OVERVIEW

Flame maple top, double cutaway mahogany body and tri-sound switching system.

Like the classics of yesteryear, the AR620FM's Mahogany body features the first-of-its-kind symmetrical double-cutaway and abalone body binding that gracefully outlines its exquisite flamed maple top. Arguably, it is the biggest leap forward Ibanez made 40 years ago that will be most appreciated by todays player: the Tri-Sound switching systema unique pickup configuration control that pack this axe with a rich tonal palette.

No matter what the setting, the 620s Super 80 Flying Finger pickups deliver smooth, warm, vintage sound that make this Artist a must for fans of classic rock tone. The 3-piece maple set-in neck features old school Tree of Life inlays, and is expertly joined to the body, finished with a baby-smooth heel. The AR620FM is the true path back to one of rocks most dynamic chapters. Hardshell case included.

Comments about Ibanez Artist Expressionist Series AR620FM Electric Guitar:

Very rarely do I spend the time to do a guitar review, but in this case I thought it warranted it. As I was doing research on this guitar, I couldn't find any "real" first-hand info...so I hope this helps. I purchased this from Musicians Friend as a discounted "return". It arrived on time and the purchasing experience and pricing fantastic. It arrived in flawless condition in it's original box with all the paperwork and such. As soon as I took it out of the case my first impression was "WOW". The guitar is absolutely gorgeous. Fit and finish A++++. A few things...

The color is really misrepresented on all of the websites selling the "Aged Citrine Burst". In reality, its a cherry/orange sunburst and in my opinion looks superior to the stock photos all the vendors have been providing. Its got great color and bling without being over the top.

Out of the box it played very well. However, I tightened up the truss rod 1/8 turn, dropped the action 1/16th and put .09's on it...BAM it instantly became my favorite electric guitar in my collection of 30+. The sound options are amazing. You can go from smooth jazz to crunchy Pearl Jam. The tonal versatility is unmatched in any guitar I own. Guitar Player magazine gave the AR620FM a great review (which is what peaked my interest about this guitar in the first place) but said the bottom tone neck tone control was tight and hard to rotate during their demo...guess what, I had the exact same thing! Totally easy fix. Pop the speed knob off and reseed it slightly off the body, 30 second fix. The only downside (but certainly not a deal breaker) is the guitar is heavier than I anticipated and (oddly) weighted towards the headstock so (almost like my doubleneck) you need to compensate for the opposite gravitational pull you would expect. Kind of odd...but I still give this guitar a 10. Amazing value for a great professional gigging guitar. I could not be happier with the purchase and highly recommend this great axe. It's a keeper!!!

Comments about Ibanez Artist Expressionist Series AR620FM Electric Guitar:

I am using this guitar now to practice up for being in a band again. Have not been in a band for 20 + years. I never even tried this guitar out because in 1980, I bought an Ibanez Cherry Sunburt Artist and it was a great guitar. That guitar never had the "tree of life" neck which was a big seller for this new one for me. I have been looking at these guitars for a year now and was set on the Black or White version but...when I saw the Brown, that was it. I have never had any trouble with Ibanez
