There is no doubt this guitar can scream. Even though it's scream may not be the best EMG toned scream out there, it would still be a great present for as someone's second or third guitar. The Jackson JS30KV is the most comfortable V I have EVER played. The action on it was amazing, low, no hum. I cried when I let go of it, but I was ready to move to bigger better things. I owned this guitar for about a year, pre owned, no work done to it. It was about two years old once it got into my hands, everything worked great. I never had any problems with it's electronics or hardware. Just remember that you can not play this sitting down like a normal guitar, you have to prop it on your leg, take 20 minutes to get used to it and you'll just fall in love with it's sound. The stock pickups are great, but I would not suggest upgrading it. If you want better sound, I'd advise investing in something new. It's easy to tune, great sound, small price. One small I problem I do remember is that pinch harmonics feel really weird at first, other than that I don't see a problem. The Jackson JS30KV King V was my favorite guitar in my earlier days of learning. For the price, this guitar is great.
I am very happy with this guitar. I have been playing guitar for more than 4 years now and i am getting quite good. It is good for any style you want to pay. Bright pickups and good crunch. Very playable. Yes the imput jack is right where you would rest it wile playing sitting down, like i usually play. Simply shorten your strap to the point where the guitar is not sitting on your leg and more or less hanging off your shoulders. But back to the review. I aquired this guitar from my friends girl friend for free. you cant beat that deal with a stick. It stays in tune very well with the jackson machine heads. Shoot its nearly perfect. Yes it dose not have a tremolo. But a string-through body is my cup of tea. Much better sustain and the holes where the strings poke through the body are in a v-shape. Now thats classy. Now i have not had this guitar for very long. Around 4 months or so. All that has gone wrong is the tone nob fell off. But thats no big deal. Just grab a small FLAT HEAD screwdriver and put it back on. Yes it says starter guitar, but its much more than that. Yes most wont be luck like me and get this guitar given to me. But i would have paid full price for this axe. Don't let the beginner guitar term stray you away from this guitar. With 24 frets and two covered humbuckers it looks sexy and plays like a dream. 20th-24th frets aren't really that bad to get to either. No its not like a guitar with a "super strat" body style but its not bad at all. I cannot recommend this guitar more. You will be pleased with it. Bright sound for that early metal. But still heavy enough to keep up with todays metal. Or anything really. I love my jackson js30 king v. And you will love yours too. Thanks for taking the time to read my review. I really hope it helps you in deciding to buy this guitar.
i played this guitar at my local music store yesterday and it was great! the action was low, the pickups growled unlike most stock pickups. im getting one of these as soon as i get the money!
I bought this guitar at a pawn shop for me and my dad and i must say it was a serious upgrade from any other guitar i've ever played, or even toutched for that matter. The JS30KV Excells in duribillity, sound, and weight (its not too heavy). But one day I made the mistake of buying the wrong gauge strings for this metal monster, and now its sounds like a banjo. DONT REPEAT MY MISTAKE!!! buy the .0111 gauge, nickle.
