I went to a few of the local music stores around here and this is what I purchased. I tried on a tele and an SG and while I loved the sound from both of the guitars, I settled on this Ibanez. The necks on the other guitars are a bit fat for my smallish hands. I have an Ibanez bass (not sure of the model since its not in front of me) that has the same basic body shape. The sound on this is will do for what I'm looking for. The usual caveats are in place. The cable and strap are crap and so are the picks. Having some other equipment already around, this is not a problem, though I will go get another right angle cable for the input on the guitar as my pick hand kept hitting the other one. The only other issue I had was with the pick up switch. I could turn it in circles around the nut. I opened the back and gave it a good tighten, so I hope that fixes that. I will keep an eye on it though. As far as the amp goes, its fine for a practice amp and the disortion is a plus. I dont think you can go wrong with this package. I have a feeling that this will be my main electric six string for a good long time.

I bought this starter pack for my 10 year old, since I play guitar and he wanted his own electric guitar. A few folks speak highly of it and some knock it. First off you get what you for. The little amp is ok for bedroom use to practice scales and chords etc. not for gigging. The guitar is agathis body so you are not going to get the sustain you would from say a mahogany or alder body guitar. You can get some beefy power chord out of it. The finish is good. My biggest concern with the guitar is that it never stays in tune! Again it's a lower end guitar desighned for the beginner on a real budget. Overall average but good for the price.

Exceeded my expectations!

This package is great! The guitar plays beautifully, the pickups are nice and fat, the amp is great (overdrive!). Also, the picture doesn't show this, but the guitar has very small flecks of metallic silver in the finish, which looks great. Buy this package, you will not be disappointed.

great for starters

By jakesniper

from troy,nh

This is my first guitar and it's so easy to learn on. I can already play most simple songs like "Can't Buy Me Love" and "TNT". The 10w amp is awesome for a beginner. You might need a new patch cable and picks but otherwise it's very durable. I've dropped this thing off of my deck and it doesn't have a single scratch. I just got it painted with blue flames. Overall it's a great guitar and I strongly recommend it.

Ibanez jumpstart guitar

By BDDoubleNickels

from Wapwallopen, PA

Great guitar for the price. I've had it only a few days and am very impressed with the overall look, tone, and feel of the guitar. I only have a few problems, well first of all...the amp isn't that great...which is common sence, it's only a starter kit (the amp buzzes). And when I got the guitar, the tone knob was broken, but nothing you can't fix. And the guitar needs new strings, and after a while def. some new pickups.Overall, Great guitar!

My Vewy First Guitar

By Ryan

from Douglas, Wyoming

I don't have any major complaints about this setup, since as it's pretty sweet. The little amp was louder than I expected, but the cleans are clean, and the dirties are dirty. The little black knob thingy on the pickup selector broke off, but nothing else has broke off. Over all a fairly plane jane guitar, but a good stepping stone to bigger and better thangs.

Great place to start

By Mick Mars ain't that bad...

I've been playing guitar a long time now and i remeber when i first started i used a trashy guitar played out of a karokee machine. My parents said if i stuck with it they'd invest money for a new instrument. This was the one. When i got it it came with a fuzz pedal, but now your not paying as much as it was back then. This is a great begginer guitar. You can easily upgrade it, so it will last you a long time, so its not only a begginer but an intermediate guitar too. I remeber The only problem i ever had with it was the input sucked. You litteraly have to get it fixed every 2 seconds. And this version has no fuzz. Even so i'd say this is the best value ever! Buy this for any young guitarist or beginner and you won't be sorry.

Great Starter Guitar

By Anonymous

This is definatley an amazing guitar. I have played other electrics from packages. Packages costing more than this one. This is certainly and amazing guitar for the price. Sounds Great! Only problem I had was that one of the strings frequntly became out of tune. But you don't only get the guitar in the package. The amp is nice. All the features you can want in an amplifier. gets plenty loud if are just practicing. The tuner and everything else is not the best but it'll get you through. A Great package!

Very Impressed

By Elwarno

I picked up this kit for my girlfriend as a starter.Out of the box it was a rattle trap.A little adjustment to the truss rod and it was all set. It has a great looking cut with a nice finish. Nice craftmanship all over. For a little amp you can get that thing sounding good too. Honestly a very nice value.

Nice~~~

By jrunknjrozy

I've only used a few guitars in my time, including this one they are a standard Fender Strat with a broken bridge pickup, a Squier Fat Strat and a crap acoustic. This guitar rises above them all in terms of distortion. It's beautiful. The stuff it comes with ain't bad the amp kinda broke after a few months bu overall the stuff has survived through hell and back. The tuners not great but enough for beginners, the amps pretty good too and the gigbag comes in handy as well as the stand. Things you gotta change though are the cable, picks and I use a Boss Distortion pedal that helped out alot when used on bigger amps. Also changing up the strings is a good idea, if your an all around player D'Addarrio should be fine cheap and good but if your into distortion and that rock stuff go with Ernie Balls. They're awesome.

I have only been playing for about 3 months and this was my first guitar. For the price you can't beat it. It is a very solid guitar and can take a beating. I would recommend for any beginner.

Great guitar pack

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This is a cheap-but-not-too-cheap pack that's of surprising quality for the price. I've been playing it constantly ever since I got it, and it's a really nice guitar. The amp does buzz a bit if you turn the gain up really far, and it can come out of tune if you try to bend a lot, but it has great action and is well worth your money. My friend/ lead guitarist got a 300something dollar B.C. Rich Metal Masters pack, and I've played it and I can honestly say I like the Ibanez better. So if you're looking for a mid-price range pack that's good for a beginner to intermediate level guitarist, save yourself some money and gey this. Good quality as long as you take care of it, and easy to play. You can almost never go wrong with Ibanez.

When I bought it about 6 months ago and thought it was just amazing. After these 6 months I realize it is solid, but better things are out there. On the plus side the guitar is great, it looks good, and it plays good enough to get the job done. The neck of the guitar is perfect for me (I have rather large hands). The amp is ok, but you will want a better one. The tuner is crap, and the cable is thin, but cables and tuners aren't bank breakers so you will be fine. The strings ar okay, but other strings are better. The gig bag is a gig bag, it takes my guitar to a friends house to jam, I'm happy with it. Overall you want this guitar if your just starting out. I will keep this guitar for a long time, I know I'm not good enough for a Gibson or Fender yet, and until I am this is my baby.

iT rOCKs (If you want it to)!

By SuperMascia

from Astoria NY

The package came without the educational dvd, but that did not bother me. What counts is that the guitar was in there, shiny new, with the rest of the addons. It sounds and play smooth, nice keyboard, low action. Even the amp is capable of a surprising range of different sounds.

This package is great. For a great price you get an awesome guitar, nice amp, & decent tuner. I bought a new cable since the one that comes with it is weak and fimsy. The stock strings are 'ok' and surprisingly I havent changed them yet, which i was going to right when I recieved the guitar. Overall this package is great, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Good guitar, but missing item

By xgoodbyes

from Upper Tumon, GU

I purchased this guitar and when I got it i was really excited. I opened the package and I found out that alot of the items were missing. Guitar stand, cable, tuner, and pick. I tried it out at my friends house and the quality was good. I still can't play this guitar at my house because I'm missing the most important part of an electric guitar, which is the cable.
