A complete sonic arsenal for guitarists.
Guitarists are often called upon to cover all sorts of sounds and textures: acoustic, electric, rhythm, lead. Unfortunately, this usually results in a car full of extra gear. Not anymore: the Ibanez Montage acoustic-electric guitar is a complete sonic arsenal for busy working musicians. You can get any sound, from purely clear acoustic to heavily distorted electric and everything in between, in just one guitar. Your dilemma is now no longer an issue. Just grab the Ibanez Montage guitar, and you're all set for the gig.
A simple version of Montage, the Ibanez MSC350BK, features a 3-way switch that enables you to get both acoustic and electric guitar sounds. The black guitar features Ibanez' original M300 Preamp with 3-band EQ and onboard tuner. The MSC350BK also features volume and gain, plus anti-feedback and tone controls (clockwise from top).
The Ibanez guitar's Under Saddle pickup, along with 3-band EQ with anti-feedback system, delivers clear acoustic tone without any compromise. The magnetic pickup and gain control give you distorted electric guitar sound instantly. The Ivorex II nut is stronger and more durable than bone and even harder than the original Ivorex. Ivorex II nuts allow brilliant highs and more pronounced lows with less mid-range, which makes Ivorex II-fitted guitars perfect for amplification.
The Ibanez Montage acoustic-electric guitar has four separate knobs that allow impressive control over volume, gain, anti-feedback frequency and tone. The overdrive also features a gain knob to adjust the level of distortion. The Ibanez Montage guitar can also blend the sounds using the toggle switch and the EQ filters for very dynamic and customizable tones.
This is a great acoustic-electric guitar, especially for a lead singer, who is playing in a band with an acoustic rock sound. You can get nice full tone without the sound of other instruments, but when the rest of the band comes in, this Ibanez guitar has the features to add more beef to the mix. Because this guitar is so versatile with acoustic guitar sounds, electric guitar sounds, it's a one-guitar ticket to any jam, gig, or street performance. Just grab it and go.

I absolutely Love the tone, and playability of this guitar in both the acoustic, and electric modes. The antifeedback controls absolutely live up to the hype. The has a very smooth fretboard, and frets easily without buzzing. The unplugged tone is still good despite being thinner than a normal acoustic, and still has deep lows, and mids. The only thing that bugs me is not a gripe with the guitar really. It's more about the description. The guitar underwent a revision, and no longer includes chorus and reverb. You can adjust the tone, and gain controls to push the magnetic pickup into overdrive for a fairly nice distortion, but i was disappointed to find out that Ibanez removed the reverb, and chorus controls.
This guitar makes so many different sounds, and very impressively. The acoustic, acoustic/electric mix, and the electric modes give it many enjoyable voices. The acoustic voice is the classic jazz arch-top voice, the electric is strong and adjustable. The built in tuner is handy too. This guitar is a great package. Its not a high priced guitar, but its an incredible value at it's price point.
It is nicely finished, good tuners, good heft.
I bought my Montage based on my need for a hybrid acoustic / electric. It looks great, plays nice and meets my needs. The acoustic side sounds better than the electric side, but the electric side (overdrive etc.) is pretty decent. The acoustic side sounds great through my BOSE L1 system. . . very rich and warm, not at all tinny which is how a lot of acoustic electrics sound. Very pleased. BTW. . . I bought it from MF 'used' ($100 bucks off). I gotta figure somebody bought it and sent it back for some unknown reason because there is no damage or defect whatsoever on this particular guitar.
This guitar its so good in so many ways. If You like to play acoustic or electric give it a try. I bought it and it delivers that acoustic sound i was looking for.
A lot of hype with all the on board stuff, but it doesn't live up. Lots of buzz and feedback, and the highest frets tend to sound almost the same on the high e. I took it in to a guitar shop and the first thing he said was "well obviously we are dealing with a low quality guitar right?" Oh boy...Gave it back and used the money towards a nice breedlove. That guitar is amazing. In this price range however, I believe there are deans and others that make much higher quality instruments. This just didn't work.
I totally disagree with the previous review. This rig is very well built. The finish is flawless, and the body is stable and strong. As for feedback, it is still an acoustic / electric, and the onboard anti-feed back circuitry, if used correctly can handle anything you can throw at it. The tones this guitar can generate are truly breathtaking.
