Comments about Italia Mondial II Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I decided to wait a few months before reviewing this guitar. And let me say - this is by far my favorite electric of all time. I will never admit this to my wife (since I begged her to buy me a Gretsch Tennesse Rose a few years ago). The guitar I bought from MF was a Level 3, so I really took a chance on it. There was some headstock damage and a fret board repair had been done, previously. However, I took it my repair guy, and he saw not a thing wrong with it. Just needed a seasonal set up. I have long fingers, but the neck suits my playing style perfectly. Since the Woody is a semi-hollow body, there's a wonderfully warm resonance when playing it. The pickups are responsive and transparent without sounding brittle. This thing sounds snappy through my modified tube amp. It beats the Gretsch - and the Tele, Strat, and SG models I also own. I am not kidding. And I've always wanted a Ricky. But the Mondial II (Woody) has that kind of sound - sort of a cross between a Gibson 137 and a Rickenbacker 620. Though the acoustic pickup on mine is slightly weak, I never use it anyway. Really don't need it - kinda like an appendix. Doesn't take away from the overall joy of playing this electric beauty. No, it's not a "trendy" guitar - and that suits me just fine.

Comments about Italia Mondial II Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

The Italia Mondial II has more advantages than you can name in a single sentence. The acoustic tone from the piezo bridge pickup is SUPERB with low noise and better sound than any other piezo pickup I've ever used. The humbuckers sound great the neck feels wonderful, and the carved maple top is beautiful. This is a GREAT guitar to have on hand for virtually any gig and is a great guitar to use in the recording studio as well. I'd like to be able to mix the acoustic pickup and humbuckers through a single output jack on the guitar, but the twin output jacks do a great job as it is.

    Italia Woody II....Outstanding!!!

    By The Rickster

Comments about Italia Mondial II Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I can find no faults with my Woody II. It is everything I would want in a fine instrument. The sound, fit/finish, playability, etc. are first rate.
I own the Woody II and the Rimini 12 string. The Woody is an outstanding guitar. It is solidly built with flawless finish and electronics. With two input jacks, one for the acoustic piezo, and the other for the humbuckers, it provides the absolute most versatility that you can get in a guitar. I just can't say enough about how this guitar sounds and the number of tones that you can get out of it. There is no need to even think about changing these pickups. It plays easily, well setup from the factory, and stays in tune. I have owned a number of high end strats and Lp's, but this guitar is by far, my favorite. I can play any style of music with this from folk to hard rock and everything in between. If I were to have just one guitar, this would be it. Italia's rock!
Flawless fit and finish. Outstanding pickups and electronics. The piezo and humbucker options provide the player with a myriad of tones and options for tweaking the sound.
When you look at this guitar and then play it, it looks and plays like a guitar that would sell for a thousand or more.

Comments about Italia Mondial II Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

The quality on this guitar is undeniable! This guitar gives off a high quality sound for a great price. It looks fantastic and plays fantastic. I really have a thing for f-holed guitars it adds a nice touch to this model. It has an acoustic pickup with it as well which adds more variety and makes all the more fun to play. All of the pickups sound great. This guitar is definitely in my top 3 for my favorites. If it ever broke or gets stolen somehow....I'd definitely replace it.

    Unique and Versatile

Comments about Italia Mondial II Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

The Italia Mondial II Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar is a unique and versatile instrument worthy of consideration by any serious guitarist for both live and studio work. The axe sports numerous features that aren't merely cosmetic in nature, but serious tools for creating precision sound. The versatility of the instrument is based on it's combination of Wilkinson-designed humbuckers and a piezo pickup connected to the wooden bridge. The humbuckers are vintage-voiced, which means they work well for classic rock, blues and jazz. They sound hot with a tube amp (Vox) and also are clean enough to work well with my Digitech RP500 Multi-effects processor. I don't believe the sound or look of the instrument would be appealing for extreme metal shredding. The action out of the box was acceptable, but I brought it to a reputable guitar shop to have it checked and set up. The technician said he did make some minor adjustments, but overall he seemed excited to have worked with the instrument and was, as he put it, completely blown away with how well made it is. What's also impressive with the axe is its two output jacks--one for the humbuckers and one for the acoustic piezo. I play with a stereo rig (two Fender Acoustasonic SFX amps)and have experimented extensively with the Mondrial II. The clarity of both pickup combinations playing together is impressive. It's great for recording, too. You can record both humbucker and piezo pickups at once. The tone knobs are really clear and accurate for both pickup sets. You can really dial in distinct tones. The tuners are excellent. It is foolish and ridiculous to think that only American-made instruments are good quality. The Mondrial II is made in Korea, and the craftsmanship is superb. I would rate the craftsmanship as good as any other guitar I've owned (Gibson Les Paul, Fender Strat, Burns Steer, Ibanez) if not better. The top is solid maple and the body and set-in neck are crafted out of mahogany. The tobacco sunburst finish is beautifully rendered. I do feel the Italia logo is a bit cheezy looking. I also wish it came with a case. My research tells me that most Italia guitars are made out of agathis. I guess that is acceptable, but with such unique designs and features, I wish the company would consider what I feel are better tone woods for its other guitars. I'd buy another from them and would be willing to spend a bit more for such excellent designs and features. The bottom line is that this guitar is well-made and has many tonal possibilities. What's more, it's reasonable in price. If you won't buy it because it isn't American made, shame on your ethnocentric soul. Go ahead and spend a lot more on an overpriced American guitar. I, for one, and satisfied with Wilkinson Italia design.
