Decent at first but with a bad aftertaste...

Comments about Ibanez XPT707FX Electric Guitar:

I have had the XPT707FX for several months now and I can certainly say that I am not happy with the guitar. I would say that my biggest issue has definitely been with the quality, cheap materials and poor craftsmanship have troubled me time and time again. For starters when I first ordered the guitar it was missing a large chunk of wood from the upper "horn" and I had to go through quite a rigorous process to get a different one. After the first ordeal the next one had severe fret leveling issues which were payed for out of my pocket. Probably the worst thing about this guitar is the bridge. IT SUCKS. Within the very first week all of the intonation screws had fallen out and though my efforts were consistent to fix this problem none of them succeeded. Also several of the screws used for raising and lowering the bridge have broken to pieces and now I am at a loss once again. Ibanez is a great company but I strongly advise you to stay away from this guitar and many of their non Prestige guitars.

    Xiphos destroys

Comments about Ibanez XPT707FX Electric Guitar:

When i first saw this thing, I saved up asap and got this thing and it was amazing right off the bat. the only thing i needed was a lower action (factory setup was a little high on mine). the paint job, like everyone says, is awesome. my only complaint is that it is bulky, but for how awesome it looks, its worth it.

Best 7 string ever. I would know.

Comments about Ibanez XPT707FX Electric Guitar:

If you're looking for 7 strings, do yourself a favor, get this thing, you will not regret a cent spent on it. Bridge is pretty high off the body so if you're a "scratcher", dont worry, you won't reach the body's gorgeous paint in a million years. Most of all, the bridge is very comfortable to hold. The body shape (once you get used to it) is incredibly versatile, you can put it on your leg conventionally, and it'll feel more or less like an RG mixed with an Explorer, or you can put it on your leg RR style-all good whichever way you hold it. Pickups are brand-name obviously, and you don't need to switch them out, they're not a one-off marketing lemon. Rosewood with Sharkteeth inlays are gorgeous, frets are incredibly shiny. The neck isn't cramped, so if you like your wide vibrato or have chunky fingers, it won't be a prob. Oh, and the Gibraltar bridge lets you adjust the intonation fairly easily, so you won't have to worry bout perfect pitch. Not to mention mahogany wings, maple neck-thru, and the iridescent paint job. Also the neck is a hundred times more comfortable than any of my other guitars, all of them top-of the line. I've done research on 7 strings for a good couple of months, and let me tell you, save yourself some time, this is the one. No, really, as long as you give yourself time to get used to the body, this guitar will change your perception of what guitars should be. This guitar should be worth 2000 bucks. Until they get a ZR bridge on a 24fret 7 string, this is hands down, the best 7 string.

    Decent guitar

Comments about Ibanez XPT707FX Electric Guitar:

I'd received mine a few months ago. Its a very nice guitar, but being that its MII (made in Indonesia) it's not the best quality. Mine came with some serious fret level problems (which I had worked on) the pickups are great if you mainly play higher stuff, but this is a 7 string so you'll probabally be playing lower alot too, the pickups make anything lower than the E string very very muddy. I grabbed some blackouts and now it sounds great! the volume pot is a bit stiff, but its manageable. The strings are a bit far off the fretboard higher up. Bottom line, If you're looking for a 7 string within a budget, get this guitar, but be ready to have it worked on. I almost forgot. Neck dive is not a problem if you get a nice heavy leather strap.

    Jackpot!

Comments about Ibanez XPT707FX Electric Guitar:

I sold my previous seven string guitar for this one, and I couldn't be happier. It's perfect in every way, from it's unique paint job to the full body tone you receive when you engage the D Activator 7 pickups. It's perfect for metal, perfect for anything really. I feel as if I just spent my cash on a metal axe that was worth twice as much, and that's the best feeling in the world.

    This guitar is metal!

    By Jared-Vmh6e

Comments about Ibanez XPT707FX Electric Guitar:

Fantastic! Pictures do not do enough for the finish on this guitar. The D-activators are brutal. The look and feel of this guitar is great, it's a real head turner live. There is a decent tonal range with the tone knob (I prefer mine with the low end emphasized). I play through a Randall RH300G3 (or what ever the hybrid 300w monster is) and get the most wicked sound I can ask for. So dirty, so nasty. I had some setting up to do out of the box... action and what not, but thats normal. My only complaint is that it didnt come with a case. And musicians friend doesn't carry it as far as I know. You will also need to buy a stand that supports from the neck, as it won't fit in a normal one. Also, it would have been nice if they offered this in the same color options that the 6string comes in.

    Monster Tone

    By Monitone292

Comments about Ibanez XPT707FX Electric Guitar:

As soon as i saw a seven string xiphos hanging in the music store, i had to try it. Now to be honest this guitar blows every other seven string in its price range out the water. I have a Schecter C7 Hellraiser and i perfer this one. The D Activator 7 pickups are a dream; very thick and heavy sounding. The only problem i had is when i got home, i was having pickup problems but guitar techs in the store fixed them with no problems. Besides that, it was perfect.

The best for the $, period.

Comments about Ibanez XPT707FX Electric Guitar:

For as long as i can remember i've wanted an Ibanez Universe for its craftsmanship and sound quality. Then Ibanez had to go ahead and make this thing... It blows everything in its price range out the water with the D Activator 7 pups. The reverse headstock gives it an edgy look and paintjob is beautiful. The only thing that i wished was the balance of the guitar was taken into further consideration by Ibanez. While standing, the head drops. Nothing an extra screw cant fix though.
