Comments about Jackson SLATXMGQ3-7 Soloist 7-String Electric Guitar:
I've been an avid Jackson player for many years. So it was natural for me to gravitate towards a Jackson when I decided to venture into the world of 7 string guitar. With that said though I tried out several other different brands in order to make sure I got what fit my playing style best. This particular model was very appealing to me and I just couldn't get it out of my head. I was skeptical of it being made in Indonesia, plus there wasn't one locally that I could play first before ordering. After much deliberation though I took a chance and ordered one from Musicians Friend. Musicians Friend has always been easy to deal with and I figured worst case scenario I'd return it using their 30 day no questions asked satisfaction guarentee. As soon as I opened the box on my new Jackson 7 string I was really taken aback by just how gorgeous of an instrument this was!The finish was perfect in every way and the sharp edged features really take this guitar to the next level cosmetically! The fret ends are very smooth with no jagged edges and the factory setup was spot on! That's rarely heard of even for USA custom shop guitars! The EMG 707 pickups really deliever the goods sonically and the floyd rose stays in tune as it should. One of my concerns before ordering was the 26.5" scale length and although it has taken some getting used to, I now feel comfortable with it. This extra scale length makes a huge difference in the string tension while doing lower tunings. This gives the low B string alot more stability than on other 7 string guitars I've played. The only negative that I can say about the guitar is that I'm not really fond of the placement of the pickup selector switch. It'll just take some getting used to. Overall I'm thrilled with my decision of purchasing this newest installment of the Jackson line and I'm excited to see what other new models they have in store for us!
