The insanely playable RGA is now elegantly topped with quilted maple.
The RGA archtop guitar not only has hot curves but playability. For live performance, its lightweight body gives players more freedom to prowl around stage. The arched top also lets players knock down heavy riffs and power chords without hitting the guitar body. All told, curved beauty and great performance combine gracefully and powerfully in the RGA. And now, it's available with a beautiful quilted maple top.

Comments about Ibanez RGA8QM 8-String Electric Guitar:
Overall this is a solid, well built, beautiful instruemnt that with a pickup replacment of your choice can be a top shelf guitar with years of road work. Excellent quiality went into building this instrument, so besides the pickups I have nothing but admiration for Ibanez and the quality of workmanship put into this guitar.
Thanks Ibanez.... Well done! Win, win...
Very well built guitar, Just like the 2228, and the original RGA8-BK, this new RGA8QM is innovative, classic and very functional. I now has improved cutaway horns for the upper register to reach those higher notes much easier, improved bridge security for the stabilizing screw and an excellent finish, a bit more interesting than black. Well built and feels very solid in my hands.
As for quality, I've played a lot of guitars, and I believe this is a very good instrument for the money, besides the pickups. It would get a higher score, but for the fact that it doesn't use a 9v battery, but instead 2 AA batteries. Now I know the power drain is much better with the smaller AA batteries, but Double A's in a guitar.... Really? And it does nothing for the tone.
I'm not saying the pickups are terrible, because you can dial it in and get a useable tone out of them, but they are quite a bit muddy, and lack that sparkle at the top end. I replaced my first one's pickup with BKP Cold Sweats, best thing I ever did... this time around I will be putting the Lace X-bar (Neck)and Deathbar (Bridge) in for a bit of variation.
With the proper pickups, this guitar is easily a 10.
Great instrument for the money, again.... minus the pickups.
