I've tried every guitar out there trying to find the one guitar that would fulfill all my needs. I'm talking very expensive Strats, Teles, Jems, Les Paul and many others. I love the sound of the Strats, but didn't like the way any of them played. I loved the whammy set up on Ibanez, but the necks felt too thin. I had finally decided I would have to get multiple guitars to get the sounds and feels I was looking for. I never tried the JS series because I had also decided that signature series guitars were not for me after not quite feeling the Jem or Stevie Ray Vaughn Strat were cutting it for me. Then one day I saw a JS1200 on Craig's List for a very reasonable price and ended up trading a Strat for it. I was and still am blown away by this guitar. The first time I picked it up I could immediately tell the neck fit in my hand like a glove. Then when I plugged it in I was again blown away. I swear to you, I am more inspired and play better on this guitar than my RGs. Then when I pulled up the volume knob and switched to the neck pickup...WOW, instant Strat tone. I finally found the ultimate guitar. I could now have one guitar and find all the tones I am looking for. I use a Mesa Mini Rec through some pedals and a 2x12. I can't believe I over looked this guitar for so many years. I guess I always thought they looked kind of plain and were too expensive. My loss up until now. This guitar has an amazing amount of possible tones. I can't say enough good things about it and I know Ibanez guitars are built to last as I have had an RG that is still kicking after 23 years of abuse. If in doubt, I would highly recommend giving this guitar a try.

This guitar is great except for the neck plate on the back of the body. Its about an 1/8th of an inch thick and it really gets in the way of your hand while you are playing on the upper frets. I think you might be able to remove the plate and get some shorter screws so they would not come through the neck. Personally, just buy an S series, it plays about the same and you can upgrade the pickups if they aren't to your liking and you will save cash too...

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:
it lets me play everything ive ever wanted and it is super fast to play love the radius of the neck too
Ok So its got 22 frets, locking trem and nut rosewood board over a maple neck, gotah tuners, push pull nobs (more on those later) low friction volume and tone nob three way pickup selector switch.
out of the factory i noticed that the tr4em sits slightly more to one side of the cavity, however this does not really affect playability, check out rich at Ibanez Rules he talked alot about every guitar having to have adjustments madde to it no maztter how good they are . the paint was beauiful candy apple red. all the screws were nice and tight out of the factory. the neck was straight as heck too!!
pretty expensive but u get the ability to sound like a strat with the coil split and jhighpass filter
Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:
Overall, I love Joe a lot.
I think the most unique feature is the split pickups on this guitar. They've been really fun to experiment with. This is my first and only electric, having started on a nylon string classical acoustic. I actually had my eye on a Fender but this is the red guitar I call "Joe" (not very original, I know, but a Joe I know did show me some of my first chords ever).
Good sound, can be delicate and can be loud. Crank it to 11, or keep it at 4. "Street Spirit Fadeout" is the most fun to play.
This instrument will last my guitar-playing life!
Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:
it has been 2weeks since this guitar came to me, so I am now finding out all about it..it is quite a short period of time to make any final conclussions but I can really say this - every following day I play it, I become more familiar with it and I am able to play much far beyond my strat limits (I own the S.R.V. strat)..this guitar is getting under my skin,people..
it sounds very good, it is not a classical metal weapon (I am glad for that) , though you can of course play metal with it, no biggy, but it has rather rock and bluesy feel (as Joe says he wanted a guitar with a vintage feel - so it is!!!) but still it is pretty agressive. it has a very good articulation, plays very concrete even with a very high gain. very versatile guitar, with the coils split you get more sound possibilities, if you do work with the Volume knob - even more..
the only problem is with the trem - it is not 100% reliable, does not come back to its "zero" position, it needs some help (I orderred the Goldo backbox, which I hope will do the right job).
the neck is very comfortable, great acces to all possitions, I am impressed with this instrument - although it was not a love at first sight - at the second it is!!!!
there is NOTHING to point at - the finish is perfect, the frets are well cleaned off, maybe the knobs are much too easy to turn around, but it is just my own feeling
I think this guitar will pay you back every cent you spent on it!!!
Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:
I never write reviews, never, but this guitar is outstanding in every sense. I have a Les Paul Custom, and Eric Johnson Strat and a few others. This guitar defines the term "Play ability". A lightning fast neck and tone that I will put up against my Les Paul anytime. I really love the candy-apple red color. It is inspiring and I reach for this one over my other guitars all of the time.
Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:
What a beautiful instrument . I have a Gibson Les Paul Custom that I love , a couple of Kramers , and have had Strats .This guitar is awesome . The only thing I would have changed was the color , but when I played it in the store , it silenced any doubts about me taking it home . One word ; Wow .
Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:
I have just turned off my amplifier and put my JS1200ca back on its stand and once again I am astounded at how good this guitar is. Without exaggeration it is inspiring. It beckons you to keep playing, it rewards you with sweet articulation and beautiful harmonics and tone, tone, TONE!!! There is not really much else to say other than this guitar is pound for pound as good as any guitar on the market; PRS, Gibson... this thing will hold its own in ANY company. Versatile enough to play sweet and dirty blues with the pickup splitter and then all that sweet (not noisy or harsh) tone with the humbuckers in full noise. I have found that with the JS I play with much less gain, the guitar just uses what ever is dialed in so well, you don't need to feed it much. Just plug it in, turn it UP, close your eyes and listen to this beauty, it just sings and sings.Obviously I'm a massive JS fan, but if you are considering this guitar, forget about the man who's name is on it or what brand it is, just go to your local store pick one up, plug it in and play it - even strait off the shelf and see for yourself.AMAZING Guitar. 5 Stars all around.
Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:
This guitar is the one. I've have American made Fender Strat, Peavey Wolfgangs, new EVH Fender custom shop Wolfgangs, Jackson DK1. All excellent guitars. But this is the one I come back to. The neck is faster than anything I've played or own. The versatility is absolutely crazy. From blues, to jazz, to Van Halen to Metallica. Everything about this guitar is exceptional. You cannot go wrong with this purchase. And considering the price, the value is excellent. 3000 for EVH, 1800 for Jackson DK1, this guitar is a steal!

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:
I am not much of a guitar player and have only learned by watching guitar instruction DVDs. My main instrument is a studio full of synthesizers. For the past couple of years I have been learning on a Mexican made Fender fat strat. I like the guitar but it always felt too big for my hands in the neck and I had difficulty reaching notes for many chords. It was also kind of noisy and made a lot of hum. So, as a birthday present to myself I decided to try a completely different guitar type and I bought a JS 1200. All I can say is I am in love. It feels so much better than the fender strat and reaching chords is now easy. The JS 1200 just feels perfect as it was custom made to fit my hands and fingers. For sound, it is amazing. I hate how noisy my fender is but the JS 1200 is so quiet. No hum at all. And of course the sound quality is beyond belief. I thought I had made a dumb mistake by spending so much for a guitar because I suck at playing, but now I feel that I made one of the best investments of my life. All I can say is buy one. A JS 1200 is the feeling and sound of guitar perfection.
