Comments about Italia Maranello Classic Electric Guitar:
Not gonna lie, I picked this up for the finish and body style alone. I've seen a band I enjoyed playing an older model of one of these in blue sparkle and had my eye on one ever since. Upon getting it, here were my observations:
1. The sparkle finish is much prettier than in the photo
2. The pickguard is a darker creme color than in the photo. I'm not much of a fan of it.
3. Not digging the Wilkinson pickups. They sound muddy through my dark terror head.
I'm not giving up on this guitar, I've ordered a replacement black pickguard (like the one that comes on the silver sparkle) because I think it will look better, and I'm going to swap out the pickups for Gibson 57 Classic and 57 Classic Plus pickups, and see if that sweetens this guitar up.
Comments about Italia Maranello Classic Electric Guitar:
Bought new 2007. Cost 319 British Pounds. Blue sparkle top with pearloidback/sides/neck/headstock. 22 medium frets. 3 way toggle and a pair on Wilkinson WVC pups (vintage voiced)Single cutaway. Tune O Matic bridge. Italia diecast tuners. lovely smooth C shaped neck with rosewood fingerboard 12" radius. Floating pickguard. I play blues mostly also have mad half hour playing country rock and R&R. Use a Fender Roc-Pro1000 amp v/occasionally with a comp pedal. Has a rich full sound. Can be used for all kinds of tunes. I use just a touch of gain and it's Santana. Played clean with the tone rolled back it's Peter Green. It's a complete arsenal of sounds. I play other guitars, but this is my favourite instrument. Well done Trevor Wilkinson for the product and Chris Rea for bringing it to my attention. Arrived really well set-up from the factory. Everything spot on. Can't add anymore.Don't gig with a band just a couple of mates and not encountered any probs whatever. Excellent finish still not a mark on it. If I gigged I would just take this one.E-mailed customer service to check string gauge 10's. as I string the other guitars with 9's. Never had a problem with the Maranello Classic. 12 months warranty.Been playing for about 8years after a 30year layoff. I also play a tele and strat. If pinched would definitely buy anothr 2. I love the style and the way it plays, I only wish I could do it justice. All the people who have seen and heard and played it have all remarked what a fabulous looking guitar, and a friend who owns a guitar shop and has the pick of loads of them said it was a great instrument. Do yourself a favour go and try 1. You'll buy it.
Comments about Italia Maranello Classic Electric Guitar:
I've owned a Maranello Classic for a few years and I love it. It is extremly comfortable to play. The neck is fantastic. The body fits perfectly. Its a little bit smaller than a Les Paul and a lot lighter. Its tone is pretty good. It may not have all the overtones you'll get from a good quality Paul (because of the bass-boat sparkle covering on the front and the mother-of-toilet-seat on the back), but it dosen't matter. This guitar is all about fun. And fun it is. It's a joy to play. It catches everyones eye. It makes everyone smile just to see it.
Comments about Italia Maranello Classic Electric Guitar:
Don't let the looks fool you - this guitar has got some serious bite and plays great! The neck and fret work is top notch and the placement of the toggle, volume and tone switches are very convenient...real easy to make changes on the fly. The Wilkinson Humbuckers have a great tone, a very playable guitar. The weight is good, not to heavy. I thought the plastic mother of pearl covering on the back seemed crazy at first, but you don't notice it while playing and it looks really good...it gets tons of stares and comments...good ones! You have to see it up close to appreciate it, go out and try one...great guitar for the money.
Comments about Italia Maranello Classic Electric Guitar:
I own both the Maranello and the Modulo. Killer looks and sound to match. Only problem I had was the pickup selector which needed a good cleaning from hanging in the showroom I'm sure. I own many hi end guitars Gibson, Fender and PRS and this one ranks right up there. Sounds great and cool old school looks. Excellent value for the $.
