An Ibanez "S" guitar with outrageously good looks and playability.
The Ibanez S5EX1 Electric Guitar features an exotic zebrawood top and a mahogany body that delivers a warm tone. With sleek top arch the S5EX1 is an instrument that feels luxurious and is highly playable. The 3-piece bolt-on maple neck has the fast Ibanez Wizard II neck profile and is dressed with 24 jumbo frets for increased expressiveness. The ZR Zero Resistance double locking ball bearing bridge offers smoother and stable tremolo action. Dual "zebra" Ibanez INF humbuckers have a versatile tonal array. Case sold separately.
Infinity humbucking pickups
The INF 1 black and cream 'Zebra' humbucker installed in the neck position has a ceramic magnet and is versatile and responsive with warm classic tone and added output. Infinity Single1 single-coil pickup in the middle position has an alnico magnet and is designed to work with the humbuckers in the split position. The IN2 black and cream 'Zebra' humbucking bridge pickup features an enhanced midrange output. Its Alnico-5 magnet allows for individual string clarity and excellent dynamics.
Zero Point tremolo system
The unique Zero Point system stabilizes the bridge and insures tuning stability by consistently returning the tremolo to the center point (or zero point). In addition to the usual tremolo springs, the Zero Point System features two additional springs, which insures the bridge's return to the center point. The Zero Point system adjustment can be quickly set by hand–there's no need for a hex wrench. The ZR tremolo uses a ball-bearing based system for precision and friction-free smooth action.

i just got this guitar today and the action is well....sick. the trem system works great and for a mahagony body its very solid but light due to how thin it is. the strings are so close to the frets its effortless to hit notes clearly. and the color scheme is great to with the "zebra" pickups. i got the trans. grey. for the price it feels like i spents 3 grand on the dang thing. if you want....BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the color scheme that Ibanez came out with. This guitar got the custom looks and feel of an expensive one.I got transparent gray. This a very nice alternative to the prestige. And no felt washer in the tremelo.Just screw in or out.I am very happy and having fun.I wish it came with a SKB case though. But hey..can't get it all.
I was pleased witht the style and features but the neck was really thick compared to the rg and other s models.
For My Number Eight Ibanez, I Would Say Even Though the Pickups Aren't Dimarzio, they Are still the Best standard Ibanez Pickups Avalaible in my opinion. Like all of my Ibanezez though, the hardware is fading! this particular guitar has 1 knob that was beat like crazy when I pulled it out of the box. other than that it was flawless.
The ZR is great and the pickups are fair. The finish is really appealling to.
The hardware was faded and dented on mine when it came and it is a hassle to return and get another one that most likely will have the same problems unless I ship a case back with it and have the company return a new one in the case. This flaw doesn't look like a shipping error at all which dissapoints me sense this is the 3th out of 8th Ibanez to have this problem.
In my opinion it is ok priced but they should seriously consider some Dimarzios or Emg Hz'z in this guitar so I fully get what I payed for.
I've owned this puppy for about 6 moths. I could not be happier, the neck is super fast and the body is slim and comfortable even after a long 4-Hour show. I do, however, have a gripe: The tremolo bar has a design flaw by which I could not pull the bar out and I had to disassemble the trem sleeve and socket and BEAT IT OUT. After that, the trem bar and socket where useless, so I had to buy new ones from ibanezrules.com. So... overall, AMAZING, I just wish the new bar will not be as troublesome as the old one.
Iv'e bought countless things from musiciansfriend and enjoy coming back... even though i haven't recieved this guitar yet because they are probably out of stock I got to try one for myself and it is awesome! the action and zps works well. hopefully they'll send it in the ibanez case i bought for it.
