Wonderfull instrument for the younger guitar enthusiast!
This guitar definately fits a niche market. IT IS indeed Spruce top and Mahogany neck, back and sides. It is scupted X-Braced and does not feedback easily when used electrically with the Piezo undersaddle pickup.
I've had a chance to look at one very closely as it came into the shop with a broken neck/headstock caused by a careless stage placement and a fall resulting. It's neck is as thin as we dare carve one, that's for sure, but it makes for easy small hand playing.
This guitar has a good natural tone acoustically and a fair electric tone. Electronics are very reliable.
I'd have to say that this instrument is targeted perfectly for younger players wanting the option to play through amplifcation. It is a 3/4 sized guitar all the way around.
Dad, if you're looking to introduce junior to the world of acoustic/electric on a budget and need to be sure it's reliable for years of hard 'kid' use, then this is it. You cannot go wrong for this kind of money! A quality made, solid little instrument.

NOTE: I had to laugh out loud at the guy who bought one, wasn't happy with the tuner of all things, took it back, and walks out with a high end Martin instead! What are you thinking! Classic!
Well put together from quality materials.
Overall if you buy this for the right reason it is a very good value!

Just average-for about $75 more I also got a Yamaha that sounds much better plugged & unplugged. Finish (Black), Fit, and Action were good. Unplugged the guitar lacks a good resonant sound most likely due to the thinline construction. You can compensate for that plugged in provided you have a multi-band equalizer in your equipment. Onboard tuner is OK. I would recommend this as a back-up guitar to take to places you would not want to bring a good quality guitar to like extreme temprature events, high humidity, etc. But, I can not reccommend this as a main guitar.

Comments about Ibanez Talman TCY10 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I got this for my 11 year old daughter as an upgrade from her Fender acoustic. She has been playing guitar for about 2 years and piano for 6 years. I am not a musician. Her teacher says it is a good upgrade and will last her for years. It did not require a lot of adjustments to play - no adjustments to the action though others have said they lowered it. The neck is thin and just right for her small hands. The guitar is as light as the Fender acoustic. The body is thinner than the Fender, but still has adequate acoustic sound without an amp. With the Roland Microcube, she can rock the house with some decent rock sound.

I like the overall size and weight. The electronics work fine and the guitar stays in tune. It has the best neck of any acoustic I have owned.
I bought this guitar for myself about two years ago. It has been reliable and a go to guitar amoung all my others. My son always chose it when we played together. I finally bought him his own and he says it is just beautiful. I have the blue burst. I like this guitar so well, I may buy another in black.

Comments about Ibanez Talman TCY10 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Decently equipped for the price, this guitar will get you through any acoustic jam session or electrified gig without much problem. The thinner neck is very comfortable in the hand and makes it play almost as easily as most electric guitars. The thinner body is lightweight, comfortable, and very cool looking, but lacks the ability to project the sound as well as a full sized dreadnought or jumbo will. That being said, when jamming acoustically next to larger bodied acoustic guitars, this guitar's voice seems to get get lost in the mix at times. The softer sound isn't always a bad thing, however, the tone is good, and the quieter voice makes it easier when singing along without a mic. Plugged in, this guitar sounds just as good as most other higher priced guitars that I've played alongside with. The eq is easy to use, as is the built-in tuner, but it can be a bit of an annoyance that the tuner only works when the guitar is plugged in. To combat that problem, when I play unplugged, I just leave a cut-off cable end in the input jack and voila, the tuner works. As far as quality goes, I think Ibanez did a good job of keeping the quality up considering the price. No, it does not feel as or look as nice as a Gibson or a Martin, but this guitar does not cost even a quarter of what you would pay for those. My guitar did break however, but only because it was left unattended with a teenager that managed to break the headstock off of the neck (and blamed it on the dog). The neck has since been repaired and plays as well as it did when new, which is to say pretty well considering what I paid. I have been putting this guitar through some intense jamming almost daily for over a year, and have yet to have any real problems. The tuning machines could be better, but they do an adequate job. An upgrade to Grover tuners would be a good addition. All in all, this guitar is great for those starting out, or even intermediate to advanced players on a budget who are willing to sacrifice a few frills for a solid playing axe. Thumbs up, Ibanez!
Comments about Ibanez Talman TCY10 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Don't waste your money on this guitar. Spend a little more and get a different guitar. You'll be glad you did.
The Ibnanez Talman TCY10 has sound that is not bad for a plastic guitar. It has a good, balanced feel, is comfortable and it looks great. I bought it to play at the beach so I would not trash my Martin OXE with sand and wear. What started out as a good idea turned out bad.
Terrible quality. Got the first one home and auto tuner would not work. Took it back, the replacement lasted two days before it too broke. Took it back to store and will never touch another Ibanez - ever. Good news is while I was at the music store I bought a Martin D-16 so now the old Martin can go to the beach.
It's of no value if it is always broken. Also, to use the auto tuner you have to plug the chord into the guitar? Why? Whose bright idea was this?
Comments about Ibanez Talman TCY10 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I thought for sure that there was no way that this guitar would have as good of a sound as it does. Well I was wrong I love this guitar It is perfect for what I use it for.
I think that for the price that you pay for this guitar it is by far a really good quality deal!
Comments about Ibanez Talman TCY10 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
well i tried this guitar out today and i gotta admit, it felt great, the neck was nice, the body felt great, i even loved the way it looked... then i played it, it lacked the full sound and power that i am looking for, it sounded empty and frail, i guess it could have been worse, but it was sure a let down nonetheless
Comments about Ibanez Talman TCY10 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Very good guitar1 It has a great sound and look. 2 things that are bad about it(for me) is that it doesn't have a pickguard and it gets dusty a lot eventhough i play it a lot. Overall it is a great product for a great proce. i suggest ibanez makes a red sunburst. I suggest getting black.
