Kramer

The modern rocker's single-cutaway that is light, fast, and versatile.

The Kramer Assault 220 electric guitar features a single-cutaway mahogany body with a set mahogany neck that has a thin-tapered profile that makes playing effortless. A 24-fret rosewood fingerboard sports thorn-shaped position inlays. A recessed Tune-o-matic-style bridge won't get in your way and a string-through body tailpiece design add additional sustain. Electronics include dual Alnico V humbucking pickups with a master volume, master tone with push/pull coil-splitting for additional single-coil sounds, and a 3-way selector. The Volume on the Kramer Assault 220 guitar features what Kramer calls the "treble bleed" mod that lets you keep your tone bright when backing down the volume control.

In the mid-1970s, when Kramer Guitars began, they were exclusively producing aluminum necked guitars. In 1982, Kramer cemented an exclusive distribution deal with Floyd Rose. Kramer guitars were also loaded with additional features like Schaller tuners and Seymour Duncan pickups. With the endorsement of Eddie Van Halen, Kramer became the world's best selling guitar in the mid-80s. The Gibson Guitar Company has bought the revered Kramer brand and has reissued many of the historic Kramer models and introduced modern design innovations as well. Kramer players include a who's who of rock guitarists with the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Ritchie Sambora, Mick Mars, & Vivian Campbell among them!

Features:

Let me start offby saying I have played about every guitar out there and this guitar 220FR (The black with the Floyd Rose) is the best guitar I have ever played and owned It sounds great, plays easy, well balanced, looks great. I could not find one flaw in the finish. I hav played $5000 les pauls that did NOT sond as good as this Kramer. Since Gibson bought out Kramer thay definitely upgraded this guitar to above and beyond the call of duty!!! The hot pickups and ebony fretboard makes this guitar sustain for eternity ! I bought this guitar for less than $300 here on MF and have to say GET one NOW!!!

Quality:

Top quality - not one imperfection!

Value:

Best guitar for the $$$

Overall:

The only thing I did to the guitar was lower the strings a little. Tha'ts all it needs!!! Trust me, get one if you can !!!

If all the Assault 220's are like the one I have, I would recommend this to anyone, beginner or professional. It is close to perfect for me...great action and sound. I only gave it a 4.5 for features because I wish this model came with an ebony fretboard (most of the other models do, but I prefer this color of body). I gave it a 4.5 for quality because some of the frets higher on the neck were a little sharp on the ends. Other than that I would say you could not go wrong with this guitar.

I own the black with red binding model and it is an outstanding guitar especially for metal. With the longer scale it is a bit neck heavy but the quality in every other area make this acceptable for me. The stock tremolo bar was of an odd bend and way up in the air, i was lucky and had an exact replacement only with the correct bend in my shop so now it sits parallel with the face of the guitar and is perfect. If you can deal with these two issues, once it is properly set up you will find the Assault 220 an amazing bargain (I paid $360) on a high quality professional instrument. Get one if you can. Peace
