I'm not kidding. I wish the value rating went to 20, because this guitar deserves it. Don't be fooled by the price.bought this and a Peavey Transtube Rage 158 practice amp (also great).I played this for 3 years while all my other friends had to throw away their dumpy johnsons and squiers and buy gibsons and schecters The trem bar works fine. I have no idea who makes the pickups but they sound great. The hot setup is with a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone pedal. It screams with the right eq and gets really chunky power chord rhythms. It can sometimes outdo my schecter c-1. Any other beginner-intermediate guitar should be illegal. My next upgrade will for sure be Ibanez. email me if you want any details or pics, I have it right here.

Great price, high quality, and gig-worthy

By Chet-WULvh

from Reno

For the price, no other guitar comes close to matching the features and quality of this Ibanez. Great pickups, great tone, great finish, and easy playing neck. My only gripe with it is the trem system... not quite standard Strat quality... but again, considering the price, this is a minor thing.

I like it

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I like it as an overall guitar, you can play just about any style pretty well. My first guitar, so I don't know, maybe it's just biased a bit. Worth way more than the price! I play lots of rock, tone could do a bit better.

A solid, intermediate guitar

Stratocaster, move over. The GRX40 is a very solid, well balanced guitar. With the pickups, you can play leads with the big boys, from screaming highs and juicy lows. But the powerful humbucker is where the real fun is. Capable of rhythm or lead, this guitar is versatile and extremely high quality. I own it.

great beginner and more

I bought this guitar in a kit. It's good as is, but you can make it great. Replace the pickups with Fender Texas single coils and a Dimarzio humbucker to get real strat sound. Replace the tuners with Schaller locking type and get some light Fender bullets. This guitar can be your best friend forever. So, great for beginner. Build it better as you grow. Buy it here and save $$$

Great guitar

By claptonfan-nNXuv

from Dillon, SC

I purchased the Ibanez grx40 with the hope that I would get a guitar that would be easy to play and learn on. Well, it is just that. It is easy to chord, the pickups and 5-way selector switch give it the versatility to play almost any type of music, and no matter how hard I jam, the darn thing seems to stay in tune. Then when I teamed it up with the Digitech RP50 the possibilities became endless. I have worked with several experienced musicians and they have all commented on the versatility and sound quality of this very inexpensive set of musical instruments!!
