The quality control out of the factory is not good. I received my guitar with a dead 12th fret, and a buzzing 3rd fret. Nothing that cant be fixed with a tune up. Another complaint is that the bars on the fretboard are sharp on the bottom, and after playing for a while, my finger was gashed. Other than those complaints, the guitar is great and the eleectric sound is solid. The onboard tuner is also quite useful.

I purchased this guitar about 1 1/2 years ago, and wasn't too excited when I received it, and I'm even less excited now that I've had it for some time. The tone is not as good as some Fenders. In fact, consider going with the Fender CD140SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar for the same price. I tried this at a local shop and the tone was excellent, warm where it needed it to be and sharp in the highs, with excellent action. On the Ibanez, the pickup works when it wants to - sometimes the XLR works, sometimes the 1/4 works - it's not the cables as I've tried many different options. So the combination of not so great tone, poor quality with the pickup/connector, makes give this guitar a thumbs down. Too bad because I own another Ibanez dreadnought without the electronics that sounds, feels, and plays excellent, but I paid a couple hundred more for. In short, if this is your price range, go with the Fender or a Yamaha acoustic - Ibanez, you need to improve.

Good Guitar for the money.I bought a almost new one and It was like a new one. The only thing I am unhappy with is the sloppy tuning machine heads. Not a very positive feel makeing it hard to tune. They almost feel striped and or cheap.

amazing guitar, but.....

By Jay-Tdin1

from Undisclosed

I bought this guitar to play in my church band. It was wonderful for the money, and has a wonderful sound. In fact, in my opinion, its the best sounding acoustic electric in the price range. But now, 3 months later, after normal use, the frets have worn down causing the strings to rattle against the next fret. So now I am stuck with an annoying rattle, and I don't have the money to fix it and especially don't have money to replace it. Ibanez, which is normally a wonderful company, has really let me down. I treated this guitar like it was my child, it doesn't have a scratch or dent on it after 3 months, and apparently, in order to keep it sounding good, you can't play it either. Stay away from this guitar, it really let me down.

Doesn't dissappoint

Great guitar for the price. Electronics are far better than other guitars in this price range. Finish is nice, tuners could be better and I needed to adjust the truss rod to get rid of some fret buzz. I did get mine for a steal, when I went into my local shop to try a V series acoustic but said I had to have it in natural, they offered me the PF at just slightly over $200, and after playing it knew it was a steal at that price. I plan to use it for a travel, practice guitar that might see some abuse and it seemed perfect for what I needed.

Great Value!

By Robert-JjPL.

from Lake Havasu City, AZ

I've owned an Ibanez PF5ECE for about 6 months and I love it! Like a lot of other people here I was skeptical, but after playing it I knew I had to buy it. It sounds great, plays great and looks great. I havent had a chance to use the pick up, but I bought a guitar with one in case I ever did and recording or started playing for my church. The Downsides- Action it a bit high. Easily fixed, but still worth noting. Stock strings not for everyone, again, esily fixed, but they can fool you when you play it at your local shop. Tuner is a bit slow to respond. Upsides- Looks...Everyone loves the looks of this guitar, they think it's worth WAY more that I paid for it! Comfort...easy to play for hours, and great for songwriting. Sound...It's not a Taylor or a Martin, but I think it sounds great considering the price. Bottom line- Awesome sound, features, looks, value, etc. Great for a fist time player, or a seasoned veteran!

There is nothing too fancy about this guitar. it has all the essentials and is very versatile. The onboard tuner works very well and comes in handy. it always stays in tune. Plugged and unplugged it sounds great. a little bit of buzzing on the low E. Has a nice full sound and a lot of projection. Not a ton of sustain. I play in many different settings such as auditoriums, basements, venues and many other places. No matter where I go or what system I plug into, it sounds good. Both the 1/4 in and XLR outputs work well plus they come in handy because I can plug into basically any system or amp that I want. Electronics use AA which is nice because I never have 9-volts. EQ works very well. Built solid. no cracks or separation. If you are looking for a good guitar, this is the best one for its price. It has everything you need and is extremely useful. Best guitar you can buy for the money. I have no regrets buying this guitar.

This is a great acoustic/electric guitar. I have owned it for a little while now and have been greatly impressed. It has a great, rich unplugged tone that you don't normally find in this price range and the Fishman pickup and preamp are remarkable. Definitely recommend to a semi pro if your looking for something dependable and a good value.

A good Acroustic for the money

This is a good acroustic for the money. Don't hesitate to order this acroustic off of your compruter without actually trying out the acroustic first. Take my word for it. It sounds good and plays pretty nice for the price range. I like the built in tuner on this acroustic. It makes tuning up the acroustic a snap.

LOVE IT!

By Anonymous

Everyone loves the dark mahogany wood! The picture honestly does not do the guitar any justice. It looks really nice and it plays great. I've had it for a year now, and it's a good guitar for its price. The low E string rattles sometimes when i put on a capo but other than that it has a nice tone. You should probably change the stock strings, but that's about it.

Best Guitar I Own

By Anonymous

I received this as a birthday present two years ago and have not been able to bring myself to get a new acoustic since. I was originally looking at a Takamine of a similar shape but what swayed me to this was the electronics. Sounds great plugged in and the tone is incredible especially with a set of high quality strings. Beest guitar I own and my third arm on stage.

My First Ibanez but not my last

I bought this Guitar last September and can't put it down. I've practically warn it out. The tone is Great, it's easy to play and it feels good. I play with a friend who has a Taylor and another with a Larravee. Both well over a Grand a piece. My Ibanez keeps up with them with ease. I would not hesitate to buy another Ibanez.

Awesome Guitar

This guitar is AWESOME! It sounds great unplugged. The tone is so rich and pure when plugged in or not. This is by far the best guitar on the market for the price. If you are looking for a great guitar, look no further. 100% satisfied.

Awesome guitar for all levels of skill

By ChrisPatis

from Kapolei, HI

I bought this guitar when I was in 8th grade and after 4 years it is still in very good condition. It is a beautiful guitar with a nice round sound and is amazing when plugged in. However, I suggest for all users to buy light strings since this guitar is not the easiest to play bar chords with. After 30+ minute shows, I often found my hands cramping with this guitar. Overall, the quality is just amazing and it won't let you down. I personally recommend this guitar to everyone who has a passion for music because it is a bit on the high-end of price.

Excellent guitar

By FSF9180-lIyCy

from Tucson, AZ

I've had my Ibanez PF5ECE for about 1 month now and ive been loving it. The sounds are pure and the notes are clean, the electronics work great, and it is also a beautiful guitar. The only problem that my PF5ECE has at the moment is buzzing. I found that the buzzing is coming from the bottom where the battery pack is and where you plug in the guitar. There was a loose screw because one of the slots for a screw was stripped, and it was causing the buzzing. I will just put in a bigger screw to fix that though. Now, the battery pack is causing some of the buzzing too. If I push in on the battery pack when im playing the buzzing stops. To fix this one I will probably just place a small piece of rubber in the space so it wont buzz on that side. Overall the guitar is great, and it has pretty much everything I could want in an acoustic/electric. The built in tuner is a VERY handy piece of equipment might I add. My guitar could have been built a bit stronger, but its a good guitar for the price.

It is worth getting

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I was very skeptical about getting this guitar. I had gotten an acoustic electric before and had problems with the pickup but this guitar is simply GREAT. It sounds like an acoustic guitar should and when plugged in, the sound is just PERFECT. What I like about it is, it has a built in tuner and has two ports(a normal jack and the three-pin connector thing) that you can connect to an amp..
