An eye-catching finish with a fast neck and DiMarzio pickups.

As the crown jewel of Ibanez, the Prestige line represents the passion and pride of Japanese luthiery. These guitars, produced exclusively in Japan, have earned worldwide acclaim and respect throughout the industry for their craftsmanship, quality, and innovation. Combine this with the classic Ibanez RG design and you have an instrument that truly represents a cornerstone of the Ibanez legacy.

The RG852MPBGFB features a basswood body with a visually intriguing Mappa burl top that will easily turn heads. No matter how many strings you need, have no fear, there's never any compromise in structural integrity. The ultra-thin, 5-piece maple/wenge, Ultra 8 neck offers rock-solid stability with the lightning speed that only a Prestige neck can deliver.

Electronics include a pair of DiMarzio PAF-8 pickups for a vintage vibe with rounded highs and defined lows. The Gibraltar Standard II bridge, designed for precise intonation adjustment, playing comfort, and great sustain, combine with super smooth Gotoh MG-T locking tuners for superior tuning stability. Hardshell case included.

Comments about Ibanez RG Prestige Series RG852MPB 8-String Electric Guitar:

You ever pick up a guitar and find that you just can't put it down? This is one of those for me! Honestly I have never even considered an 8 string. Ive tried the cheap ones at Guitar Center and immediately after plugging it in just felt like the neck was way too massive. However after seeing Sarah Longfield and The Fine Constant play live and recently watching Mattias Eklund, I decided maybe its time to give it a try. I was really intrigued by the finish on this guitar and let me say in person it is gorgeous. The pickups sound great in 3 amps that I own (Yamaha, Fender and Line 6). I love the parallel setting! Sounds so bluesy and the bridge is great for distortion. Really the tones on this thing are amazing on clean and dirty! What impressed me most was how good the neck feels in my hand. I have tried 7 strings that felt awkward and big and this thing is big but for some reason it just feels right. Not sure why, but it feels more comfortable to me than the Universe 7 string models. Out of the box, the guitar just needed tuning. I may make a few adjustments down the road, but very little fret buzz, string height is good right out of the box. I tuned it as Ibanez lists on their site (basically half step down. maybe this is because of the extended neck length?). Works really well except maybe the lowest string may need to be replaced with a heavier gauge. The only downside that I could say is that I usually prefer to have a tremolo bar but since I may want to play around with the tunings, it may be a blessing not having one.
