The Ibanez SZR720 Electric Guitar is sized perfectly for performance and built thick for screaming, fat mahogany tone. A gorgeous quilted maple neck adds a bit of tonal brightness that balances beautifully with the mahogany. Its set-in neck is strong and provides great sustain. And if the SZR is ever so slightly heavier in weight than some in it's class, its shaped contours make up for any difference with a physical comfort that's almost obscene. Graduated string post heights and thru-body stringing provide equalized string tension, precise articulation, and great playing feel. Fast neck and Gotoh precision tuning machines.
- Mahogany body

This is the first "serious" guitar I've bought, and I have no regrets. Beautiful and functional, I drug this baby out of the case and everyone in the house (all musicians) stopped what they were doing and stared. I especially love the sound that you get from the neck pickup.. very warm and smooth. Overall, excellent value due to the playability, tone, and flat-out style this guitar offers. I love my SZR more than my girlfriend.
This was my first "real" electric guitar and I am not at all dissapointed! The finnish is beautiful and when you pick it up, you know you are quality piece. As fo rthe sound, it sustains forever and you can get a wide range of tones from the p-ups. The neck position is perfect for that dirty blues-rock sound, the middle position is remonicent of a strat, and the brige position can scream. I love this guitar; it begs to be played!
I saw this at the guitar shop and when I plugged it in I was very pleasently surprised. It's lightweight despite being neck through(which is nice) although I prefer heaveier guitars, this one was a winner for me. The neck is fast and I love the inlay. The transparent grey burst actually has a greenish tint to it which looks awesome. The pickups are clear and the toggle with individual volume controls is great for me. This is simply a great, versatile guitar that anyone can enjoy. The only weird thing about it is the body where the neck joins is a little thick but doesn't really effect the playing. Amazing guitar.
Look, this guitar is beautiful! It not only weighs in like a Les Paul, it actually can sound like one right out of the box. VERY versatile with the stock pups and wiring. I have always heard negatives about Ibanez's stock pickups, but these really sing! Clear as a bell, ringing tones, or more than willing to get dirty. I also like the strat-type sound you get from using one coil of each pup (middle position). And did I mention sustain? Be prepared to take another look at your phrasing, because this guitar will hold notes until you are ready for bed! And the tuners are silky smooth. A PERFECT instrument for recording! Could be the best guitar I've ever owned!(And I've had some nice one's in the last 29 years!)
I've had this guitar for a week now and it's quite good. Impeccable craftmanship. Yes, it looks great in person. The quilted top, vine inlays, gold hardware, binding, tuners, and all the rest of the adornments are well done. But how does it sound? Well, I was a little unsatisfied at first but it's grown on me. There's a little "twang" to it, sort of like a Tele and a LP mixed together. But that could just be my guitar and I actually have grown fond of its sound. It has a lot of sustain and the neck is very playable. It has some weight to it, but it is quite comfortable. I am going to have it tweaked to clear up some fret buzz in the lower registers and have the electronics looked at. Pickups seem to be out of phase when using both at once. But overall a great guitar that easy on the ears and eyes.
I can't stop looking at this piece of art; you can't tell where the neck and body come together, WHO DOES THIS. This is my first Ibanez and I think I chose the right one. Frets are rounded off (not sliced), so neck action is good. Pickup sound is new to me, but kind of reminds me of my Tele but treble is more controlled. The SZR720 will become one of my favorites.
This guitar is absolutely amazing. I've only had it for a week and already I'm in love with it. The tone is outstanding, it is incredibly comfortable and FAST. The action is perfect for metal or fast rock. The fretboard is so comfortable and smooth that you barely even have to try to play fast on this thing. Definitely an amazing for the money, get one. NOW.
I've owned this guitar for a couple weeks now, and I am very impressed with it. I've owned several Ibanez guitars in the past and gotten' rid of them. However, I'm keeping this one. The build quality, sound and playability is fantastic. The fit and finish is flawless (at least on mine). I was very surprised at how well it came set-up out of the box. The open-coil pick-ups are MUCH better than I thought they'd be. Their punch and "cut-through" tone when playing clean, especially the neck pick-up, sounds GREAT!! However, if you play all out metal, you'll want to swap out the pick-ups. However, this not a knock on the stock pick-ups. They sound very good with some overdrive, they're just made for metal. Overall, Ibanez has made an outstanding product. Get it before the price goes up.
Update: I just picked mine up last weekend and have been playing it every night since. I absolutely love this guitar. The holes where the strings come through the body are a bit bigger than I had anticipated but that doesn't affect the overall product. The vine inlay is absolutely stunning and is more-so stunning in person than in a picture. The finish and design feel very comfortable. Playing this has taken some getting used to due to the fact I've always played with floating bridge and getting used to the Gibralter bridge takes some time but all in all most certainly worth the buy.
