OVERVIEW

A full size body with a responsive touch and great dynamic range.

The Etude is the most popular model in the La Patrie lineup. The Etudes specifications match those of the Motif (our sku# 513431) but with a full size body. Incredibly responsive thanks to the feather-light Custom Polished finish, this guitar features great dynamic range along with the harmonically rich sound that you usually find in a guitar several times the price.

Pressure tested top
All LaPatrie guitars feature select pressure tested solid cedar tops. Graded and tested for their excellence and structural integrity, this method of pressure testing each solid top ensures the highest levels of stiffness and rigidity along with maximum harmonic vibration. This benefits the overall tone, projection and resonance of these finely crafted instruments.

800 year-old wood
The wood used in these tops can be found only in previously fallen cedar trees that have an average age of about 800 years. Characteristically speaking, this wood features a tight straight grain, which produces greater rigidity while at the same time is flexible across the grain lines.

Custom polished finish
LaPatrie guitars also feature a Custom Polished finish, which is reminiscent of the French polish of the 19th Century. This Custom Polished Finish, as opposed to "thick" polyester finishes, allows the top not only to be protected but also to breathe and vibrate freely allowing the effective and very important "aging" process to take its course. This "aging" process means that every LaPatrie acoustic guitar will actually sound better and better the more it's played over time.

Carved neck
The necks on LaPatrie guitars are carved from Honduras mahogany and feature an innovative double-function truss rod system not generally found in traditional classical guitars. This system allows the profile of the neck to be reduced producing a neck of extraordinary comfort, while increasing stability. Each LaPatrie nylon string guitar is finished off with an intricate rosette, cream binding, rosewood fingerboard and bridge as well as Tusq nuts and fully compensated saddles by Graphtech. Case sold separately.

Comments about La Patrie Etude Classical Guitar:

This was my first and still only nylon string guitar. I got it around 15 years ago mainly because it was inexpensive and sounded good. I've had it with me in four different countries and climates and it's always sounded incredible and stayed in perfect tune.

Since I got the guitar I've become serious about classical guitar and have gone shopping for a "serious" guitar several times. But I've always stuck with my LaPatrie because none of the expensive guitars have sounded as good. Some have been easier to play but sound has to come first. Plus the Etude is comfortable to play. It's not holding back my playing in any way.

For this price you'd expect some of the parts to be less than optimal but I've never had a problem with the guitar. it keeps in tune perfectly and sounds awesome. I probably got lucky with mine but if all the Etudes are this good, it's a steal.

Comments about La Patrie Etude Classical Guitar:

This guitar is my sweet baby workhorse. I'm a music therapist, working in hospice, and play a lot at patients' bedsides. The mellow, rich sound, especially the creamy dark bass, without being overpoweringly loud makes the LaPatrie Etude a real jewel. I just love this guitar. I need a new one (after 15 years of being hauled around, then being dropped and landed on in the ice last winter, has left it pretty banged up. I still love it, though. And I'm getting a new one.

Comments about La Patrie Etude Classical Guitar:

Actually bought this local a few years back. After listening to other models I became concerned that it sounded kind of flat in comparison. Researched a little and found that it had laminate sides and back. This was not advertised and if I had know would not have bought it as you can get a better guitar for similar amount. My goof. Buyer beware.
