The quality control out of the factory is not good. I received my guitar with a dead 12th fret, and a buzzing 3rd fret. Nothing that cant be fixed with a tune up. Another complaint is that the bars on the fretboard are sharp on the bottom, and after playing for a while, my finger was gashed. Other than those complaints, the guitar is great and the eleectric sound is solid. The onboard tuner is also quite useful.

I purchased this guitar about 1 1/2 years ago, and wasn't too excited when I received it, and I'm even less excited now that I've had it for some time. The tone is not as good as some Fenders. In fact, consider going with the Fender CD140SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar for the same price. I tried this at a local shop and the tone was excellent, warm where it needed it to be and sharp in the highs, with excellent action. On the Ibanez, the pickup works when it wants to - sometimes the XLR works, sometimes the 1/4 works - it's not the cables as I've tried many different options. So the combination of not so great tone, poor quality with the pickup/connector, makes give this guitar a thumbs down. Too bad because I own another Ibanez dreadnought without the electronics that sounds, feels, and plays excellent, but I paid a couple hundred more for. In short, if this is your price range, go with the Fender or a Yamaha acoustic - Ibanez, you need to improve.

Good Guitar for the money.I bought a almost new one and It was like a new one. The only thing I am unhappy with is the sloppy tuning machine heads. Not a very positive feel makeing it hard to tune. They almost feel striped and or cheap.

amazing guitar, but.....

By Jay-Tdin1

I bought this guitar to play in my church band. It was wonderful for the money, and has a wonderful sound. In fact, in my opinion, its the best sounding acoustic electric in the price range. But now, 3 months later, after normal use, the frets have worn down causing the strings to rattle against the next fret. So now I am stuck with an annoying rattle, and I don't have the money to fix it and especially don't have money to replace it. Ibanez, which is normally a wonderful company, has really let me down. I treated this guitar like it was my child, it doesn't have a scratch or dent on it after 3 months, and apparently, in order to keep it sounding good, you can't play it either. Stay away from this guitar, it really let me down.

Doesn't dissappoint

Great guitar for the price. Electronics are far better than other guitars in this price range. Finish is nice, tuners could be better and I needed to adjust the truss rod to get rid of some fret buzz. I did get mine for a steal, when I went into my local shop to try a V series acoustic but said I had to have it in natural, they offered me the PF at just slightly over $200, and after playing it knew it was a steal at that price. I plan to use it for a travel, practice guitar that might see some abuse and it seemed perfect for what I needed.

Great Value!

By Robert-JjPL.

I've owned an Ibanez PF5ECE for about 6 months and I love it! Like a lot of other people here I was skeptical, but after playing it I knew I had to buy it. It sounds great, plays great and looks great. I havent had a chance to use the pick up, but I bought a guitar with one in case I ever did and recording or started playing for my church. The Downsides- Action it a bit high. Easily fixed, but still worth noting. Stock strings not for everyone, again, esily fixed, but they can fool you when you play it at your local shop. Tuner is a bit slow to respond. Upsides- Looks...Everyone loves the looks of this guitar, they think it's worth WAY more that I paid for it! Comfort...easy to play for hours, and great for songwriting. Sound...It's not a Taylor or a Martin, but I think it sounds great considering the price. Bottom line- Awesome sound, features, looks, value, etc. Great for a fist time player, or a seasoned veteran!

There is nothing too fancy about this guitar. it has all the essentials and is very versatile. The onboard tuner works very well and comes in handy. it always stays in tune. Plugged and unplugged it sounds great. a little bit of buzzing on the low E. Has a nice full sound and a lot of projection. Not a ton of sustain. I play in many different settings such as auditoriums, basements, venues and many other places. No matter where I go or what system I plug into, it sounds good. Both the 1/4 in and XLR outputs work well plus they come in handy because I can plug into basically any system or amp that I want. Electronics use AA which is nice because I never have 9-volts. EQ works very well. Built solid. no cracks or separation. If you are looking for a good guitar, this is the best one for its price. It has everything you need and is extremely useful. Best guitar you can buy for the money. I have no regrets buying this guitar.
