaps and bounds above it, at almost half the price. This guitar is a tremendous value and simply a great sounding, great playing guitar.

Tobacco Flat Finish

Comments about Ibanez AMF73 Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I had an Epiphone Joe Pass but had to return it due to a low fret on the high e string. I got this guitar w/ a hardcase instead of a new Joe. It's sorta cheap looking but has alot of mojo. I never liked Gotti guitars anyway. I love the retro look and how it resembles a Ricky. The black model looks like a Danelectro, but I opted for the tobacco flat finish. The gloss finish made it look even cheaper. It's a darker finish than pictured here, but I prefer it that way. The bridge p.u. is nice and hot and the neck is warm. My only gripe is that the middle position is not distinct enough from the neck. You have to fiddle with the tone and volume controls to get a decent sound. I'll probably swap 'em for a SH-4 JB(bridge) and a SH-2 Jazz(neck). I have had this configuration before and the middle position sounded much like position 4 on a strat. It's pretty easy to hear unplugged and b/c it's semi hollow you don't get feedback problems. Overall A Good Deal.
