Fatter body = fatter tone!
The powerful SZ is a relatively recent offshoot of the Ibanez S family. Like the S, the SZ is mahogany and sized perfectly for performance. But the SZ is thicker for even more screaming, fat mahogany tone and its 25.1" neck has a different feel than the 25.5" scale of the S. Flamed maple top, gorgeous binding and inlays. And if the SZ is ever so slightly heavier in weight, its shaped contours make up for any difference with a physical comfort that's almost obscene.

Well, I got this guitar about a month ago just to add one more to my collection, and all I can say is that it rocks. I also have a Schecter C-1 Artist Limited Edition with USA Seymour Duncan JB/'59's in it, and for the styles of music I play this guitar sounds just as good if not better. The quilted maple looks sick, and the Transparent Purple looks so much better in person. The playability is awesome, I had to lower the action on mine a little, but I've had to do that with all of my factory-new guitars. I'm a sucker for set-necks and neck-thru's as well and seeing a set neck maple/mahogany guitar at this price, I couldn't pass it up. Ibanez has done it again with quality and playability.
Aiiight so here I go.I just received this guitar today and i was blown away.Out of the box it was in tune and the action was beautiful. The finish is so amazing to see in person. The pickups could be hotter but they are ok for now.The neck is also amazing,it is a little thick for my tastes but its not bad. This is only my second guitar but I would recomend it to anyone.Another great thing about this guitar is that it is quiet.I had it on full blast and between riffs it was total silence until I hit the strings.I gave it a 4.5 on features because of the neck and the pickups. They are NOT bad. They just arent my taste. So I'll probably switch out the pickups for DiMarzios.Overall this is a beautiful and amazing guitar and I think it would be worth it to get it no matter what you play.
