OVERVIEW

Tone as sharp as its headstock.

The Jackson DKMGT 2008 model has a sleek, sculpted string-through alder body with a carved top and flamed maple veneer for classic Dinky electric guitar style. EMG 81 humbucker and the bridge and EMG 85 humbucker pickup at the neck crank out crunchy rhythms and soaring leads. It also has a bolt-on rock maple neck with a bound, compound radius rosewood fretboard; MOTO piranha fingerboard inlays; and a string-thru body bridge.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

I have owned this guitar for about a year now and I am still in love with it. I own the transparent red, and I must say, the finish is beautiful. The rosewood fretboard complements the color nicely and is accented by the sharktooth inlays. Overall, this guitar has great looks. The DKMG also excels in playability. I have lowered the action a little and it plays great. The smooth neck allows you to play fast, which is something that I look for when choosing a guitar. My one complaint with respect to playability is the fact that bends may be difficult due to the wider radius of the neck. The EMG's sound fantastic, especially on distortion. Clean can sometimes sound a little dry, but with a tiny bit of gain, it again sounds great. I have only had two minor problems with this guitar that are able to fixed in under a minute. The first is the volume knob has become loose over time. This is solved by removing the knob and tightening the nut. The second problem is that the B string detunes very slightly every now and then. However, I have played a few local shows with it and have not had a single problem due to tunings. This guitar is a great choice for anyone who enjoys playing metal, or really any type of music. I have never preferred another guitar over this one.

EMG 81 bridge humbucker EMG 85 neck humbucker. The neck is sweeet, this thing sounds great through high gain amps and fender style amps, and I have both. This guitar will play any type of music well , molted metel, heavey metal, rock, country. I have all the high end guitars that you don`t want to scratch, this dkmgt will do as well if not better, except for the single coil. A great price for a guitar with its tone. Look at the pickups, the neck, the look, the price....it`s all good

    BUY THIS!!!

I played this guitar at my local music shop and it brought tears to my eyes. It had a setup 'cause a lot of people like to play it. When I first started playing it, I kept screwing up because it was sooo smooth and easy to play. The pickups sound better than a good set of Seymours, and that's saying something 'cause I love Seymour Duncan pickups. It's very comfortable because of it's original shape, and it has very unique inlays. Solos sound beyond beautiful on the neck pickup. It's warm and clean. The bridge pickup is crunchy and powerful. I'd chose this guitar over any ESP, which means a lot because ESP is my favorite guitar brand.....well.....it used to be anyway. (but then I tried this) I recommend this to ANYONE for ANY music style. It has an awesome sound on any setting and it even makes crappy amps sound good (I tried it on different amps)Not to mention, the reversed headstock is just plain sexy!

    Comfortable

This was the very first Jackson that I'd played on, played a few more since then, and I can't say that I was disapointed by it's tone quality, it sounded great. The thing that I found most noticable was the extremely thin neck. It was very comfortable, almost too comfortable, and made playing a breeze. I gave a lower rating on the value because I thought this guitar could be a little cheaper, but maybe that's because of the active EMGs. Still a very nice guitar.

    Unmatched Versatility

I was once a metal head, so I got this guitar, I loved it. Now I have opened my eyes to other kinds of music and I toned things down a bit. This thing still rips, I play a whole lot of blues, prog rock, indie rock, even bluegrass and alot of other, softer alternatives to rock, this guitar is so versatile. I can get screaming notes whenever I want with little effort and the neck allows me to be in 2 places at once. I use a Vox AC15 Tube amp, I have gotten compliments from my next door neighbors saying I sound like the real deal thanks to this guitar.

A ripping guitar for a good price

    By Tony G

I went to a music store looking to buy picks and naturally I picked up the first guitar with EMGs that I could find. Aside from the obvious great sound that EMGs always produce, this guitar felt great and was very affordable. When looking for a guitar to buy, I was looking for an Ibanez or ESP, but after feeling the comfort of this guitar, the great sound and the affordable price I couldn't say no. Buy this if you want a ripping guitar for a good price.

I just got this guitar today and I am blown away at it. The action is so awesome making the neck super fast and playable. the EMG's are great for high gain/distortion or for clean tones. Sounds awesome in drop D. Smooth knobs and sleek body looks really cool. Great sustain, and great for shredding. Overall excellent guitar.

    Good Guitar

    By Plummrod

    from Damascus, VA

I got this guitar about 9 months ago. I was very impressed with the quality and sound for this price. The EMG's are great. Turbo knob is not very useful to me, when on a clean channel the knob boosts sound about 20 db. On distortion, I can't tell any boost at all. I would recommend this Jackson DKMGT to anyone looking for a guitar in this price range.

I love this guitar....Its very versitale...you can play anything on it! The only problem well whic is really not that bad is I wish the 3 - way selector was a 5 -way.. but other than that, the transparent black is incredible...and the sound is perfect ...I reccommend this for people who play harder type music

    A Guitar For The Masses.

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

This guitar has shocked me among many levels. Just, there are no real words to describe it. I own plenty of Jackson's. From Kelley's to RR's to Dinky's. This is by far one of the best guitars I have to date. I play this guitar straight through a 5150 Peavey head that's hooked with a Behringer 4x12 slant. No pedals needed. Everything about this guitar is amazing. From the action, to the look, to the quality, to the sound. Nothing to me, can really beat this guitar. I really recommend this guitar for everyone to buy. Whether starting out or have been playing for years.

    Need no other

    By Yaniv

Well I have had this beast for a little over a year now. WOW. Aside from the knobs getting loose all the time this really is an incredible specimen for the price. I made a habit of buying a new guitar every year since I started playing in '96 but I think that tradition ended when I got this guy. The 20dB boost feature really comes in handy when the entire band is chugging out the low end and you need to paint the high end with the guitars pterodactile-like screeches. Word of advice--buy it.

    Wow

Had this guitar for 2 weeks now and I am blown away. I am a novice at best and this thing sounds great. Was considering a lower end gibson sg but I am happy with my choice. I have the satin black/ non-tremolo model. The emg's rock especially the bridge it is so bright and clear, I find the neck pickup a little muddy. The neck is the supreme feature here, it is so wide and flat, I have large hands and fingers but this neck suits me well. My first impression was how light this axe is. This baby shines with metal and rock music.

This is not a bad guitar

    By condemnedmetal

    from San Diego, CA

I bought this guitar and at first was really loving it. But I couldn't figure out why I couldn't slide across the finger board as easy as my b.c. rich. I noticed that the neck was a little dry instead of nice smooth feeling behind the neck and it was too thick and not wide enough. It came with good EMGs but they really sensitive. The control knobs kept getting loose and so I got tired of it and returned. It's a good side guitar to have but I just couldn't keep it. For the lack of features on it...it costs more than it really should. Above all that it's a really beautiful guitar and feels good when you have it on.

I got this guitar a little over say 6 months ago and i am completly impressed with the sound and playability. I got it at my local music shop and i have to say, once i picked it up i could not put it down. I would come to the music shop once a week to play it until i had enough for it. The neck has a beautiful rosewood finish and is extremely fast and playable.I love it!Hears an example of its awesomeness: In my local town there are a few bands that play and over half the bands that play with me ask to use it.GET THE TRANSPARENT RED <--its beautiful

    Killer!

    By locke-HId9i

I bought this guitar about a year ago, It's a great guitar but, the reverse headstock prevents the low e from staying in tune. I have one with a turbocharger knob, it's a good idea but, it doesn't work that well, other than that this is a great guitar. It looks awesome the tone is descent and the fretboad is smooth. It's a pretty good buy!

I played this guitar at a local music store, and I have to say, I love it! This guitar is beautiful in every way. The EMGs make a beautiful clean sound and handle distortion better than most pickups I've played with. It's very smooth, and has great tone. I'd pick this guitar over any other guitar. This will be my next guitar for sure. I chose this over many Gibson Les Pauls I've played.
