OVERVIEW

A helluva guitar with an affordable price tag.

The 2008 model Jackson JS30KV King V is an electric guitar wi scorching looks that come courtesy of its aggressively shaped alder body. Jumbo frets laid into a rosewood fretboard on a fast maple neck facilitate fleet finger work. Dual Jackson CVR2 humbucker pickups with master volume and tone controls deliver blistering tone that'll heat up the house.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

This is a great guitar! When I pulled it out of the box, I discovered it was born in India. My anxiety was quickly put to rest when I examined the axe. The only thing I noticed was the back plastic plate covering the electronics was not quite flush with the body.Next, I played the neck...impressive! Unlike the Gibson "V's", Jackson contoured the edges which makes playing much more comforable. The jumbo frets also makes for a fast neck (I had an SG once upon a time with the same feel).I immediately cleaned the guitar and changed the strings. The action was set a little too low, so I raised it to my satisfaction. The intonation was correct to my surprise and the guitar played extremely well. Before I bought the guitar, I tried to find out about the CVR2 pickups. Unfortunately, there was no information available. They sound like ceramic, although I can't say for sure. The quality of tone is impressive. They contain the right amount of "highs" which Gibson seems to be struggling to find on their 490/496/Burstbucker series.Since there is no vibrato system nor lockdown, the guitar plays easy and stays in tune. Also, there is better tone since most lockdown systems rob the guitar of this quality.Negatives: This is a "V"...don't expect to play this baby sitting down. Furthermore, this guitar is neck heavy. If you want a perfectly balanced axe, buy the body with a heavier wood.Overall rating: This is my sixth guitar I own and my third Jackson. I would rate this as good or better than most of my other guitars including Gibson and Fender.

This guitar was my second one following a b.c rich warlock. The warlock was horrible and this one wasn't a lot better. This was pretty cool because its a v and stuff but never buy a guitar based on looks. Sitting with this thing can really start to annoy you after a while. I was told this but I just thought I would get used to it. Thats not the case. Save up! the little extra time to get a good guitar will be so much better. Personally esp has been my point of no return. Ibanez is also good too. look around and remember to never get a guitar based on looks.

i would give it a 10 if it had a set neck or neck thru but what do you expect?
other than that. i see nothing wrong with it. i would reccomend it to anyone who doesnt want to spend a lot of money for a good guitar
i gave it an 8 on features because i wish it wasnt a bolt on neck. but other than that its great.
This jackson is sweet. the neck is awesome and the pickups arent as bad as people say.
however im thinking of changing them to actives.
either that or the setup that dave mustaine used in his king vs
I have no regrets, this guitar would be a lot better for me if it was set neck or neck thru, but for under 400$, its great

Eh...

By Swannie

Robbin Crosby would probably be pretty unhappy to see a King V without a Floyd Rose. Apart from that, this guitar isn't too bad. I'd prefer sharkfin inlays but thats got nothing to do with how it plays. For the price, it's got a good neck, but I'd rather have Seymour Duncans on any Jackson. Of course, it's an awesome shape. Not bad for a first or backup guitar.

Good Guitar

This guitar is great for beginer/intermediate guitarists. When I first tried out this guitar; I was shocked. It was not at all what I was expecting. Great guitar and a great investment.

SHREDDING AWESOME

By The Rev-aId05

This guitar is sweet! I've always loved V's. This guitar looks awesome, and sounds good... ignore the reviews which say it sound awful, with a decent amp it will sound fantastic! you won'tnoticed the fret buzz when you're shredding, this is a fast action guitar with killer looks. I love it and I still havent' taken the stock strings off, I haven't had time but it still sounds alright! If you're on a low budget and watn a killer guitar... here it is!

Great starter guitar!

By Josh Parker

from Morehead, KY

Well first off, I want to say that the people that have posted bad reviews about this guitar might have just got a bad guitar, or I just got lucky, one or the other. I've had mine for a little over 2 years now and it is still great. It has almost no feed back, and absolutely no fret buzz that other people said that theirs had, and plays amazingly. For the pickups, I was really shocked. I wasn't expecting them to be that great, but they turned out to be amazing for stock pickups. It is also extremely light weight so that was a plus for me. The only things that I wish it had was a set neck, the shark tooth inlays and a better set of pickups. It's hard to play this guitar sitting down to, but it's a v shape so what can you expect. Over all, just take good care of it and it will return the favor. Great guitar.

Not too great, not even for beginners.

By BMar

from Pennsylvania

An old bandmate of mine owned this guitar, and I must say, it sounded DREADFUL. Nothing we did could make this guitar sound better. It has unimaginable amounts of fret buzz, the pickups sounded muffled and didn't offer much for the clean or distorted sound. I think the only upside to this guitar is the look, and even THAT is lacking without sharkfin inlays, etc. I would NOT recommend this guitar to anyone, not even beginners. Save up a little extra and get a better model! You'll thank me.

Stick to made in U.S.A

By Astro*Zombies

from Palmdale, CA

Ive always wanted a jackson V so i finally saved up for it, of course when it came out of the box it had horrid fret buzz which was easily fixed with the trus rod wrench included but the fret crowns were HORRIBLE!!! i mean HORRIBLE!! The people who built it didnt care one bit for quality...looks like they dont follow the old saying in carpentry " Quality not quantity "...but i guess you it proves the term " you get what you paid for "....people, save your money for a better model if u want a decent jackson V.

VERY GOOD AFTER PICKUP CHANGE

By trixta

from Staten Island, NY

This is an amazing guitar. Its not that heavy. I've had mine for 1yr + & as long as you know how to take care of a guitar, you should find no problem with it. *This guitar is not ment for sitting while playing!* Keep that in mind while reading other reviews on the Jackson King V model. Definately needs a change of pickups when purchased. But overall is definately a keeper :)

Not a fan

By Swannie

from Augusta, GA

I played this at my guitar store and I didnt really like it. I'm a big Ratt fan and I kinda want a Robbin Crosly model, but this isnt it. It has no Floyd and I dont like dot inlays. For the price, the neck is really nice, but I'd fork out a couple hundred more and get a higher quality one.
