Kramer

A modern rocker's single-cutaway that is light, fast, and versatile.

The Kramer Assault 211 FR electric guitar features a single-cutaway mahogany body. A set mahogany neck has a thin taper profile that makes playing effortless. A 24-fret ebony fingerboard sports thorn shaped position inlays. The recessed, double-locking Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo bridge system won't get in your way and will keep you in tune no matter how aggressively you play. A plethora of great tones are generated by the Kramer Assault 211's Alnico V humbucking pickup in the bridge position and two single-coil pickups in the middle and neck positions. Controls include a master volume, master tone, and a 5-way selector. The volume control has what Kramer calls a "treble bleed" mod, that keeps your tone bright when backing down the volume control.

In the mid-1970s, when Kramer Guitars began, they were exclusively producing aluminum necked guitars. In 1982, Kramer cemented an exclusive distribution deal with Floyd Rose. Kramer guitars were also loaded with additional features like Schaller tuners and Seymour Duncan pickups. With the endorsement of Eddie Van Halen, Kramer became the world's best selling guitar in the mid-80s. The Gibson Guitar Company has bought the revered Kramer brand and has reissued many of the historic Kramer guitars and introduced modern design innovations as well. Kramer players include a who's who of rock guitarists with the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Ritchie Sambora, Mick Mars, & Vivian Campbell among them!

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

After 3 months of owning this guitar, I have really grown to like it. At first I was undecided and almost sent it back, but I kept working with it and now it is very playable. It was not rerady out of the box in my opinion.

I am a fan of the LP body shape and that is what lead me to this guitar. The FR stays in tune very good. The fretboard feels nice. Yes, it could use new pick ups and I may eventually do that, but for under 400 and all the features I felt I got a good deal.

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

Original setup was terrible. set up for garageband musicians. It's taken about 2 months to get this guitar RIGHT! Added 2 more springs. Balancing the trem for 10's took a long time. But now it is a beast!!! The bridge pickup that came in this guitar is awesome. I don't know where it was made. Korea? It Smokes. All the way up George Lynch. On 7 ZZTop On 5 Dreamy clean sustain. Ebony 24 fret neck... under 400.00 Took a lot of work but worth it. Stays in tune really good. Dive bombs and all. Middle and neck pickup are junk. No tone or volume with out feedback. Should have been a single pickup guitar. But isn't that what Kramer's known for. I love this guitar!!! If you are a blues guy with 1 12 or 1 10 fender don't even try it. This guitar is fast and agressive. Rock On>>>

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

For the price, this is an EXCELLENT guitar. I got it set up when I got it. It is the best guitar I have owned, price wise, and it is very good for bends, divebombs, and more or less everything metal related. If you are new to a locking trem, get this to start out. You will not regret it, but get a setup. VERY FUN GUITAR.

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

To summarize, this thing has some flaws but it's all acceptable for this price range.

I did have to perform a setup right away to make it playable (but that's not really a con, just a fact of life for a new guitar).

The licensed Floyd stays in tune well with heavy abuse...there have been times I've had to slightly float it back and forth to get it exactly back to center but it hasn't been a major issue.

The neck and body feel structurally sound, which to me is the most important thing about a guitar.

A lot of the hardware is loose and feels cheap, but I consider that not too major for this price range (although I will say I have cheaper Ibanez guitars which felt a little more solid brand new). I had to tighten my input jack right away. Additionally, the hex screw on the inside of the bridge (opposite of where the tremolo arm screws in) came loose with a little arm abuse and had to be tightened as well. The finish cracked slightly when I put my jack plate back on - I wasn't too happy about that but I'm probably going to do a cheapo spraypaint finish with it later anyway.

Overall, I consider some of the issues like loose hardware to be pretty minor considering the features this guitar has. Having the single coils and the humbucker, as well as the licensed Floyd, outweighs all of that. On sound, I do plan on replacing the humbucker due to personal taste, but the stock one sounds fine. The single coils also produce good tone (although I'm mainly a humbucker guy so I'm not too knowlegeable on that). It feels like a quality instrument, just with a few minor issues. You may want to be ready to have it setup to your tastes though.

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

Great Guitar Value!!! You need to buy one to see for yourself how good this guitar is for the price. The pearl white paint job was flawless and the tones and sounds were very solid. The pickups are strong and quiet with my amp setup. Very usable tones. The only marks I have against this guitar and the only reason that I almost gave only 4 stars, but the value is just so great that it bumped it back to 5 stars. The frets are a little rough on the edges, not sharp to hurt you, but they are not filed smooth and flush to the fretboard. My cousin is a guitar repair and setup guy and he can file those babies flush for me. Also I didn't like the angle of the tremolo floyd rose bar. It sticks way up in the air on my guitar even after a proper setup. So, the same guitar guru will bend this tremolo bar a few degrees to get it to a level that is proper. Other than these two minor fixes, this is one great guitar and is fun to play and will be one of my favs for sure. Set neck, great sustain and stable tuning...you should get one!!!!!!

        They Listened!

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

Finally a guitar that is versatile. A Strat and a Les Paul all in one and a Floyd Rose as a bonus. This guitar actually played well right out of the box which is rare these days. The quality of the parts and workmanship is quite surprising for this price point. The sound is bright and full and the neck is great. A friend came by as I was setting it up. He played it for a few minutes and went to the phone and called Musician's Friend and ordered one. Enough said. This is a really great guitar for the price.Hopefully Kramer is back to stay.

A new option for players tired of Strats

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

Any guitar that comes from a factory, unless it is hand crafted needs to be setup.I got this guitar because I've always wanted the features it had, but could only find them in a Strat style guitar. I'm tired of the Stratocaster. If you want to hear the guitars tone, I recorded a song call Waiting 4 Mondays on You Tube with this guitar. The guitar is going straight in to a Boss BR-600 with a little overdrive on it and no editing. It has a great tone with options...some guitars just have one great sound, for one style of player. This guitar is all about options. The built in treble bleed is AMAZING!!!I use my volume pot ALOT for tone control and now I can hear my pickups. One last note:It does not have a push pull tone pot like Musicians friend says it does.

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for about a month. After a little setup and tweaking, I found this axe to be very good. I played Kramers in the 80's, still have two, I also have three Gibson Pauls. This Kramer 211fr is truely interesting. Get it.

        Kramer Assault

        By StratMan419

        from The Future

Comments about Kramer Assault 211 FR Electric Guitar:

The Kramer Assault is a nice twist on classic Kramer features. It's a LP-shaped guitar, a nod to Kramer's Gibson owners, with a long-scaled fretboard and double-locking tremolo. Sonically the Assault is bright. It's tremolo stays in tune well. The single coils sound great and the humbucker is well-suited to leads and melodic styles. The guitar will need a set-up when first bought. The strings are set kind of high usually. Otherwise it's a great sounding guitar, whether played through a high gain Randall or vintage Marshall like I have done.
