You Get What You Pay For....

Comments about Ibanez TCY20E Talman Double Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've owned 2 of these guitars. This is the instrument that sits in the stand and I can grab it whenever I want. The 1st was great. Reasonably good tone (especially thru an amp). Nice action (changed to lite strings). Just a fun guitar when I was too lazy to grab another. I gave this one to my son (who enjoys it immensely) and bought another to replace it. Not even close! Tinny sounding. Action no where near as good. But the worst flaw is the combination lower strap pin/input jack. The space between the body of the guitar and the pin is so narrow you can't get a normal quality strap to stay on; I ended up buying a very cheap nylon strap just to get it to fit on the pin w/o coming off! I've noticed a couple of other guitars w/this setup. Hope they work better.

Comments about Ibanez TCY20E Talman Double Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Very disappointed with this guitar. Ovearall poorly constructed out of cheap materials. The wood itself was so dry on the fretboard it was going white in places. Laquer was blistered on the neck. If I were the maker I'd be embarassed! Thankful Musicians Friend made the return easy.

        Way cool

Comments about Ibanez TCY20E Talman Double Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was looking for an accoustic in the size of a semi-hollow and found this guitar. I immediately fell in love with its size and sound. The body form took some time to get used to. But the way it feels, sounds, handles and all is simply amazing. For the size, this guitar is surprisingly loud.
It's got a great sound whether you plug it in or just sit around the house and play some music.
The only thing that I wished it had was a built in tuner. Many guitars have that now. The EQ also could use a mid in addition to bass and treble. But I am fine with using an external tuner (or my ears).

        It is what it is...excellently!

Comments about Ibanez TCY20E Talman Double Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

These shallow-body acoustic-electrics are not meant to replace the unplugged sound of dreadnoughts. Impossible because of their different designs. On the other hand, the action and ease of handling of the shallow-bodies blows dreads away, and Ibanez OWNS this category of guitar in their Talman series.Use medium strings at minimum, eventually replace the pegs with Tusq, and you'll get "acceptable" volume and tone making it perform like a real acoustic. But this design's real strength is plugging it in, for an acoustic tone and electric ease of play (more or less). Not solid wood, but for [$], this axe is a joy to own and abuse. Blows away Fender's Telecoustic, although the newer Telecoustic incorporates an actual Telecaster neck. (A HEAVY neck, which is a negative to some.)Go play this thing wherever you get a chance. It's one of those that you'll really love, even though it costs so little.
