My wife happens to work next to a guitar store and while I was waiting for her to get off I found myself wandering around the store. I was looking at acoustic guitars with no intention of purchasing until my eye caught the Ibanez AW40NT's "Tree of Life" inlay on the fretboard. I picked it up and strummed a few chords and was very impressed with its rich warmth, crisp highs, and great sustain. With a guitar this nice and well made I figured it would be pretty pricey, well to my surprise this guitar was very affordable and i snapped it up immediatley when I heard the price. I have been using daily for hours at a time and it is standing up to my "abuse" beautifully. Any working musician or entry level guitar player can NOT go wrong with this great find!

sweet dagum guitar

By banjerpicker

from Crossville, TN

Let me tell you all something, out of 6 guitars I own, my Ibanez AW-40 is the best sounding out of them all for the money. I dont think for the price I have ever played a better guitar than this one. This guitar is, in my opinion, the closest you can get to the Martin/Gibson acoustics without paying the thousands for it. There is not one thing I dont like about it. The beautiful "tree of life" abalone/pearl inlay really stands out. Overall a very beautiful and great playing guitar.

I own this guitar, i got her for a bargain too. The absolute only thing that could make it better would be if it had pickups.. Otherwise, this guitar is awesome. It sounds greatttt!.

Great Guitar

By YoYoSteve

from Texas

I was having trouble finding a mid-range acoustic guitar. Something that had the right combination of looks, sound, and price. I kept debating between this guitar and the Taylor big baby. Since, I play drums professionally, guitar isn't my main instrument and I was just looking for a great guitar I could play around with at home. This guitar turned out to be wayyy more value than I expected. With a new pair of strings, this guitar sounds close to par with $1000+ guitars. We are constantly using it in the recording studio, and I highly recommend you to pick one up. Whether you are looking for your first guitar or your twentieth, this guitar is a steal!! Not to mention, it's great for seducing ladies =)

Unexpected Surprise

By Mike Lombardo

from Louisiana

I was looking for something to upgrade from my grandaughter's present guitar. Tried several more expensive models, but wasn't yet impressed. I noticed the pearl inlay on this ax, and almost passed it by because of the price. I didn't want to go under $500, but I had to play it out of curiosity! I was blown away. The warm, crisp tone and easy fingering was a shock to say the least. It plays easier than most anything I tried, but the tone and the beauty were definately far beyond thet price. Although I own a dozen guitars, I'll buy another for myself.

It's a babe

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

the Artwood 40NT is probably one of the smartest investments of my 17-year life. I played Martins, Taylors, Gibsons, and Ovations and once I had fiddled with the action and cleaned her up, none could or can compare to my baby. After owning this guitar for about 2.5 years and having played for nearly 3.5 years, I still cannot compare this guitar to any forementioned guitars, it would be unfair. I put D'Addario jazz strings (.013's) on this, and the warm mahogany dreadnought tone blends well with the bite of electric guitar strings. I wouldn't have any other acoustic.Besides tone, it looks great and I'll never sell it.

Merry Christmas Indeed!

By Anonymous

Santa was really good to me this year. I walked downstairs with my wife and son to find this beautiful guitar sitting by the tree. I've been wanting an Ibanez acoustic for a few years now and was shocked to see the AW40NT. The "Tree of Life" inlay on the fret board is spectacular. It's easy to understand why these are in the Artwood series when you see the stunning sitka spruce top and mahogany sides and back. This is the most playable acoustic I have encountered and the tone is incredible. Outstanding price for such a high quality instrument. Highly recommended.

By far one of the best guitars I have ever owned. Very full well rounded sound and amazing playability, not to mention the beautiful inlay. A great guitar at an amazing price.

Very Happy Owner!

By Happy Ibanez AW40 Owner

from Atlanta, GA

I wanted a beater guitar I could take to work, kick around the campfire, and have no stress taking on an airplane. I noticed a sale on the Ibanez line-up and took a look. I found this jewel and was really impressed. I loved the action, the neck felt perfect in my hand, and I couldn't seem to mess up a slide. It even had good harmonics. The tone was crisp and loud. I couldn't believe the price. I picked a few others up. The seagulls, fenders, and even the Taylor Big Baby didn't impress me like this one did. I was offered a really great deal on the solid wood seagull (it had a little damage from being on display, perfect for my intentions), but I couldn't let this one go. I think this one blew away many more expensive guitars. It is pretty, but I don't really care about that. If you get a chance (their no longer being carried at my particular store), then find one of these and buy it. Heck, I spent twice as much as I wanted, but it was well worth it.

Best buy in this range.

I was looking for an acoustic in this price range at local shops for the longest time. I played probably about 15-20 different guitars, but seriously, this one sounds better than all the rest. It does not project extremely far (the only solid part of the guitar is the spruce top), but the tone, intonation, and action is superior to anything in this range that I've played. And did I mention that with the exception of the Hummingbird, it's the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen.

Awesome bargain guitar

I've got Gibsons, Martins, Taylors and have owned a number of other well known brands. I picked this up when I was traveling for something temporary, but honestly it has become one of my favorites.

Irie!!!

By Tony the Dread

from Orlando, FL

The Ibanez AW40 is the best acoustic guitar in this price range. Period. I went into the music store hoping to find a solid acoustic guitar for a reasonable price that would hold up on its own. Since I've always been a fan of Ovation guitars, I was expecting to walk out with an Ovation. After playing all of the acoustic guitars in this price range; Washburn, Fender, Dean, Ovation?. My eye was caught by the Ibanez AW40. Maybe it was the graceful vine inlay that decorates the fretboard? When I picked up the guitar and strummed the first chord, I knew this was the one I had to buy! Looks aside, the Ibanez AW40 produces a brilliantly resonate tone which is equal to that of the more expensive acoustics. A very full sound. Sorry Ovation! If you need an acoustic and want to get your moneys worth? buy this guitar NOW!!!

Ibanez really pulled it off with this guitar

By JOtis02

from West Des Moines, IA

I recently purchased the Ibanez AW40 after falling in love with it in the store. To start it off, the tone is amazing. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking you have to buy a really expensive guitar to get great tone. The Solid Sitka Spruce top really pulls it off for this guitar. Every note and chord is filled with a rich and vibrant tone. The guitar itself is very sturdy and well put together. The gold tuners and the Tree of Life inlay give the guitar a distinct beauty that is worth every penny. Overall an amazing guitar, I highly recommend this guitar to anyone.

A beautiful instrument

By yamahaguy

The Ibanez AW40NT is a beautiful instrument. For the money it is a very nice guitar. The abalone and pearl inlay on the soundhole and on the fretboard really set this guitar apart from others in it's price range. It came set up well out of the box. Mine has a couple of minor flaws - a very small nick on the edge of the soundhole and the gold tuners are somewhat tarnished (but they work well). Other than that the solid spruce top is beautiful and the sides and back are very nicely finished.Overall the construction appears sound. I just got it so I won't know for some time how it will hold up but it looks and feels like a solid guitar.

Great guitar at a great price

By adodd8

from Honolulu, HI

I own three acoustic guitars. Of the three, this Ibanez was the least expensive and the best sounding. It looks great too. I am so happy with this guitar. The action is perfect. Currently I have the stock guitar strings on it, but I can't wait to hear and play the guitar once I put my favority Elixir strings on it. You can't go wrong with guitar. The only flaw is the tuners are tarnished. No big deal though, I am sure they can be cleaned.
