The guitar that ignited the 7-string revolution in rock!

As astounding now as it was when it came out, Steve Vai's Universe cuts no corners on tone or looks. Abalone disappearing-pyramid fret marker inlays; a mirror pickguard; Vai's "Light without Heat" pyramid logo below the bridge; plus full body, neck, and head binding provide staggeringly fabulous looks. A double-locking Ibanez Lo-Pro Edge 7 recessed trem lets you dip and soar with flawless intonation. DiMarzio Blaze humbuckers at the neck and bridge provide chunky rhythm and dense lead tones while a Blaze single coil in the middle provides brighter, edgier highlights. Basswood body and quartersawn maple neck. 24 fat frets times seven strings on the rosewood board adds up to a Universe of freedom for your fingers.

Owned this for 10 years or more.

Comments about Ibanez UV777 Electric Guitar:

I have owned this model since the first year they made this particular model. There is nothing else that compares. If you can play guitar, this guitar is for you. If you feel the knobs are too close (some other guy that posted here), learn to play... I have had zero issues with htis masterpiece of craftsmanship. EXTREMELY highly recommended. Wouldn't trade mine for anything..
    Excellent all around
There's nothing out there like this, if you know how to play the thing...
You get what you pay for.

    Ibanez UV777

    By whk

Comments about Ibanez UV777 Electric Guitar:

It didn't arrive in great shape. Three incompetent "professional" setups (including the factory setup) left me pulling my hair out. I figured it out on my own, tossed the scotchtape shims that one of the "professionals" used (I actually paid them money, that blows my mind), made the necessary adjustments, and now, it's simply the finest guitar I've ever owned.Fast, and remarkably thin neck for a 7-string. The Edge Pro holds its tune for weeks at a time. The Blaze pickups are surprisingly warm and crisp - this is the first guitar I've ever had that still has its stock pups loaded). There are some small problems (to me, your mileage may vary) notably the colour (black so glossy that if you think "fingerprint" while looking at it, it'll smudge), the mirror pickguard (I've seen apt references to Disco Balls) and the location of the volume knob (my fingers are too short to use it to good effect, however, it's far too close to the bridge pickup and is constantly being knocked down). Those aren't major complaints, I've adapted (except the pickguard, I replaced the original mirror and tucked it away just in case).Having said all that, I do think it's seriously overpriced, and if I needed a backup, I'd seriously consider the RG1527 ahead of purchasing another Universe.

    Worth the Pain

    By GreenMetal

Comments about Ibanez UV777 Electric Guitar:

It can be annoying to tune sometimes with this bridge and the tension of the seven strings adjusting it as you go, but once you get that done with the trem locks, your set for a long time of good playing on one of the best guitars out there. The feel of it is nice.If you have the money to spend, I would definitely recommend this.

    Amazing Guitar!!!!!

    By zildjian player

Comments about Ibanez UV777 Electric Guitar:

This is an amazing guitar. Best 7-string I have ever played. For sure worth the money. The only thing I find wrong with it is the knob design. They are too close to the strings and when you play on the 5th and 6th string your hand hit the volume knob and the switch.

    What a JEM!

    By wyldeman93

Comments about Ibanez UV777 Electric Guitar:

Alright first off it plays great. The pickups are good for every style of music. The locking trem is similar to most ibanez edge trems, which are basically the same as floyd rose trems. This is the only 7 string I can think of that has a single coil middle pickup. If you want an ibanez 7 string with a locking trem and you can't afford this go for the K7.

    7th heaven

    By Donnie Carter

Comments about Ibanez UV777 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome. Its the first 7 string I've ever played and I'm very happy. It has great tone and sounds good for pretty much anything you want to use it for. The only thing I didn't like was the whammy bar system, I'm an original floyd rose guy (just personal preference).

    Best 7-string on the market

    By Deadman78

    from Ohio

Comments about Ibanez UV777 Electric Guitar:

I've owned this guitar for about seven years now, so I've had alot of time to consider it's finer points. The bottom line on this guitar is that it's a very well made piece of equipment. But like everything in life, that quality comes at a price. The only real negative thing that I can say about this guitar is that the floating bridge never did stay in tune for me. I tried adjusting the spring tension but it was always moving and throwing everything out. I eventually wedged a piece of metal under the bridge so that it wouldn't move anymore. I never use the tremolo anyway, so it's no big deal to me, but it might be to you. Just something to think about.

    UV777 Is Everything it promises

    By Strife E Poo

Comments about Ibanez UV777 Electric Guitar:

I have played this guitar several times to make sure I had a solid opinion about it. I came to the conclusion that this guitar is THE best seven string guitar on the market. Nice tone, light weight and perfect construction. I would strongly urge you to look at this is a seven string is what you want.
