A sculpted mahogany body with a fast-playing Wizard III neck and versatile humbucking pickups.

The S421 Electric Guitar represents the cutting edge of Ibanez design and continues to be a marvel of form and function. Its signature body shape—sculpted, lightweight, and mahogany—is stronger and more musically responsive than guitars weighing twice as much. Though no longer called by its original name, the Saber, the S series is still a rock version of that quick, graceful and potentially lethal weapon. Its archtop body not only provides a warmer tone but contributes to picking hand support. The clearance offered low-profile design of the Gibraltar Standard Bridge optimizes strumming/picking style possibilities. The Wizard III Maple neck is fast, flat and thin for speed and player comfort. The INF1 neck pickup is versatile and responsive, with warm classic tone and added output. The INF2 bridge pickup has enhanced mid-range output, with an Alnico-5 magnet for individual string clarity and excellent dynamics.

Comments about Ibanez S421 Electric Guitar:

I have loved the looks of the S for a long time. Unfortunately, I just now got around to buying one. The most appealing aspect of the guitar is how thin, not only the Wizard III neck is, but the body as well. The guitar weighs next to nothing and is extremely comfortable. The S421 is my fifth guitar, but I think it's going to be hard to go back to any of the others because none of them can compare with the overall comfort and playability of the S. Also, for the price, it is surprising that the body is mahogany and not the cheaper basswood. As far as the finish goes, it is flawless. As for the tone, I am not a pickup aficionado and am very happy with the sound of the Infinity 1 and 2. The other guitarist in my band has been playing the Infinity 1 and 2 for many years, and I have always been impressed with his tone. Of course, the amp and some old-fashioned knob turning have a lot to do with the tone as well. If you have to have Dimarzios or EMGs, I would suggest spending more money and getting one of the higher-end S models. As for me, this guitar is a great axe at a great price, and I am already thinking about buying the blackberry sunburst version, too.

Comments about Ibanez S421 Electric Guitar:

Awesome guitar. I've played both it and the S420 at my local shop. I love them both. The neck is great on this guitar and the setup was very nice. I played both straight out of the box and put the S421 on layaway immediately. The only thing I plan to change is the 5 way switch at this point. I don't have much use for it, but you and get some great tones out of the INF pups that come in it. All in all, pick one up. You won't be disappointed!

Comments about Ibanez S421 Electric Guitar:

It's not a bad guitar, the pickups aren't that bad, as long as you no how to control your amp settings, they're fine. They have a good low end, so I can get a jazzy tone out of either pickup, and they're good for "shredding".
Personally, I'd switch em out, but it's not a need.

Stays in tune real well too, mine came with 9 gauge strings, and I bend a lot but after putting it in standard, it was really nice.
But, the strings that I got were dirty, like, muddy dirty. So they didn't slide well.

It's a decent guitar, lightweight, sounds great, plays well, not frets sticking out
