Great Guitar

By fixatedtruth

from California

this guitar is great for all genres and i have owned it for two years now. The only problem i had with it was the cheap rip off floyd rose. if you are like me and you play for hours a day and are agressive and use the floyd rose all of the time, the floyd rose will no longer stay in tune, because of this i had to buy a actual copyrighted floyd rose and install it, in addition i replaced the mounts that hold the pickups because the plastic ones were way to high and got in the way, however, its a great guitar and i will be using it for the rest of my life. great tone especially for the price, well made besides the floyd rose, and stays in tune and it has a amazing fretboard, and it the guitar itself isnt even heavy.

Still going strong after 4 years!

By Jason-gXFpb

from Glendale, Ky.

Thought I would do an update after having this guitar now for a few years - still rocking on! Bottom line, this guitar is a beast and can play just about any style. Sure, it's setup screams "Metal and Hard Rock"... but you can accomplish so much more. Neck is great and smooth and fast - where it really shines is the pickups. Simply put, I just can't find anything better than the EMG 81/85 pups that are in it. They are clean and hot - will push your amp hard but will clean up nicely. Floyd Rose isn't original, but who cares? It floats nice and stays in tune. In four years of HARD playing (I play everything from Metal to Jazz on this thing and it can take a beating) I've only had to replace 1 saddle.. not a big deal at all. Things will wear and that's a given. Fret's and fretboard have held up well... just a great guitar and I love it!

Amazing

By Mainer

from Portland, ME

I truly love it. It has an incredible sound clean, and really sounded even more amazing when I cranked up the gain. I have the action set low, and am really able to shred on it. One thing: there is a significant sized spot where the laquer on the neck behind the seventh fret is missing, and it sort of gives it a cool worn look, but still, it was supposed to be new. That made me mad. I never pursued getting a new neck, though I should have. And also, I have the flat black finish, and I think it looks the best, but it shows wear much faster than the gloss finish, and wiping off fingerprints takes more time and effort. I give it a 9.5 out of 10, it rocks.

A dinky that's not so dinky!

By MightySumo

from Northwest Indiana

See all my reviews

I've had the DKMG Dinky for about 2 months now, and it's GREAT! The guitar itself is super light and the quilted maple top has to be seen in person, these pictures do not do it justice. I run my Dinky through a Marshall DSL 100 fullstack and the EMGs SCREAM! The licensed floyd rose will not, I repeat, will not come out of tune. I smacked the head/neck area on my car door. Nothing broke, and still perfectly in tune!If you have any apprehension about getting this guitar, JUST DO IT. It's worth it.

not as good as you might think

By RealTalk

from portland OR

At first I was pleased with everything this guitar had to offer, but I was a noob. I might recommend this to a beginner but not for an experienced player. I hadn't realized(being a noob) how low the action was when i recieved it. the floyd rose system keeps it in tune but any use of the whammy will very slightly untune it and the metal will rust easily. the frets are a bit too big for my taste. these emg-hz's are unique to this guitar and, in my opinion, produce cheap quality sound and are too trebley. It produces more of a trebley fuzz rather than good gain. I play through a 100 watt line 6 bogner valve hybrid amp and it takes alot of tweaking on my part to get this guitar to not sound cheap. You may be sold at first, but you will soon be disappointed afterwards. Id say it would be better to spend a few bucks more to buy a USA jackson or a ESP than this guitar.

Amazing Axe!!

By Josh-5PRy4

from chicago

I sold three pieces of equipment to afford a used one. It arrived today, and this is the best instrument I have ever held and played that did not cost over $1000. The craftsmanship and feel of this guitar are phenomenal. I will definitely be a fan of jackson's products for years to come after this playing this guitar. Do yourself a favor and pick one up!

It's damn sexy. Period.

Got it in trans-red, which looks sweet, and has that flamed maple top. Not too heavy, but it doesn't feel cheap either. EMG's are perfect. neck is great for your clean or blues and bridge has a lot of bite. Harmonics are highly randy, licensed floyd works fine, but like me, you'll probably have to ajust the springs.... oh well, simple job, totally worth it. And i got 15% off because this website always has some kind of promo going, so that's sweet. jasckon/skb case is perfect, and lastly, playability rivals those old ass strats from the 70's or most ibanez guitars. only wish it was neck through, but hey, thats why they have the soloist models.... this is a very sexy guitar and quality has been great thus far.

I have owned this guitar for a month now and i am really happy with it. Handled the stage like a pro. The alder body is light and has great tone. The licened floyd rose stays in tune very well. Im not much into the way the 81 sounds in the bridge. I love my 85 bridge and swaped neck with a 60. Wow harmonics like mad! The neck is very comfortable. Nice and flat. The inlays are sweet. I got the trans black and its beatuiful! Only wish it was a neck thru.

Awesome Guitar

By Lucusarts

I love this guitar. The EMG 81 is very hot and the 85 gets the most beautiful clean sound. Very versatile due to the EMG's. One hot, one clean. I never use the 85 with distortion, only clean. I do use the 81 dirty and clean. The neck is a little wide and took time to adjust to it. Once I got use to it I feel like the neck is perfect. The tremolo is the only one I've ever used that actually keeps tune, perfectly. That's if you know how to set it up. If you need help email me. This guitar is geared more for rock and metal. It's perfect for those styles. If you buy it you will not be disappointed, once you get it set up. I love it and would not consider getting rid of it. The neck is super sweet. I love everything about it.Keep Picking,

Jesus this thing rocks

I've been playing guitar for a while and I've just recently decided to step it up and get a guitar that fits my playing style. This is it. This guitar delivers insane sounds and the EMG's deliver much versatility, both distortion on and off. The floyd rose works incredibly well, I've only tuned it maybe 3 or 4 times, and that was after changed the strings. Otherwise you'll just have to adjust the fine tune knobs. If your into metal, this is the guitar for you.Jackson for life.

Love this Axe

Was worried about buying a guitar online without playing it since the local sam ash and guitar center only had the flying v's. But after reading some reviews that this guitar plays like an ibanez i was SOLD. Im very used to my RG760 which is old but this Dinky plays awesome. Sweet tone and harmonics, Flat fast neck, bee-you-tee-ful finish and the tremolo rocks and stays in tune very nicely. Such a metal guitar which is what i wanted. Free shipping? no tax? I will buy from you guys again for sure. GREAT experience. I also received it very quickly! Thank you.

Metal Master piece

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

When I bought this guitar I had never used a Floyd Rose. Being I that I had no clue how to use it. So it was always going out of tune, but as soon as I got over that hurtle I fell right in love with this guitar (Never had to tune it again until my strings broke a year later). The Emg's are like nothing I have ever used or heard before amazing power behind them. The light weight is also a major plus. If you are into any kind of intense metal music "This is your Guitar". It will deliver what you need.Only complaint is re-stringing it is a bear

a real review..

By Showmaster-ScQkq

This guitar simply is what it is. We guitar player's normally own more than 1 axe for a variety of reasons, This jackson DKMG is bulit for the shredder in mind. 2 EMG Zakk Wylde pickups(81-85), 2 octave fretboard, very low action and tremendous playability. I own MANY USA jackson dk1's, and pc1's. This guitar isn't in the same league by a long shot, but is still enjoyable to play when the song calls for it. I've managed to get great blues, hard rock and metal tones from this axe. Love it for quick leads! Down side, clean tones are very much lacking because of the pickup configuration. But remember, this guitar really wasn't built for that. Stays in tune very well, and if you'd like to upgrade your tone in a big way, just install a brass block on your floyd. it's cheap and will make you think twice about tone. pound for pound, it is just a fun guitar to play.. enjoy yourself..

MIJ Metal Machine!!!

By MulletMan Rock Star

See all my reviews

I've played many diferent guitars...active pups, passive pups...etc...So since this is a "metal" guitar Ill compare it to Ltd/Esp, Schecter C1, Ibanez RG in similar price ranges. Now all those manufacturers have great guitars as well it just comes down to what you like. Personally I like that the Jackson is the only one of those thats Made In Japan, the others are made in Korea or Indonesia. EMGs are nice(all the other brands offer active pups in same price range)...now the neck is what I like...it feels like a Ibanez wizard but just a lil thicker...I love the inlays and the compound radius seals the deal on this. I know with the ESP/LTD and Schecter you get a set neck but I prefer bolt on necks...bolt on necks work for Vai, Satch...It'll work for me. Also this Jackson has a sweet flame top on the red and the arch top is awesome!

I bought this guitar because I needed a new guitar and this one always stood out to me. I plugged in in to an amp and it it for a test drive and I was extremely impressed. It was very easy to play, smooth fretboard, fast neck and amazing pickups. I was able to play any type of music that I wanted to. if you're thinking about getting this guitar I recommend that you do.
