Been playing slide off and on for 35 years. Usually used an electric or acoustic tuned to open G. Wanted to try a resonator that didnt break the bank. This darn thing is great. Been using it almost 6 years now, and have been gigging with it.
Now if your looking for a resonator to just play like acoustic i cant comment on that. I do slide in either an open G or open D tuning. The action is high, and i use heavy resonator strings. This pickups are crystal clear..loud and clean. For the price this cant be beat. I thought about upgrading and tried a few other acoustic electrics such as the Fender. They didnt come close to matching this little inexpensive resonator. Of course, most the other ones are not set up for slide.
If you want to try some serious slide action, especially in country, clean blues playing, folk or bluegrass this baby will work as good as anything you will find on the market.

I bought this guitar because I needed something to use in a country group that I was recently hired into. In my experience I've never seen a guitar in this price range that was totally unusable, until I played this guitar.
Right off the bat I had to replace screws in the pickup because it rattled and could not be tightened down.
The biscuit resonator produces an unattractive sound when the guitar is played forcefully, I was ultimately unable to tell if this was intentional or not.
A couple of months after buying it the pots underneath the knobs started to come loose.
It was ridiculously easy to alter the pitch of a note by pressing too hard, more so than a bad Fender Squire.
The intonation was unreasonably poor. A note played on the 12th fret was nearly a quarter step higher than it's respective open string. It proved difficult to adjust the intonation.
A string would not hold it's tune for very long, sometimes coming out of tune after 2 or 3 songs.
Due to the low price, I could see this guitar having some use for a beginning student, but even then the out-of-tune-ness would be very frustrating. It takes a skilled ear to play a guitar that is so sensitive and poorly intonated. I can honestly say that for a gigging musician this guitar is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

If you are looking to get into this style of guitar, I highly reccomend this one for the price. Wish thsy made a square neck!
Above average features on this cheap introduction to resonator guitar. The dual pickups sound very good blended together no mater if you use a clean or gritty channel. I am going to install a nut extender on this to play more bluegrass style. I think the features will make this a great sounding dobro.
It looks very solid and well built. I have a Turser Strat copy that I like as well. Playing this acoustic has a nice tone on it's own. Not quite as rich as my Fender resonator, but pretty close.
Great value for the beginner.
Comments about Jay Turser JT-900 Res Electric Resonator Guitar:
All the features met my expectations. I'm a professional player with a wide range of top of the line guitars and this one holds it's own for a fraction of the cost.
Nice features. The pickups are good and the controls are good
For a middle of the road guitar the quality on mine is great. Holds tune, straight neck, perfect intonation and no fret buzz. The action is set up perfect for finger style playing yet high enough to play slide comfortabley. Great tone and volume unplugged and plugged in and the electronics are good with low noise. I expected feed back issues but was surprised at how stable the guitar was even at higher volume.
You cannot find a better value. I played a lot of resonators from $3,0000 down to $300 before I bought and this one worked great for my needs.

When recieved very clean, no issues with shipping. I cant think of anything i dont like about this instrument. It plays and sound great for all the types of music i play. THIS RESONATOR JUST CANT BE BEAT. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TEST DRIVING THIS!!!!!! I own mine and figure it will be around as long as i am. This is the one resonator for me Thanks muscians friend for the best online experiance yet
All the component are great, there were no defect, I do recommend new strings and ajust the truss rod to improve playablility. Outstanding guitar
The workmanship in this is great, in almost all resonator guitars i test drove this is far better than some of the more expensive insturment i look at in nashville,Tn. Unbelievable value.
This can't be beat, with or without experiance this beats the sound and playability of any wood resonator guitars that i played LOVE THIS INSTURMENT

I'm having a hard time figuring out if i like this guitar or not. I couldn't find this or any similiar guitars in my local shops so this was the first time i played it when i received in mail.
Some questions someone might be able to help with:
Strings; it came with really light electric strings. I want more sound out of it acoustically, acoustic strings sound fine on it acoustically but not plugged in(not a huge surprise) , but they don't feel right on the neck either, the neck which doesn't have great play as it is, What are the resommendations for strings on this model?
Pick Ups: for the price I didn't envision great pick ups, these definetly need some boost. Any suggestions on pedals/pre-amps or a new installed pick up that would work well for this model? I've been experimenting on the efx from my digi 8track, but thats not preferable for live play..

it's about what i expected. there was some splayed wood inside the f-hole cuts and some misc sawdust/debris when arrived. Still debating whether it gets the sound i want or not
for the price its fine

Jay Turser Has done it again. The only trouble you will have with this thing is ( putting it down ) .
Has lots of twang. Action s straight and low. Control knobs are quiet and responsive. The blend knob has a detent in center position. I play it mostly unplugged but love the plugged in sound. The neck pickup has lots of bottom and mids. The bridge sounds bright like unplugged only louder. This thing plays like an expensive flat top. It takes a light touch with a slide to keep off the frets.
This guitar has the fine quality I have come to expect from Jay Turser. The finnish is remarkable. The neck is perfect with smoothe edges and straight as an arrow. The controls are positive and smoothe. The pickups have plenty of power. I won't change a thing but the stings.
You will get your money's worth and then some. You can't find a better deal out there. I did my home work and checked out Dobro Houndog , Fender Electric Resonator , Regal , National , and many others. My ear tells me how much a guitar is worth. Not the asking price. This a win win. Real bright twang, or deep rich tones, or blend the two through a recorder mixer or amp.
Comments about Jay Turser JT-900 Res Electric Resonator Guitar:
I own a few resonators and this is by far my favorite! I also own the Fender acoustic/electric resonator with the cutaway and although I love that guitar I think this one just sounds better for what I play. I play slide slightly distorted through a Fender Blues Junior turned up as loud as I can and it sounds great! Because or the Humbucker I can get that nice fat crunchy heavy sound when the volume level on the guitar up but if I want I can turn it down and turn up the Piezo pickup and get more of a traditional sound to play some mean delta blues. You can also mix both pickups to keep that resonator sound mixed with that warm Humbucker tone. I have even dropped this guitar pretty hard on the pavement and after the initial shock and feeling of stupidity wore off I just tuned back up and it sounded just fine besides a few additions of cosmetic character. It also sounds great acoustically and projects well when not plugged in. Overall this is a great guitar and would recommend it to any blues or bluegrass player interested in getting a good affordable resonator.

Great Resonator and great sound, yes I did have really bad fret buzz when I first got it, but I adjusted the truss rod and put on new strings and it played like a dream, I highly recommend it to any type of music.
