Like getting two overdrive pedals in one!

The Jacques Overtube Vintage Pro Overdrive Pedal is a perfect re-creation of the classic "TS" overdrive effect with the addition of the Jacques Cascade circuit. The Overtube gives you the same tone with exactly the same controls and control action on a original vintage TS. This sought-after tone has a nice, vocal midrange character that will make your solos sing.

In the past, famous pro guitarists have had to use two TS overdrive effect pedals to get that compressed high-gain overdrive sound needed for searing, over-the-top solos. The Cascade is a clever circuit that is completely equivalent to two Overtube pedals linked in serial. This increases the high-gain saturation and gives you the bite and sustain you've always wanted. Just turn the Cascade switch on and transform your guitar solos into melting iron magic.

I picked one of these up a about two years ago after reading about it on G.P mag. I've been using and enjoying it ever since. Works great in front of a clean tube amp. I do use the cascade feature and it works as advertised. Slathers on a tasty dollop of sweet, bluesy OD using single coils, or buckers. The only guitar I don't like usung it w/ is a P-90 equipped Les Paul. Produces way too much buzz. You can faithfully reproduce the much sought afer "Texas Boogie" tone w/ a decent Strat style guitar. I'd put it on par w/ the OCD. Buy one before they raise the $$$$ again!

A major improvement...

I always liked Tubescreamers for cutting through the mix. I always disliked them for loss of bass. The Overtube takes care of that to some extent. The bass is diminished when you switch this pedal on also but to a lesser degree, at least to my ears. The cascade switch kicks in another gain stage and really increases the highs to really help you cut through. I have only had the need to use the first setting so far because I am primarily a humbucker user. This combination provides a sweet, singing overdrive that is great for rhythm and lead. The only reason I didn't give it an overall 5 star rating is that unlike some germanium or silicon based pedals, it doesn't clean up as nicely when your volume is turned down. The construction is top notch- it really feels well built and executed. I'm a big fan of this pedal.
