Sonic flexibility and cool trans finishes.

The solid basswood body provides great resonance, especially on the bottom tones. The quilted maple top is not only beautiful, but adds clarity and sparkle to your tone. 24 jumbo frets offer easy playing for leads and chording, and an Edge III tremolo bridge allows you to dive-bomb to your heart's content. Features 2 Ibanez INF humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions, an INF single coil in the middle and a bolt-on 3-piece maple neck with a headstock to match the body. The quilted maple top, wide neck and binding and shark tooth inlays on a 25-1/2"-scale rosewood fingerboard give it a striking both sweet and dangerous look. 24 jumbo frets deliver insane playability for riffers and shredders alike.

The Ibanez RG4EXQM1 electric guitar's pickups and pickup placement provide the hard-edged cutting tone needed for heavy rock.

Since 1987, many players have selected the Ibanez RG as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With the right choice of pickups plus flat and fast necks, the RG has crunched its way to classic status. To the RG's lethal combination of features, RG Prestige models add the comfortable, rounded feel of Prestige neck finishing, drop-dead good looks and great electronics and hardware.

Okay people, I'm gonna give it to you straight - This Ibanez rules! As others have pointed out, this is an excellent guitar! When you factor in the features and the price tag, well, you can't beat it with a stick. Or another guitar.

Back in '97 I bought an Ibanez RG470DX. As soon as I picked it up I knew there was something special about it. The wizard neck especially blew me away. It seemed like it was made for my hands, like it was made for me. Fast-forward 14 years and I found myself needing a new axe. I already knew that I was going to get another Ibanez RG, but what kind? Well folks, that's where I let the price and the features decide for me.

    --PROS
24 fret wizard neck? Check. H-S-H pickup configuration? Check. Floyd-Rose style locking tremolo? Check. Sweet paint job and finish? Check.

Also there were a few improvments over the last RG I had. Of note are the pickups (INF3 INFS3 INF4) which sound great! The older INF1 and 2's weren't bad but these are definitely an improvement. I tend to play metal type riffs and rythms, and John Petrucci-esque leads. This guitar was made for metal, and it is right at home with it. That being said, selecting the middle single coil or a combo of that with the neck humbucker will give you some solid clean tones, and with distortion you can roll back the volume a little to get an acceptable bluesy sound.
Also, the new neck is even slimmer and faster than the old one. If your style(s) of music take you all over the fretboard like mine do, then you will really appreciate what they've done here.

    --CONS
If I had any complaints to make about this guitar, then it would have to do with the tremolo system. In particular, the whammy bar doesn't lock in so it swings freely all the time. Also, I've noticed that after some heavy use or a deep dive bomb that it doesn't always return to the exact "zero" point. In other words, sometimes I gotta use the fine-tuners afterward. That was never a problem with the old Ibanez. Since I hardly ever use the whammy bar anyway that really isn't too much of a problem. I have a strong bend and vibrato and the guitar stays in tune fine during a normal daily use (roughly 2-4 hours).

    --TL;DR
Buy this guitar! Great pickups, fast neck. The price is cheap enough for the novice, but has features that an expert can appreciate.

My band mate and friend Zach has this guitar and it is harder to setup then any guitar I have setup in my life. I mostly play Ibanez's with Floyd Roses, so that is not the problem. The problem is this guitar is a piece of crap and overpriced and takes 3 hours to change the strings and setup and then you realize it plays like crap so you spend another 3 hours.

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

This guitar sounds great and also looks fantastic! The pickups are great, the tremolo system could be a little better, but I think its human error not the guitar. The neck is so thin, it's so quick and easy to play on! Overall great guitar.
Built hard and sturdy. Looks great too.
For the money you spend, you get what you pay for and so much more!

    Like it alot

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

In this money class it stands up.I have an Epi Les Paul and Epi SG.I upgraded the pickups and they DONT sound like low end guitars.I plan to do the same with this and expect I will get the same results.Try before you buy if you can.
I bought this guitar mainly for the two hummbuckers and a single coil.I have 7 guitars none of them have both types of pickups. The price was good and quilted top is high on my list.Caught on sale and came with a case.Plays well.Love the wizard neck.I do plan to upgrade the pickups this summer after some research.I think this guitar is worth the money and Im glad I have it in my arsenal.I play threw a Mustang V and Fender Deluxe III.Sounds good with both.Bottom of frets were little rough.Filed down good now.The body was in great shape.Very minor flaw on neck. You have to look hard to see. With sale price and case its a keeper and im picky. This guitar can do alot can get heavy and bluesy and good clean.Im happy with this. .
Gave it a 8 out of 10 in this price range its hard to beat.
Again caught on sale and came with a case. Quilted top.It was a strong buy!

    Excellent guitar !

For the money I would say its superior !!!
It's the best guitar i've ever played by far! I've been playing over 20 years, Gibson, Fender,Paul reed Smith etc. and for the money it beats them all hands down. I converted it into a Jem by putting on a pick guard, and spicing it up with new Dimarzio" Evolutions".

    I'm diggin it.

    By Spencer Jones

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

Over all I'm very pleased with this guitar. I was a bit hesitant due to some of the comments about the tremolo, but I figured it out. It looks great, and it plays great! And has a hot paint job. I've gotten way more compliments to this guitar than I ever did to my strat.
A great feeling neck and action, and 2 humbuckers. I come from playing a SSS Fender Strat, and bought this as a practice guitar...turns out I like it better.
This thing is solid. Some people have complained about the tremolo...yeah it's PITA to tune initially....but if you do everything right...it stays in tune. Crack down on the two bolts for the bridge, keep tuning...make sure the strings are the right height from the neck (it's in the instruction manual)...crank down on the bridge a bit more...and eventually you will get it tuned...and it will stay that way even after using the tremolo.
Value...I got a smoking deal...and like this thing better than my Fender Strat that i've had for over 20 years. It just feels better, and suprisingly it cost less. Biggest bang for my buck that I've ever gotten.

    AWESOME GUITAR!

    By Tyler Suggs

    from South Carolina

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

Overall this guitar is fantastic. If you're into metal go ahead and buy it!
I got this guitar a few months ago and its the best guitar I've ever played! Right out of the box this guitar was ready to go, all it needed was a little tune up. The locking tuners are confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it with practice. The guitar stays in tune pretty well. There are only a few times that I have to re-tune it. The pickups have lots of personality, but are also good for "chugs". If you're into metal this is a must for you.

Great Guitar at a Great Price!

    By Solomon Parecki

    from New York

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

Overall, this guitar is amazing. The humbuckers make sure that there is no hum when you go crazy with the distortion, and the single coil and tone knob allows you to get crisp clean tones out of it as well. It is versatile, though from the addition of the tremolo bar as well as its design, it is built more for hard rock and metal. Even if hard rock and metal aren't your styles, give it a go anyway, you'll be surprised at how good it sounds on the clean channel of any amp! I would definitely recommend this guitar to any player of any level, and I would not hesitate to buy another one if mine were to be stolen.
The features on this guitar are what compelled me to buy it. The humbuckers make it great for the most extreme forms of rock while stile allowing you to play clean with great tone! It has a 5 way pickup selector to allow you to get many different tones from it in combination with the tone knob. It's 24 frets give you two octaves on each string for extended tonal range (one of the main reasons I bought this guitar). Also, the tremolo bar is simply amazing! I can do divebombs all I want and stay in tune thanks to the floyd rose licensed double locking tremolo! The quilted maple top and beautiful finish options allow you to get a truly eye opening guitar with great features!
This guitar is really a step up in quality from my first guitar, a Squier Bullet Strat. The tone I get from my RG4EXQM1 is simply a lot more pleasing to the ear thanks to better tone woods and really just better quality in general. This guitar even plays better than some Gibsons I've played, and for half the price!
This guitar plays like one worth 3 times more! Ibanez deserves a lot more recognition than they get, as they produce great guitars able to hold their own against Gibsons and Fenders but for better prices! This guitar is a steal!

    By Gibsonian

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

Buy it you won't be disappointed.
It has three HOT pickups a floyd rose, and 24 frets, what more could you ask for. This thing rocks hard. Try finding a guitar with a quilted maple top in this price range from any other company. This has an amazing lead sound. It could sound a little bit better clean (not that it sounds bad at all), but driven this thing is amazing. Its warm when it needs to be, and its bright when it needs to be. Even the bridge pickup has some really neat warm sounds right at the perfect times. Its so cool. The neck pickup is really amazing too. The single coil is probably the hottest single coil I've ever played. For being so hot they have a really fast reaction time. Usually overwould pickups are a little slower reaction, but not these. They flat get after it.
    Its well built and beautiful.
    Low in price great guitar.

    Great for the money

    By M-PkCyH

    from TN

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

This Guitar was given to me as a gift, to be used as a travel guitar. I have a pretty decent collection that includes two high end (at least what I consider high end)Ibanez guitars (1989 RG550 & UV777). In my opinion, this guitar is pure fun. If you want a great mid range guitar, that you do not have to worry about...this is the axe for you. Although I find no fault in the INF pick-ups...with a swap out for some Evos and a professional set up, this could look and play as well as a guitar twice its price. The quilted top eases out of the black finish to reveal a greyish almost silver burst, which is accented beautifully by the white binding. The finish ultimately spells out professional player. Straight off the shelf, no PU change and no set up work....pure fun.
