    A versatile, affordable rocker's weapon.

The Ibanez RG3EXFM1 electric guitar has the pickups and pickup placement that give you the hard-edged cutting tone you want for heavy rock.

As heavy as it rocks, this Ibanez RG guitar is made of basswood, a comparatively lightweight wood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is right in-between alder and mahogany in sound character. The guitar's flamed maple top not only adds beauty, but just a bit of extra brightness to make individual notes stand out. 24 frets offer you easy playing for leads and chords.

The IBZ V7 (Vintage 7) neck pickup is tight, but bright. Very dynamic for chording and rhythm. The IBZ V8 (Vintage 8) bridge pickup is a warm, yet articulate lead pickup with enhanced overtones. The RG3EXFM1 electric guitar has good harmonics without excessive brightness.

Since 1987, many players have selected Ibanez RG guitars as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With the right choice of pickups and flat, fast necks the RG3EXFM1 is crunching its way to classic status.dynmaics

I guarantee you will never want to sell this guitar, even if you upgrade eventually. It's an axe you will always want in your arsenal, because it has a certain kind of personality that a lot of other guitars lack. It's reliable, and it can take a beating like no other. I love this guitar, and I will never sell it!

If it was ever stolen from me or I lost it somehow, I would make it a priority to get another one, even if I had an arsenal of more expensive guitars already.

It is also beautiful. Just look at those photos!
I have the Transparent Gray Burst, but If I ever wanted a second guitar for the same price without a trem system, I'd pick up the Cherry model as an alternate.

If you're debating on guitars in this price range, do yourself a favor and just pick this one up. You won't regret it, and you'll have this axe at your side for years to come.
The most notable feature is the 5-way pickup switch. It allows for versatility in ANY style. This thing can belt out perfectly for metal rhythms and leads with the far bridge and neck positions, and with the other 3 positions you can pull out a really smooth and punchy tone for jazz and blues. You can even get it to give off a good twang for country and western.

The tuning pegs also stay in tune extremely well at nearly any tuning. As an example I recently tried tuning to B standard/Drop A. Now, I normally play in Eb with light strings. With these same .09 stings, I'm able to stay in tune very well even at these low tunings. Almost as well as if I were in E standard or Eb. It's one of the few guitars, if not the ONLY one I've ever played that can manage to stay in tune this well without a double locking trem system.

The neck, like most RG's, is trimmed into a thin "[" shape. It will allow you to glide effortlessly across the fretboard. I've also noticed that this particular neck-shape makes bar-chording much easier as well.

The body is made of basswood, so it has a very warm and thick tone, but this guitar still manages to achieve bright and clear leads. The sustain is amazing as well. Because of the basswood, this guitar is very light in weight. It would be cake to carry around on stage for several hours at a time. It's the only guitar I've personally played that is extremely light wieght, but has an extremely HEAVY sound!
I've had this guitar for over 3 years and I can tell you that this is no mid range guitar. The only thing mid range about this instrument are the pickups, which can easily be swapped out for something better. (I haven't done this yet, but I plan on it very soon.)

    Here's what you're looking at.

Everything about this guitar is what you'd expect to find in one that costs upwards of $1,500-2,000 EXCEPT for the pickups. So you can buy this axe for $350, swap out the pickups for another $200, and you'll have a guitar with the complete quality of a VERY high range instrument for a total of $550-600 dollars.

If you're a beginner, get this guitar.
If you're an intermmediate player, get this guitar.
If you're a professional, get this guitar.

    You will not regret it!
Like I've said before, the value of this instrument is quite literally unbeatable. I'd be willing to bet that if you handed this to a professional without telling them the price they'd think they were playing a very high-end guitar.

The only thing is the pickups. Easy fix, and cheaper to replace than buying a guitar for a high-end price.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

For the price of this guitar it is an amazing instrument. If I had the choice between my RG3EXFM1 and a brand new Gibson Les Paul I would pick my Ibanez in a heartbeat. Excellent quality, design, and a wonderful feel make this the greatest guitar I've ever played.

Everything I hoped for and more!

    By James Berry

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

This is going to be a very simple review. I have had about 30 Les Pauls in my lifetime, some which was thousands of dollars. The Ibanez RG3EXFM1 plays better than any of them....yes that is what I said, it`s better. The wide fingerboard and jumbo frets make this a joy to play. The pickups sound good and full.
It seems to be very solid and well constructed. I took it out of the box and started playing. The frets are leveled and polished to perfection. The action right out of the box was fantastic....I haven`t changed anything.
Buy this guitar as soon as you can...it`s great all the way around.

    You Just Can't Beat It

    By Eddie Rosado

    from Hartford, CT

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

    A must-get, no-regret. That's all I have to say.
The five-way switch can be used for all sorts of sounds, so it makes it very versatile for solos and leads. You can use this guitar for all sorts of playing styles too.
Amazing. The flame maple top is something I would expect from a high-end guitar like Gibson, but it isn't $2,700. The binding is perfect, and the flame on the headstock is sick. The rosewood also feels and looks fabulous. The tuners also hold their tune amazingly. I restrung my Ibanez with .11-gauge strings after my stock e-string lasted over fourteen months, and the rest of the strings still look alive. I did replace all strings though because it wouldn't make sense replacing one string.

The tone knob, though, doesn't work on mine, but that is no way Ibanez's fault. People at Guitar Center (not the employees because they know what they're doing, but more so costumers) come in and fiddle with the guitars alot. I might have the good folks at Guitar Center at Manchester, CT have a look at that.
For the price, you'd be shocked at how good this thing is. You'd expect quality like this from a multi-thousand dollar guitar. A must-get, no-regret guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. I've for about 2 years and i've loved every second of having it. The only thing I dont like is that the pickup selector mutes the sound sometimes but i think that's my fault. Don't think twice before buying this guitar. go for it.

    Jazz ax

    By Dennis Watts

    from Anaheim, CA.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

Again, this is not a straight ahead rock guitar. That said, it can rock in the right hands. If you want a nice cross-over ax, that doesn't damage your wallet, try this one out. You won't be sad!
Basic no frills guitar. EMG style p/u's are quiet & clean. 5-way switch offers enough sound variations for most genres. The best part is the flat neck. Extended chords and octaves are easy to land and sound in tune. If your strat is frustrating you, try this one out.
The quality is great for the price. Ibanez has this price range down cold. Some won't like the light weight, which is due to the chambered body. Personally, I love it! The old bones appreciate not being weighted down, plus the sound is enhanced with the chambering.
Looks great! Sounds great! Plays great! Price is easy to swallow! What's not to like!?

    Unbelievable

    By Boogie Man-2SHRa

    from Saint Augustine, FL

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

Overall a 9.5 of 10. Hotter pickups and neck thru would make this an 11 !
Pickups are a bit weak, but having a 5-position switch is better than a 3-position on say, a Les paul or Flying V. Only downer is the bolt-on neck but that doesn't change the sound too much. The playability is awesome- even on the highest frets. The neck has a great shape and a nice radius on the fingerboard but not too much. The frets are nice and big. The string-thru body gives excellent tone.
I am shocked at the high quality of this instrument- for $300 I would never have thought I'd receive a guitar with such perfect binding and finish. Immaculate and glass smooth. Those Indonesians have pride in their workmanship as evidenced in this guitar. It even has good intonation even at the trick 3rd fret. I bought a Gibson Les Paul for $1800 that required a full setup to get as close as this guitar is to fully intonated.
What is left to say? For the price I've not seen anyting better- if you can't rip it up on this fiddle you won't be rippin' on an expensive one either.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar to replace my Epiphone SG 1966 re issue custom. I was unsure about it at first. I grew to love it very quickly. The clean tone is incredible and at the same time you can pack a heavy overdrive punch. The pickups are amazing and the neck is perfect. Straight as an arrow. Out of my arcinal of 7 guitar's, it's by far the most vercitile guitar I have ever owned.
