Comments about Manuel Rodriguez Model "A" Nylon-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Basically this is another Spanish designed guitar outsourced to China resulting in a very poor execution. Although the model A had a lot of nice features on the surface they were done without any sense of quality or detail. The fret work was uneven, the neck surface was rough and not finished properly around the upper frets. There was even a loose fret.
I can't speak to the new "Model A" design, hopefully it's better. I can see they made some design changes that could result in a more playable guitar.
Comments about Manuel Rodriguez Model "A" Nylon-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Overall, for the money I paid, this is an amazing guitar. It sounds great, plays great, and looks great.
This guitar sounds fantastic. I play flamenco and love the tone and playability. It's set up higher than a true flameno guitar, but I make it work quite well and it sounds great. My guitar is a made in Spain version, I have noticed some of the Model A Cut guitars now in the store that say they are Chinese made. Mine sounds more alive than the Chinese ones. The pictures on all the websites for the Model A actually show the much lower level Caballero 10 Cutaway (the one w/ the curved bridge and dot inlays), which I owned before the Model A Cut. Middle and high end classicals don't tend to have inlays. My Model A Cut is light years ahead of the Caballero 10 Cut shown in the "new" photo examples. No comparison.
I am extrememly pleased with the sound quality of this guitar. The tone is amazing.
The guitar quality is very, very good, just shy of superb (I'll explain later). Straight neck with good intonation. Nice quality bone nut and saddle. Pretty back and sides, attractive wood rosette. Even the MR logo is attractive. I have three critiques after having played hundreds of hours on it: 1) When I am away from home and can't play it, I think about how much I want to play it--a lot, mine sounds and plays that good. 2) There are two strings that on a certain fret when fretted, barely touch the next fret up and it sometimes creates a noticeable but not blaring, high pitch buzz. Like I said, I've only noticed it occasionally on the 2nd and 5th strings, somewhere around the 8th fret only. Doesn't do it anywhere else or every time so it hasn't been that big of an issue. 3) The wiring inside occasionally rattles when I pick up the guitar or wipe down the strings (never while playing). I'm sure I just need to stick my hand in there and adjust it and it would be fine.
The onboard pickup is decent.
Very good value for my particular guitar - made in Spain, I got it on sale.
Comments about Manuel Rodriguez Model "A" Nylon-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Suggest you look elsewhere. The sound is not that great, kind of tubby and dull, nothing interesting at all about it. Just got mine and already decided based on what I thought I was buying versus what I got that in my opinion this one is not a good value even at the marked down price.
Caveat Emptor - Perhaps some kind of photo or versioning error, but guitar is not the same as the one pictured or described. On the one I received, there were no dot inlays, and the bridge is a standard classical rectangle, not the more elegant one pictured. Made in China not Spain. Neck is not close to true; noticiable upward bow under standard tune string tension.
Nice enough. But, in spite of what the description says, this guitar was not made in Spain. It clearly has a white sticker inside the soundhole saying made in China. I wish MF would start being clear about country of Origin. To some of us, this makes a huge difference.
If it were actually made in Spain, or even Portugal perhaps, it might be a decent value. But really, if it was assembly lined in China, it seems no better than other profit margin centric guitars manufactured in that way.
Comments about Manuel Rodriguez Model "A" Nylon-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
The best classical guitar I've owned. The sound is loud, clear and well-sustained.
Excellent intonation from the first fret to the last one. My friend who is a well-known guitar
player and band leader keeps commenting how he is impressed with its sound. The playablity is well above most expensive classical guitars in its class. I bought mine used from M.F. but it is still
far better than my other guitars that I bought new.
Comments about Manuel Rodriguez Model "A" Nylon-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Nice Guitar, I have had it for about 2 days now and love it, The action needed to be ajusted slightly but no problem, I am using Hannabach goldin med/high nylon strings, and wow very powerful guitar possibly louder than my other classical and for a cutaway thats saying something. I got this to do gigs, plugin is nice with a marshal amp acoustic, but i will use it without amp to0 cause it's so loud.
