first off i have owned just about every kind of guitar there is. this guitar is the BEST guitar you WILL EVER PLAY and its only a little over 4 hundred bucks. i have owned and played guitars priced at 5 times this guitar and i would choose this one hands down everytime. action is great, tone is outstanding and you cant beat the price with stick! you will NOT be disapointed!
I use this guitar in a post punk/metal band (with a Traynor YCV40 and EH Big Muff) and it puts out some crushing tone. I use the bridge pick-up and it sounds too sweet for words. Just looking at the rig you wouldn't expect to get these tones, but this guitar is so easy to play, is built solid and sounds fantastic on every note. Out of all the guitars I own, have owned or have played this one rates up near the top of the best all around guitar. I would buy another right away if something was to happen to it... LOVE this guitar!!!
I have owned this guitar for a year now and have a lot of stage experience with it. At first I was not happy with this guitar as I favored the strat, but after my playing improved and I got a better amp I realized how good this guitar really is. The stock humbuckers do not need to be changed, I was suprized at how good they sounded. This guitar is absolutly beautiful and I have never expeirienced any feedback problems even on the bridge pickup. Listen the times have changed and guitars dont have to be $2000 to be good. The feel of the neck can rival any guitar on the market. For the price you should at least give this instrument a second look, you wont be disappointed.
I had searched high and low for my first electric guitar for about a year steady. I tried high end stuff, low end stuff, and everything in between. From hollows to semi-hollows to solids I mean I tried it all. I finally decided to pull the trigger on this one. Great choice, couldn't be happier with the value of this guitar. Really a quality piece for the price. Absolutely beautiful guitar, light weight, and well made. I play mostly blues with some Black Crowes, Allmans, and GD mixed in. Very versatile sound from clean to dirty. The pickups are OK for factory, maybe in the next year or so I'll upgrade to some Seymour Duncan's or some Gibson '57's, but the stock ones are still good.
Don't let made in China deceive you, once you see it up close you will treat it as china. Requires better tuners/saddle/tremolo but the pick ups are alright. Way, way, way better than the Epi Dot. Excellent sustain for wailing. Resonant as any other semi-hollow. Best use of a paycheck ever! I keep it slung low and the strings hevy. But this girl will do it anyway you want it done!
I own one, and this is really my 3rd Ibanez, the first two were the original Ibanez semi-hollow bodies, which had more "neck tilt" then the newer AS-83. I like the neck tilt to be as straight as possible that a bridged guitar can have, so this is an asset and the neck is simply great. Do I like my Ibanezes? Heck Yes ! I have three now and I am now collecting them as these guitars are well worth the dough. I grew up on the Gibson 335, and the originals were nice and at one time they only cost $350 bucks new. And that was in 1965. The quality was exceptional, but today, hey, these Ibanez guitars are a favorite in my collections. My main guitar I play is this same model the AS-83, and I simply love this guitar. I have many others, why I don't know but I have been playing Les Paul stuff and Beatles since 1955. Long Time. But no guitar makes you famous, belive me. How you play makes you famous. And just get a decent guitar and spend more on the amp. I have now owned 136 guitars, and out of all of them, I feel the Ibanez is about as good as anything in my collection. BUY ONE, and keep it as they will be higher priced in the future, and don't worry about "made in China", as mine is, this guitar is flawless and as well built as any guitar I have ever owned, and I am frankly impressed with the quality I am seeing in Ibanez products ! I have many American guitars that are NOT as good in finish as this Ibanez, so I just don't see how they do it and make any money! Remember...practice practice and practice.. In my bands we had five hour practices three nights a week, and it is really work to get it right, so when you get your band together, remember to keep it a business...Make MONEY ! Best Wishes and thanks to this company, worlds best guitar store ! Dan Callahan- ( 50th year of playing guitar I got blisters on my fingers ! Ouch !)
I was drawn in by the aesthetics of the AS83. I was looking for a guitar that was somewhat individual and not typical. Well I played it and found my wife and said I want that. The guitar is the guitar there isn't alot to be said. I play it through Pignose tube amp with a Crybaby, tube screamer and occasionally a chorus pedal. Since getting the AS83 though I find that the chorus is useless and I get a great sound from it. This is really the maximum I'd spend or as my wife would say allowed to spend on a guitar and I couldn't be happier. If you want a guitar that looks great and sounds great and is under $600 go with this one.
If there is any doubt in your mind as to whether or not you should buy this guitar, buy it! This is an amazingly priced guitar. It plays beautifully. I was used to playing a lower-rate guitar through a processor to get a nice warm tone, but with this baby's humbuckers, all I need to do is plug it right in and play. Great feel too!
I purchased this guitar used and had one of the machine heads go bad so I replaced all of them with Schallers. Great move! The fit and finish is awesome. The hardware leaves a bit to be desired, but what do you want for the price? The Gibson ES-335 sells for over 5 times the price! I plan to install Gibson 57 classic and classic plus pickups next. My goal is to have an ES-335 sounding machine for far less money.
This is a great buy for anyone, it sounds great and plays nice and smooooth. Really looks great too, i didnt know whether to frame it or play it!! I didnt have to break the bank buying it either.
