Comments about Italia Lusso II Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

With its vintage vibe, the Italia Lusso is something different. The spalted maple top on mine is spectacular. With proper setup, the action and intonation is superb. It's heavy. The pickups have medium output and work nicely for jazz, blues, and swing voicings. Not as much twang as a Telecaster, but that is expected with humbuckers. Obviously, you will be disappointed if you expect it to sound like a Gibson ES335 with screaming Classic 57 pickups and output. It gets that sound easily with a multi-effects pedal with the right settings. But, the Lusso has its own sound. It's great with a good tube amp (I use a Vox and tried it on a friend's Fender Twin Reverb). The pickups are clean enough to get excellent sound with amp modeling and/or a multi-effects pedal. I can get close to some Rickenbacker sounds with the multi-effects pedal and boosting the treble on the axe and amp. In all, it's well-built and somewhat unique. It's one of those "under-the-radar" guitars that make other players in the audience come to the stage during breaks and ask, "what the heck is that?" I've had the axe for about five months. It's in the rotation with other guitars. No complaints yet. Pots seem solid and clean.

    Beautiful Instrument

Comments about Italia Lusso II Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Took a while to get my Special Order, but it was worth the weight. The guitar's spalted top and the richness of the finish is worth to price, but it's very well made. Nice low action, not rough edges on the frets or body binding and finish. The neck is flat and wide, great for fingerpicking. Plugged in the pickups have a nice tone, neck position is brighter/ twangier, and the the bridge position is warm and rich, as the should be. Their town is balanced, which is good since there are no tone controls, just volume for both pickups and a switch, but it's all you need. The headstock Italia Emblem is actual not on the wood, it's a chrome emblem, like on a car, giving it a Vintage look like a Kay guitar. It's got some weight to it, feeling more like a solid body than a semi-hollow. Good sustain, and I didn't crank it, (played ti through a peavey Delta Blues 1X15 version at recording volume) but feedback and hum seemed to be a non-issue. Tuners were well made and held tuning. It's a really nice instrument. The transparent pick guard looks better than it photographs. If it had separate tone controls I would feel like I got a Incredible deal on the guitar, but as it stands it's a very good Semi-Hollow for the Intermediate play.
