OVERVIEW

There are a lot of guitars to choose from. The Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar is different. Singular in looks and sound because it's made from exotic figured ash. The grain patterns are striking. It's amazing to find an exotic wood guitar in this price range.

For faithful reproduction of acoustic tone, a B-Band UST pickup is paired with the Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp with onboard tuner. Tune anytime, anywhere. You'll also be ready for whatever connections are available; the EW20ASE is equipped with balanced 1/4" and XLR outputs.

Paired with the fine wood are high-end cosmetic appointments also found on guitars costing much more: an abalone rosette, Ibanez chrome die-cast tuners and a natural high-gloss finish. If you've been holding back on an acoustic guitar purchase because you haven't found the right features at the right price, your wait is over.

Case sold separately.

wood is great. the pickup sounds awesome!!! i have people tell me all the time how great my guitar sounds at open mics and often get the "oooohhhh, that's a preeety guitar". and it is. it is a real head turner and a joy for the ears. my only issue with the quality stems from the battery compartment pickup issue i had. i love ibanez and i want them to improve in that area, so quality wise i give it a 9 because the battery compartment needs improvement. everything else quality wise is a 10.
you will not find a better value, period. i am rambling to say more than that, but i want to add that taylor exotic woods are well in to the 4,000's. this guitar looks and plays like a million bucks. don't be fooled by deans. they look like a million bucks but don't play like it. ibanez exotic wood is an incredible line of guitars. value wise, it is INCREDIBLE!

I bought this guitar in February '09. It was great for the first 3.5 years. It had an absolutely beautiful sound, and my guitar playing friends were surprised it was not a more expensive instrument. Around a year and a half ago, the body started warping and the neck started pulling away from the body. This may be my fault as I rarely kept it in its case. It was not in a humidity controlled environment but I never left it outside or exposed it to temperature extremes. My first acoustic guitar, a cheap no name that I bought in 2004, has been subject to the same conditions and is doing fine.

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. Everything from the size and look to the sound and quality for the price has earned it a permanent spot in my heart. I've been playing guitar for around 8 years and this one has been with me for around half of those. Though almost all the guitars I've spent extensive time playing have been Ibanez I feel that among the midrange guitars the differences are minimal between brands.

The EW20ASENT is slightly smaller than a traditional dread knot. Personally I like a smaller body size. It's easier to hold and if you have a smaller space such as an apartment or even a dorm room the smaller size is ideal. The sound is not compromised due to the smaller size either. I feel like I get a louder sound and better tone from this small body compared to some larger bodies I've played.

The sound is a bit brighter as the base notes don't resonate as much in the smaller body although it is hardly noticeable. I compensate by putting on some heavier strings, usually a medium, and then the balance is perfect. I've put this bad boy into so many alternate tunings and string combinations and have had little to no problems with buzzing. If you plan to keep it in standard I doubt you'll have any problems at all and should have a good clear sound.

One of my favorite things about this guitar is how it looks. It may be a midrange guitar but at first glance it looks like it's worth thousands. The exotic ash wood finish and pearl inlays in the fretboard and around the body look beautiful. I love seeing the look on people's faces and the complements I get on it when I pull it out to play a few songs.

I would recommend this guitar to any guitar player who has got the basics down and is looking for an upgrade. A perfect second guitar as it is in the midrange price. It's a guitar that you can really learn on and play for hours. One that you can be proud of and show off. The body feels great to hold, the sound is clear and clean, and the look is beautiful.

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar exceeded my expectations by far. The look alone of this guitar is beautiful and the sound that it makes matches its looks. The neck of this guitar feels identical to my Gibson SG, very narrow and thin and the fret bridges don't stick out and tear up your thumb. At the start of the neck from the body of the guitar the neck starts at the 13th fret instead of the 12th and with the low cut cutaway you can really get up to those high notes easier.the neck and the cutaway don't have any space between them at all they flow together. The only thing I didn't like about this guitar was the strings that came with it were cheap and sounded terrible but other than that this was a very good buy. Thanks to everyone's positive reviews about this guitar I now have a real treasure.

This guitar is absolutely amazing! I bought it after seeing it in a music store but not purchasing in time so I ordered it on here instead. The grain and figure of the wood makes this guitar absolutely beautiful! And the sound is incredible. It's a bright sound but it still has plenty of low end. The pickup and pre-amp in this guitar is fantastic! I couldn't be happier with it especially for this price!!

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

For the price the looks of this guitar is out of the park. The slim neck profile offers excellent playability. The electronics get the job done, but I would have preferred a Fishman setup. It doesn't have the richness of a mahogany or rosewood body, but it really has a unique tone. Overall I would give this a 4 out of 5 rating. Excellent for any beginner/intermediate guitarists.

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've owned this guitar for over a year now and it has not let me down once. It sounds amazing and plays just as well. The tuners are tight, the preamp is amazing with its onboard reverb and it has its notch filter. Tuner is spot on as well. With that said... The way its built?... Amazing! The quality of the build and the materials are comparable to those acoustic which cost $800+ from other makers. Take this from someone who's been playing for over 13 years and has only found one acoustic that has stuck out over the rest. Not too mention I've had it well over a year, so it's not like its a new novelty for me. If you get this little gem you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a fierce and sophisticated package. Stunning and dramatic appearance combined with impeccable craftsmanship, a smooth action, great tone and quality electronics. As i sat in GC i compaired it to it's cousin, the zebra wood version which had a deeper somewhat warmer tone. I prefered this one right away It was a no brainer.I love this guitar. Not to mention the quilted ash means you will have a guitar that basically has fingerprints and you could meet ten people with the exact same guitar and no two wood patterns would be alike. Just a small plus among many more important features. This guitar sounds great both plugged or unplugged. Rich, bright sustain. Even before having it setup the action was super smooth with a little out of the box buzz of course. It's light weight, has a thin neck and even has a PA system jack which is pretty cool. All around I give it a strong five stars. I havn't had any issues with the battery compartment as some have claimed but if i do i will update this review. Buy this guitar.
