The DKMGT Dinky Electric Guitar has a sleek, sculpted string-through alder body with a carved top and flamed maple veneer for classic Jackson Dinky style. An EMG-81 humbucker and the bridge and EMG-85 humbucker pickup at the neck crank out crunchy rhythms and soaring leads. It also has a bolt-on rock maple neck with a bound, compound-radius rosewood fretboard; MOTO piranha fingerboard inlays; and a string-thru body bridge.
Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

overall a great brand, I own three Jacksons and clearly this seems like a rip off compared to the older model, they need to change the name. don't get me wrong I'm sure this new version is one "heck" of a guitar, but to me this new version is just another DKMG. I mean its not like they can't put an EMG afterburner boost switch as turbochargers aren't made no more as far as I know as the infamous third knob, a bound fretboard would make this guitar sound twice as good too and bolting the pickups directly in the body seriously if they did that I wouldn't mind a 100$ or so price increase as the tuners don't bother me and I don't mind if its bolt on. But still a simple name change and this would get a well deserved 10 for a non-custom guitar.
the old model is better in my opinion that I'd give a 10 with or without a coiltap, this guitar it seems like they cut corners by giving regular EMG 81/85s which lets face it is a huge majority of guitars out there , neither the pre-2002 model or the 2008 models have grover tuners and they got rid of a deciding feature for guitarists new and old and thats the turbocharger boost on the guitar, the old version featured this cool boost switch made by EMG which when activated by pulling up like a coiltap you could add or remove as much distortion as you want, I was sad to see that in all honesty as how many guitars have this stock and did I mention its an active pre-amp which gives you the same amount of boost as a PA2 boost on a Kerry King set. Mine don't have the licensed floyd rose, nothing wrong with those I think as its not the traditional you see on BC Rich and so forth guitars but just this guitar I didn't want a floyd rose. Its got a compound raidus neck which means chords near the top of the fretboard are easier to grab yet you can still do all your favorite solos near the 12th+ frets and lastly because I've gone on forever I actually like the Alder body on this , played a Jem worth double the MSRP and hated the alder body through a marshall JCM800 (i think) cabnet with no pedals and just went back to BC Rich or something in the store but this handles low tunings and everything a lot better.
flawless fretwork similar to my Dean Razorback shards I owned a couple of years back, extremely low action and I never had any issues with this guitar over the years believe me I'm very picky if I get even the slightest bit of buzz it bothers me. The tuners work as well as the day I bought them not like the Bronze series tuners on my BC Rich guitars which tend to die after a year or so of playing , this opinion based on more than one guitar.
lets break it down why a 4 , first the name, usually this doesn't matter but I don't get why they called this a DKMGT Jackson DK = Dinky . MG = MG series and finally T = turbocharged, the new series isn't turbocharged, that's like buying a cheesburger with no cheese, sure you still get your sandwich but the cheese is what made it special. It's like this series "grew up" and got boring, sure its just as well built, its got good pickups to most even though active emgs are lifeless sounding to me, they kept 80% of the guitars features so no complaints there but yeah, this is a hamburger to diehard Jackson fans but they're marketing it as a cheesburger is the easiest way for me to get my point across.

This guitar is great. I wasn't sure about the 81/85 after playing seymour duncans for a few years now, but they deliver. I play rock, metal, and blues and this guitar is insane. The only thing I'd change is I wish Jackson would make neck thrus for a price like this. But the bolt on is no big deal, I love it.

I've had the DKMGT for 3 yrs now. Never had one problem with it yet besides changing the pick up battery. I'm in a mainstream style metal band and this guitar deliver big time when I need to be thick and crunchy, But it also brings the heat when it's time to be melodic and beautiful! Top notch tone. By far my fav guitar that I own.

Great Guitar! I have the trans black one and have never looked back. It is an absolutely amazing guitar. The emgs are awesome and there is no feedback what so ever. It's great for metal and any type of rock really.

Ive had this guitar for over 2 years now, and it is amazing. The neck is perfect, the EMGs rock my socks and it looks great. Ive only had 1 issue with it and that was about a yea ago when the neck pickup stopped working. Otherwise, perfect guitar for metal/rock

This guitar is amazing,the EMG pickups really smoke through my Marshall jcm 800 combo. The neck is extremely fast and the action can be set very low(take it to a professional to be set up if you get it). I really can't say enough about this axe, it is more than I expected. Also, the flamed red maple top on mine is sweet and the alder body gives it great tone. Save some money and get a pro quality guitar for a workingmans price.

The DKMGT is a great guitar for metal or the cleaner sound like with an 80s rock ballad. It has a great deep meaty sound. I have a DK2 because I need my single coils too, and I also have the Floyd Rose version of this guitar (DKMG), and I like this one better than it's counterpart, but not quite as much as the DK2....but I REALLY love my DK2!!! :) either way, this is the best guitar value for the person that doesn't need single coils or a tremolo. :)
