I've had this guitar for over 10 years now, and I gotta say it still sounds good as the day I got it. This was my 2nd guitar, my first one was a cheap fender squire.

The tune-o-matic bridge is useful if you decide to change strings, and it also makes it waay easy to quickly change strings.

I think the only thing I do not like about this guitar would have to be the loose input jack, it's nothing too serious to worry about... It just bugs me from time to time.

I've had this guitar for four or so years now, and I've decided to write a review. To start off, I'll list pros. It costs very little, is light, and has decent action and feel, especially for a beginning guitar. Also, if you wish to upgrade its electronics, pickups, tuners, whatever, it's not too difficult, though the electronics have somewhat difficult access in a fairly tight space. If you're really looking for upgradability, though, go with Fender or Squier. Now for the cons. It stays in tune HORRIBLY, has a bit less than decent tone, especially in rhythm and in-between positions, is bad with a strap because the neck sinks, its toggle switch is a little messed up, the potentiometers/knobs are scratchy and skip, and the output jack hardly stays together. For a good beginning guitar, go with a Squier, Fender, or a little bit higher level Ibanez, I would suggest. If you're not a beginner, definitely spend a little more on oh one of all those brands out there...there are so many. I'v been playing for six years and am about to buy a new guitar. Also, this is my 2nd and I've used my brother's excellent 600 Ibanez. That's a nice guitar. But I don't have the money for something like that. Maybe shoot for c.500. Keep looking, I'd say.

It's unfortunate Musiciansfriend doesn't sell this guitar anymore! I'm not sure if Ibanez discontinued it or if it was just Musiciansfriend. This guitar is a gem and sounds great in any style of music! I used it in my highschool jazz band until I upgraded to a Gretsch Synchromatic. I still use the GAX70 in my punk rock band and in my church's band. The only complain i had was the plastic components (Knob covers and toggle switch cover) all fell off after a few months. Other than that I was and still am happy to own this guitar

I bought this guitar about 3 or 4 years ago, and it was my first guitar. I plugged it into the amp my mother bought for me, and I just loved it. After about 3 months, the jack had become loose, and I didn't want to take it apart, because it was my baby, essentially. But other than that little mishap, I've had no other problems with it, and would gladly get this guitar for my child.
Such a shame that Ibanez discontinued this line though.

    This guitar is disappointing

    By XiphosShredder94

After i purchased this guitar from the music store i couldn't wait to get home and plug it into my line six spider 3 15 watt amp, i wanted to die! The guitar was terribly set up and the intination was inhuman. I brought it to the guitar shop to get it set up and then it was great! 3 days later it's intonation was out of whack again. Please don't waste your time with this guitar and get something worth while. I guess what they say is true, you get what you pay for.

    amazed!!!

    By staind42

alright so i bought this guitar about 5 monthes ago and have been THOURUGHY impressed with it since i got it home!!! i bought it when it was discontinued and got it for a steal! i love the feel of the neck with how thin it is, and personally being into heavier music, the pick-ups have blown me away! there is so much sustain and i can get a real heavy sound from it. its been durable and quite good to me so far. only negative i have is that its not well balanced, it dives when you let go of neck, but if you just tuck it to your side when not holding it, it sits just fine.

    Nice guitar for the price

    By Ibanez Fan-KyfDY

I have been playing for almost 20 years. I have had some good and not so good guitars. I took about a 3 year break from everyday playing and picked this guitar up to spark my interest again. It plays very well and I have enjoyed this quitar very much.I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice playing, looking guitar at a very reasonable price.

I got this guitar two years ago for my 13th birthday, and ive never had 1 problem with it.After about a year,i got a multi effects pedal,& I now use this guitar through a Digitech RP80, and it sounds great. A couple months ago, i replaced the neck pickup with a Seymour Duncan Screamin Demon,& i put a cover over the neck pickup...let me tell you, the only other guitars that sound better r PRS's. If you r a begginer, good guitar. If u r an expirienced player, well, good guiar. If u wana push the full potential out of this awsome guitar, then I do recomend changing the bridge pickup with some kind of Seymour Duncan though. Evn b4 all da changes ive made to this guitar, it still sounded great(especially 4 the price!)i totally recomend this guitar to every1!!

    Great Beginner Guitar

    By TheAllKnowing

    from Out there...

This was my very first guitar. I was looking all over the shop for a cheap guitar with the best tone and overall found. The features on this guitar are pretty sweet. The seperate tone and volume controls came in handy a lot. The neck is nice and thin and pretty fast for something this cheap. Too me, it has a good sharp tone that I haven't heard much. Now of course, a guitar for just $*** is gonna have some flaws. If you play hard and bend a lot like me, this thing will go out of tune 3 or 4 times a day (When I was starting I played about 3 hours daily), and it gets annoying after awhile. All there is some string buzz and the B & e strings caused some problems when hitting certain frets. Overall it's a great guitar that'll hang in there for your beginner years.

My mother got me this guitar for christmas. I thought since she knew nothing about music she would get me a crappy guitar worth 5 bucks. But was I surprised when i got this thing! It was awsome and I love it. I highly recomend it to anyone with not a lot of money but needs a good guitar.

I bought one of these guitars from Musician's Friend about a year ago [The Transparent Red ]and I loved it so much that I then bought the Black one... I own a Les Paul, a 1972 L6 and an Ibanez Artist...but to be honest I play the the GAX70 the most... The Guitar always stays in tune no matter how much I bend the Strings....For the Price you cannot beat this Guitar!

    Nice guitar

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

This guitar rocks. I however had the problem with the input jack no big deal. The main issue was the bridge get a gotoh or tone pros wide bridge the intonation could not be set correctally with the stock bridge. It was a cheap fix and now it plays great I have a jackson and now I find myself grabbing this alittle bit more often, still love my jackson though.

    AWESOME, AWESOME GUITAR

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

I got this guitar in October 2006 in black and i am still playing it. It has all the features i want on a guitar. I like its feel and its sound. My only complaint is that the G string tuning peg unwinds when i first put in a new string. However it is a great beginner (or even pro) guitar. This proves that you don't need to get a $3000 Custom Shop gibson to have one of the best. This one will do.

This is the first guitar I actually owned. I've had it for about 4 and a half years. Don't get me wrong, it's a great guitar...and it's real value for money. It's cheap and it rocks. The thing is just that I've had problems with mine from the start (which tends to wreck your idea of something). Firstly, I had a problem with the tone... no matter how many times I tuned it, it didn't sound/ring right. Secondly, I had a similar problem than the person who posted on the 16th of April (Mopar)...the output jack came loose and that meant that, when it didn't make contact, it made the worst feedback/torture noise ever. But the cool thing is, these problems are not hard to fix...but you'll probably need assistance sometimes. But this guitar is really good, if you look at the price. It's awesome and I'd recommend it to anybody who wants to start playing or has only been playing for a short period of time. Experienced guitarists wouldn't be disappointed, but it lacks something....

I... Generally didn't like it the first time I saw it, heard it, etc... but one of the guitarists in the band I play bass in uses it and I've heard it and played it quite a bit and it grew on me.The necks thin, it's light, it sounds FANTASTIC for an inexpensive guitar..might not be a looker but hey who cares?

This guitar is really nice for a beginner. If you are into heavier stuff i would recommend the model w/ drop d tuning swicth it is REALLY a great feature. also, when you play old zepplin stuff on a Marshall 15 watt practice amp w/ the Boss DS1 distortion pedal it sounds AMAZING!!
