In the mid 90's I had the basswood bodied IC300. It was an alright guitar. This is awesome in comparison. Mahogony body and high quality throughout. I've owned a Gibson SGX and I think this Ibanez was built with equal if not better quality. I do think the pickups could be better but they are by no means bad...just a bit on the bassey side. Also the unbalanced strap button placement isn't terrible but needs to be fixed. I am glad the brought back the retro brownburst finish. Also, having played this side by side with the IC400, I'd save your money and get this. Set necks are over rated and this is the best value in its price range.

Outstanding sound and value.

I own 7 PRS's. This is the first guitar that I've bought in 10 years other than a PRS or Les Paul. This is a solid hard rocking guitar with outstanding sound. Massive crunch. Feel good about buying one!

A great instrument.

If you are a guitarist with some time in the playing field, this is the guitar meant for you. I am an active musician, and this was my first Guitar. I have to say, it's wonderful. It had such a deep sustain on some distortion, and has a fast neck for speedy riffs. All in all, perfect.

It's Alright

By Veins of Ice

This guitar is good, but if you play metal you may want new pickups. I think it may just be my mild mistreatment of guitars, but I also think it's some of the guitar's fault too. My master volume knob is pretty loose after about a year of owning it. If you play metal, I recommend getting some EMG pickups, doesn't matter which kind, just get some. The guitar also has a GREAT neck, nice and smooth after a while but right when you get it is a little on the rough side.

I have loved Ibanez all my life, especially the Iceman. I own a PS-2 Mirror Ball Iceman. I wanted to buy the IC300 for sometime but had trouble getting the money. I saw the IC400 and ofcourse wanted that even more, since it had the original layout with the 4knobs, but then this Iceman came out. Great looks, amazing price, awesome sound, a true Iceman at a killer price. And I am also so happy that the Brown Sunburst is available as a color option instead of the usual black. This is an AMAZING guitar and I really do suggest it to anyone whom wants to play a good guitar.

an amazing body and tone to boot.

I've played all my friends guitars that are thousands of dollars more than this one and yet this is my favorite. The sustain is excellent and the lows sound almost like bass strings. It's a really good guitar for playing anything rock.

A masterpiece for Metal.

Though I am beginning at my guitar playing (2 years), I know a good guitar from the terrible one. This guitar truly is a work of art, and very good for the metal or hard rock noise that one can desire. But I feel it does not give off the good enough sound for things such as Blues, or funk. All in all, great guitar for jamming out fast paced and deeply distorted riffs.
