Big archtop tone for little bucks.

The Ibanez Artcore AF75 Electric Guitar has a fully bound, all-maple hollow body that provides tight resonance without feedback. The Ibanez AF75 is a true full-hollowbody guitar (no soundblock) perfect for that muted jazz tone and fully flexible for everything from alt rock to pounding punk. Mahogany set neck with bound rosewood fretboard and pearl block inlay is a delight to the digits. ACH1 humbucker at the neck and ACH2 at the bridge provide a beefy, quiet signal with pronounced mids.

So many nice things have been said about this guitar, I'll just sum up my experience.
I knew I would need a full hollowbody for recording, for a traditional jazz sound, but seems I used this guitar for everything, every style.
Excellent for chording, because it renders great definition.
A solidbody with long sustain will mush the chords together.
Excellent neck, textbook hollow body archtop construction.

I have been playing for about 40 years. Up until about 15 years ago I was playing full time. When you play for a living you generally have to abandon the idea that you will always be playing only the type of music you like. To pay the bills you have to be a "Jack-of-all-trades" player who can work in many styles. Playing in various styles usually requires a number of different guitars that will each deliver a variety of sounds. One night you are playing classic rock at a shot and beer bar and the next day you put on a tuxedo for a job playing some light jazz and standards for a wedding (they pay sooooo good).Having aquired many different guitars over years has been a real blessing. I own an early 90's Epiphone Sheraton, several Fender Strats, a Tele, 1976 Ibanez Les Paul, a 1981 Ibanez AM-50 and two nice Ibanez accoustics. As you can see I am a longtime Ibanez fan. If I only played one style of music, I would own one or two guitars that were perfect for that one style and spend a couple thousand on a top of the line guitar, but there has always been a need to compromise. I only buy good solid guitars that are reasonably priced, sound good and play well. I leave the high priced collector guitars to those that can really appreciate them and afford them. The one type of guitar I didn't own, was a real hollow body electric for those mellow "jazz" tones for jobs in more intimate rooms like lounges and restaurants and recording sessions that require that sound. I always dreamed of owning an Ibanez George Benson modal but the price is way out of my league. This Ibanez AF-75 has been the perfect solution for me. It is very affordable, beautiful to look at and sounds incredible. It may not be the best guitar out there for hardcore jazz players, but it is perfect for my needs. All I can say is go to a store and check it out. You'll be amazed. It may not be a sound that works for everyone but it exceeded by expectations.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Excellent playability. Excellent overall workmanship. Note, the colors depicted for this guitar are not very accurate. The guitar is much redder than the picture. It is much nicer than the picture shows. The only issue I have is a mechanical vibration when playing the G string at around the 12th fret. It is not fret buzz, and I can't exactly locate it, but seems to be coming from maybe inside the neck pickup. I have read other complaints of this mystery "rattle" from plenty of other users. It is not audible through the amp, though. Only from the guitar itself. This is not a major issue.

I play through a GR55 and the GK3 pickup easily mounted on the floating bridge. I like the sound of the Ibanez pickups so well, I don't even use the bluesy GR55 model sounds I used to use, anymore.

It is not very good for playing slide. The radius of the fingerboard is more than what I am used to. I can only bridge about 2 strings without buzz, but that may be more of a problem with my expertise at slide guitar.

Overall, this is a bargain.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have played for over 45 years, played in working country and 50's rock bands and usually played solid bodies and semi-hollow bodied guitars.I began looking at Ibanez guitars because I could not help but notice the beauty and quality craftsmanship that they all had.I really love the sound and the playability of the AF 75.
I still own several guitars, but the AF75 is still my favorite

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Kyle with customer service is awesome and the reason I have a NEW Af 75 and not a used one. thank Kyle, and the guitar shipped the day I bought it and arrived 5 days later.
right out of the box it played beautifully. first impression was how pretty it is. the finish is good and there are no flaws in the finish or binding.
the neck is a little thin for my taste but takes no time at all to get used to. no fret buzz, but then we all know that that is usually corrected with a setup. but, there was no setup needed on mine. no sharp edges. comes with flatwounds, 10's. I may replace them later with 11's but I kinda like the flatwounds on this guitar.
there is no block in the body so you have to get the right amp/guitar settings to keep the feedback at bay. I play mostly strats and teles, so I love that SSS coil sound. but, I also have an Ibanez AS 73(semi hollow) and wanted a full hollowbody. being so impressed with the AS I went for the AF and I am not disappointed.
this guitar is great for that mellow jazzy sound but can get bitey and cut through the noise.
a neighbor remarked how good the humbuckers on my Gibson sounded. that's testimony right there.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is a all around hollowbody guitar that is good for all kinds of music. It does not get any better than that. I could buy other brands that are more money, but why bother. Sometimes you buy a brand that is just too much money and it does not play or sound as good as you would think. You get what you pay for and this hollowbody is well worth the price and then some. Good job IBANEZ!

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I've owned many (more expensive) hollowbody electrics from Epiphone and Gretsch. This one has the sound and playability I've been looking for. The tone is dead on, even without flatwounds! The quality of craftsmanship is all there. The only downside is a slight buzz from the tailpiece when I play a chord using harmonics at the 12th fret... but you can't hear it through the electronics, so I probably won't get it fixed. For intimate settings this baby really delivers. If you're looking for a quality jazzbox at an affordable price, get the Ibanez AF75. Full disclosure: I did put a Tonerite on it for a week and it really improved the ability to pull individual notes with volume and sustain.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about a year ago and think it is an amazing instrument, especially when the cost is considered. I have another Ibanez Artcore, a AS73, and I don't know how Ibanez can build such a beautifly crafted instruments, that play so well, and sell for such amazing prices. They are beautifully crafted, far beyond their price range. As much as I love the AS73, which is a beautiful and fine playing guitar, this little Ibanez AF75 has won my heart. I play and sing with a 5 piece local band at clubs performing classic/southern rock and country, and at jam sessions with other bands, and this guitar more than meets my needs. The neck is fast and smooth, the electronics sound great and once the intonation was set and the bridge squared, it stays in tune for hours of hard play. Friends pick up this guitar and are knocked over by it's light weight and ease of play. It fits in a classical guitar sized case, so it's easy to move around. I play .011/.049 jazz/blues nickle round wound strings on it, and it has a splendid voice. I have other guitars that cost many times as much as this Ibanez, but when the phone rings, and my friends want me to head out to a jam session, this is the guitar I pick up as I head for the door. You can't go wrong with any Ibanez guitar, and the AF75 is proof positive of how much bang you can get for your buck.
