OVERVIEW

Designed to be practical with features designed and tested by performing artists.

One of the most respected Ibanez models developed during the 1970s was the Artist. The Ibanez AR320 Electric Guitar is a result of the commitment to create the state-of-the-art in electric guitars. Rather than utilizing exotic gimmicks and useless frills, every feature of an Ibanez Artist Series is designed to be practical. Every feature is researched, designed, tested and re-tested with the help of leading artists.

Featuring a mahogany body with a flamed maple top, the Artist's symmetrical double-cutaway body style was a first in the production guitar world. It's slim and comfortable 3pc Maple set-in neck with smooth heel design, allows for high position access. Ibanez's biggest leap forward, the tri-tone switching system, will continue to be appreciated by today's player. It is a unique configuration that opens up the number of pickup/tone possibilities. Regardless of the setting, the Super 58s pack this axe with a rich tonal palette. Gorgeous old school pearl/abalone block inlays make for a path back to one of rock's most dynamic chapters.

Comments about Ibanez AR320 Electric Guitar:

Beautiful guitar (I got the cherry sunburst) that plays really nicely, although not as solid as the 70's Artists. The bad news is the pickups aren't as loud as most humbuckers and are very bright. almost like single coils. The tri sound switches work but the tone is so thin to me that I doubt I'll ever use anything but full-on hunbucker mode. It took some getting used to the tone of this guitar because of the brightness and I'm rolling my tone knob back to 3 or 4 to compensate for the high treble output but now I love the snappiness and am having a hard time putting this guitar down! Theae guitars play beautifully with a nice wide neck and are much lighter than most Les Paul style guitars. The electrinics work fine but the pots are the small ones, although the solder connections are very clean. I'd say buy one if you can get a good deal or have the cash to spend. You'll enjoy it.

Comments about Ibanez AR320 Electric Guitar:

when I took it out of the box, I must admit that this was the best and most flawless finish Ive ever seen come out of china. neck is a hair thinner profile than a 60s less paul. the neck I received was very bowed , but im sure it would have straightened with a twist or two of the truss rod nut (but I sent it back instead)minimal fret buzz, but it was a bit annoying.the hardware was sturdy but plating was cheap (you can tell) now the sound,,,this is where things get sticky. I found the three way switches did not vary sound as much in clean or dirty mode as I would have liked. the total sound was somewhere in between a les paul with pafs and a paul with soapbars. a bit of snappy funk to it. all in all, even though I sent the one I received back ,because of the bow in the neck, it is a solid value.depending on what your needs are

Arrived in one quick hurry without special handling. Considerately packaged without being a puzzle to unwrap. Flawless out of the box and ready for me to "booger it up" with a Fishman Power Bridge.

liked everything but neck heavy and the strap button should be located center back to compensate for heavy neck.

Comments about Ibanez AR320 Electric Guitar:

I bought my first Artist in the 90's and it became my favorite to record with. The last Artist I bought was about 2003 or so, and it has proven to be an excellent sounding, good feeling, and sharp looking guitar. Both Artists, for some reason, needed the frets to be dressed because they are "sharp" and are hard on the fretting fingers, but once the frets are dressed, these become one of the fastest easiest guitars to play. Can barely put it down - have been known to practice for hours straight - really, a nice guitar to have.

Comments about Ibanez AR320 Electric Guitar:

I really liked the tone of the guitar, it is excellent. The only thing with this guitar and other Ibanez guitars I owned s that there are sharp frets. I would expect that from lower guitars but not medium range guitars. I recommend the guitar, but know that you might have to file the frets or return, other than that, it is excellent the tone is amazing and the pickups are versatile and beautiful, a very unique tone you would not get in a Gibson. All in all I recommend it. And the finish is beautiful.

Comments about Ibanez AR320 Electric Guitar:

Well made copy of the iconic 80's guitar I remember. I had to do lots of set up though. Neck adjust, intonation, and the saddles won't move, I needed to oil and get them moving again. Typical China made tuning machines are poor, and will need changing.

Comments about Ibanez AR320 Electric Guitar:

I found this at a bit higher price at a local music store, got 'em to come down a bit. It is very good for the Bob Weir/Grateful Dead stuff, which I enjoy playing. I agree with Pioneer of Disaster that the little switches aren't super obvious, or rather, humbucker to single coil is good, but the series/parallel thing is rather subtle. This has a little more chunky edge than a Les Paul, and is nice for the clean chording and space funk, if you know what I mean. Also, it is very quiet and easy to play, and very good looking (I can use all the help I can get!). It has that classic West Coast hippie band look, without all the Alembic-style goodies that would be a whole lot of money more. You can certainly play lead on it, but it's my Bobby guitar mostly, with a good chunky attack and a little twang if you need it.
