Has great dynamic range along with harmonically rich sound usually found in guitars several times the price.

The Etude QI Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar has a solid cedar top for characteristic cedar warmth and depth of sound. The Etude QI also features laminate mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, plus a rosewood bridge with a compensated saddle, gold "lyra" style tuners with pearloid buttons, Quantum I Electronics, and semi-gloss satin finish.

The Etude is the most popular model in the La Patrie lineup. It features a full-size body and is incredibly responsive thanks to the feather-light lacquer finish. Case sold separately.

800 Year Old Trees
All La Patrie guitars feature solid cedar tops. The wood used in these tops can be found only in cedar trees that have an average age of about 800 years. The tight, straight grain in this wood makes it strong in the direction of the string tension while at the same time flexible across the grain lines. It is this combination of rigidity and flexibility that give the top its resonance. The vibration of the guitar top is the most crucial element of the sound.

Lacquer Finish
La Patrie guitars are finished with a special lacquer formula. This finish is light enough to allow the wood to breath and vibrate freely. The tops resonating capacity actually improves as the guitar is played over an extended period of time. This gradual improvement in the response of the top is often referred to as "aging". Poly finishes inhibit top vibration and are therefore never used on LaPatrie guitars. Many other guitars use a thick plastic finish that smothers top vibration and prevents the benefits of aging.

Classics that are comfortable to play
Classical guitars of the past have typically been made with thick neck dimensions, while this promoted a certain amount of neck stability, it often made certain playing aspects difficult to execute. It is for this reason that special attention was directed to the neck design of the LaPatrie guitars. Neck width and string spacing conform to classical standards, but a new truss rod system allows the profile of the neck to be reduced producing a neck of extraordinary comfort, while increasing stability. The LaPatrie necks are carved from Honduras mahogany. All LaPatrie models feature a rosewood fingerboard and bridge.

Comments about La Patrie Etude QI Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar:

The fit, finish, quality of this guitar is amazing for its price. Laminated sides maybe, but, it is handmade, priced well under $1000 and the tone and playablity rivals much more expensive instruments.

Excellent value, mine is the Right Handed Version.

Comments about La Patrie Etude QI Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar:

I got one of these used, but not very, at a local shop. The price was right. It looked and sounded good to me then, and years later it still does. It's priced in the low/mid range. I think it should be good enough for most of us students of the guitar, with a good ways to go before our first world tour. Fine for practice and entertaining yourself at home, it plugs in if you feel confident enough to need that. A fine choice for the serious student on a budget. MHO. Deserves a good case, and decent care. Easy to tune, play, and care for. Seems to be well made for long term use. Has the tone you would expect with a solid cedar top. Would buy one again if I was in the market for an affordable nylon string guitar with the good qualities I have already mentioned. Not USA made, but pretty close to it, from Canada.
