Comments about Italia Modena Classic Electric Guitar:

How refreshing to receive a flawless guitar perfectly set up out of the box. Found no defects. Lately, dealing with Gibson, Fender, Epiphone, etc., has been a risky gamble. Quality control is poor with these companies. Not so with Italia. Plays and sounds wonderful. Excels at Vintage, but also nice with high gain. Did not try metal. Even the treble bridge position is usable, unlike most Fenders. Thank you, Italia, for making this beautiful guitar. I will buy another Italia.

One of the Best Guitars I Have Ever Owned

        By John Z-tSAWf

        from California

Comments about Italia Modena Classic Electric Guitar:

Originally I bought this for its retro looks, with the idea of using it occasionally as an attention getter. Normally I play a Fender Jazzmaster, and occasionally a Gibson Firebird and Flying V. But after playing the Modena for a few hours, I fell in love with it, and it is now my favorite guitar, and one of the best I have ever owned.

The sparkle and perloid finish gives this guitar a decided retro look - some have told me they once owned an accordian that looked like this (mine is the red model). One advantage of this flashy finish is scratches, dings and dents that often occur from playing live won't be as noticeable.

The only two negatives I can say about the Modena is that the locking tuners are not intuitive to use, and that it is a heavy guitar - comparable to a Fender Jazzmaster.

Overall, I highly recommend the Modena if you want a guitar that plays and sounds very good, and also want something that looks a bit different from the herd of look-alike guitars.
The Modena has everything needed for hours of comfortable playing, be it in the den or a live performance. The combination of 3 mini-humbuckers, a 5 position toggle switch, master volume, tone, and bridge pickup volume controls provide a rich environment for tailoring the sound the way you want it. The tremolo is outstanding - I use a tremolo a lot and this one does not cause the strings to go out of tune. The 22 fret neck is very fast and comfortable. The locking tuners are also a nice feature. The design of the bridge makes intonation and action adjustments precise.
I bought this guitar new from Musicians Friend. It came in almost perfect condition. Absolutely no flaws anywhere, with the exception of a very tiny pit on the fretboard, which is why my rating is less than a "10".
This may be one of the best buys out there in a guitar. I have owned guitars that cost twice as much (Gibsons, Fenders) and in many respects this is superior to any of them.
