I've played guitar, particularly electric, for over 45 years. In that time I've owned Fender, Rickenbacker, Gibson, Harmony, Aria, Hagstrom, Ibanez, et al. My style is a mix of Classical, Memphis Blues, Jazz, Rock, and Pop. At my stage of the game, my instruments are well maintained and not subject to the abuse of gigging and travel. Today my work is primarily writing and arranging (studio work) and the occasional live performance. Strings: Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (10-13-17-26-36-46). Tuning: Standard, Slide- Open D, E, and G. I've owned played an Ibanez 93 for ~2 years. I say all this so that the reader may calibrate the value of my words regarding the AS93.The fit, finish, playability, and sound quality are definitely in the league of Gibson Les Pauls and Ric 330's, if not a tad better. Certainly, the workmanship exhibits superior attention to detail. Great for my style of play- the pickups are probably a little too mild (not hot enough) for a diehard metal player. Then again, in my estimation a semi-hollow or hollow body isn't likely to be a metal player's first from the outset. The bridge could be machined better. The tuners are mainstream, a notch or two below the high-line models such as Gotoh and Grover. Nonetheless, I've experienced no problems with either. One of the pickups does emit a slight mechanical buzz, not uncommon in humbuckers with covers. The buzz isn't picked up by the electrics and is only noticeable in aggressive string attack while playing sans amp.A Strat or Tele player probably wouldn't be thrilled by the instrument. By nature, it's decidedly more of a Gibson or Gretsch player's guitar. Also, not a "sofa" guitar. The instrument is best played while standing or seated in an armless chair. My biggest complaint: choice of colors- I would have preferred Cherry Sunburst or Tobacco Sunburst. All in all, not a cheap, bottom end guitar. It's a great professional quality instrument that takes care of business.

A Decent Entry level/Budget Guitar. That is where the buck stops. I have been an avid Ibanez player for many years. Post Japan era, I have found many lower mid priced guitars to have declined in quality. So here's the scoop. The overall finish of the body, neck, headstock and fingerboard is very nice. The inlays are also strikingly appealing. However after just around an hour or so of playing I noticed the gold plating to be wearing where my palm rests. After this I also noticed some discoloration on many areas of the hardware which I thought to be tarnish. Upon trying to polish it up a bit I came to the conclusion that I was only begining to wear through the gold colored plating. ??? ... Wow!!! Another review mentioned something similar. I did get an awsome deal on this guitar so I'll keep it. I may eventually replace the hardware, or not. I am definitely going to have the frets polished to remove some very slight rough areas that affect bending notes. As another reviewer mentioned you might have to have some work done to get the guitar up to your own standards. The electronics are mediocre to say the least. It has mini pots which I find, tend wear and get scratchy much faster than the old style full size pots. Of course this remains to be seen. The pickups are okay but if I have this guitar for any period of time I will eventually replace them. I would have given 5 stars but inferior hardware is a minus and fretwork is another minus so 3 stars may be a little harsh but that is what I am rating. Consider it a high 3 or a 3.5 star rating.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AS93 Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar as I wanted a Semi-hollow and wasn't really interested in spending a fortune. Prior I played some Gibson's, Epi's (Sheraton II) and this sweet lil thing. I can honestly say, the Ibanez won out. Don't get me wrong the ES-335 was nice, but for the dough, no thank you. My Ibanez will hold it's own against a higher priced model any day. The Super 58 Customs in here are so smooth I can't believe they put them in a guitar at this price point. Keep in mind that as this is a Maple guitar, it tends to be pretty bright. Dial your amp in a little darker and you are ready to go. I have gigged and recorded with this guitar and I can honestly say that it is PRO quality. Purchased mine in Blue Burst and the fit and finish are immaculate. Even cream binding around the F-Holes. If you are looking for a semi-hollow without the massive price tag for the name, go for the Ibanez. You can not go wrong with this guitar.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AS93 Electric Guitar:

This is the first guitar I have purchased online, and I was skeptical. But it arrived in pristine condition, the quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail was more than a pleasant surprise. The setup was well above average; decent action, intonation, no buzz, etc. It sounds great, I am not disappointed. Although the Musician's Friend description says it comes with ACH pickups, the new AS93s come with the Super 58 Customs found on the John Scofield, Pat Metheny, and George Benson signature models (MF should update their product description). I'm very happy with this purchase from Musician's Friend (I charged it to my MF Platinum card and I have 18 months to pay with 0% interest, free shipping too!). The quality of this guitar is such that it could only increase in value in the years to come.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AS93 Electric Guitar:

I bought this model guitar about ten years ago, when it was near their top of the line (the 103 was top), and the guitar was a few years old already judging by the serial number. The arch-top has aged beautifully, giving me a great tone that keeps getting better.

I do see a few differences with the newer models. Mine did not come with a pickguard (love that look), the knobs and some of the other hardware has changed, and it came with a hardshell case then. I think the aesthetics have come down a bit along with the price. The 'stage presence' just isn't the same, from what I see IMHO.

I can say my guitar delivers about 85-90% of the sound of a Gibson 335, for what was then about a third of the price. With the new changes, I can't say what the sound of the new model is, but it's certainly worth picking up and trying out. I thought about swapping out the pickups but everyone that's played it - including my guitar tech (who would make money swapping them out) told me I'd be crazy to. This guitar delivers.

In person, the blue looks more of a sea-green (very nice), unless it's under very bright lights (like concert lamps) where the blue comes out to play.

The neck - smooth as silk to play, and strong as a rock. I use 12-56 wound G strings (pure nickel) and the neck stays in standard tuning without any issues at all - I just needed a new nut put in to accomodate the larger strings. Once it's in tune it stays there. I once it hanging on my wall for two months while I played my strat and SG - tuning was spot on when I came back to it.

As far as music goes, this can play just about anything, but really shines in the blues/jazz area. I don't know how well it could could do hard metal, but it would be interesting to try. The neck is certainly fast enough.

If you can get your hands on one in a Guitar Center give it a try for a while and see how it holds up and looks in your hands. You may be surprised how much guitar you're getting.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AS93 Electric Guitar:

Like other Ibanez products I've handled, this guitar is just solid. The fit and finish are mostly top-notch. No blemishes, and the binding, frets, etc. are all solid.

I did take some setting up in order to get reasonable action / pickup height / eliminate fret buzz, but that's just a normal part of new guitar experience.

This thing plays nice and sounds just like I would expect it should.

Overall, a nice guitar, well worth the price.

            Noteable pros are:
            - Build quality
            - Tuners are excellent
            - Pickups--from my research these are "Special Custom '58s" sound great

            Noteable issues:
            - "G" string appears to go out of tune easily; perhaps the nut needs attention, not sure
            - The vol/tone knobs feel a little cheap (slight off-axis wobble when turned, plus the plastic feels cheap), though they otherwise do their job fine.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AS93 Electric Guitar:

Had to give 4 stars due to a problem with the first Guitar I ordered. It had some factory scratch marks on the neck. Looks like a michanical issue with a sanding machine or something, then was missed by QA. Musicians friend took care of it. Replacement was here quickly. It was worth the wait. I love the guitar. Finish, action and playability were all good right out of the box. I can play just about any type of music with this guitar; Smooth Jazz, Prestine Clean, Crunchy Crunch and Metally Metal with the right pedal that is. I was wondering if I should try the Vintage PAF custom 58 pickups, but its hard to pull the trigger on an upgrade when what you have, sounds so good when Im with the band. The tone really cuts through. The neck is really accessible.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AS93 Electric Guitar:

First off, I never give a perfect rating, for we can all improve.
However, customer service, tech. team, and everyone in between, made my purchase easy and satisfying.
Now to the AS93. Looks, feels, and plays better than I imagined it might. I've been playing now for about 33 years, and this guitar, plugged into my Eccoustic 112 by Peavey is a great new sound for all the stuff I've been playing over the years.
Feeling a bit bored in your playing; get this guitar at, what I feel was a great price for the quality, and jump start your sound.

Dude it sound & looks brand new!!This baby can transform into anything, VERY pedal friendly.... I've produced all sort of background-fills-ambient for my blogs and home videos, posing from percussion to synth.Outstanding bright sounds, played clean through a Vox AC4 combo or lately injunction with EHX SMMH + Soul preacher.
