I bought the Martin 000-15 about 2 years ago. I have several other acoustic guitars, but I play my Martin 000-15 more than the rest.I had a Highlander IP-1 undersaddle pickup installed by a local acoustic shop. I run it through a Yamaha Acoustic Magic Stomp acoustic processor, & then through a DI. I use Dean Marley ML strings for extra bass on the low E string.I have played many many gigs with my Martin 000-15. It is my guitar of choice. It is a very basic inexpensive guitar with a sweet tone. This guitar will stand up to other guitars twice the price. Excellent value!

Martin ooo-15

Ask me a question

Not a whole lot in the way of features on this one, but who cares? The thing just plays and sounds wonderful. I replaced the stock 12's with 10's but noticed a slight loss in volume and tone so I will probably go back to Martin 12's soon enough. The satin finish really gives it a vintage look that makes you feel like you just bought a piece of history; I never thought I would like satin but now I do. And the case it comes with is top-notch. There was a bow in the neck that was easily adjusted, so that was no problem at all. This guitar makes me want to go down and sit next to the train tracks and strum away...

The one in West Va was so memorable that when I can across a used on in very good shape, I sprung for it. It just feels natural in that without the frills you can control it better and it fits like a glove. The sound is never going to be bad and tows the mark. The whole thing is really a masterpiece for this kind of money. Mine is a 1942.

    All mahogany gloss

I found a custom version of this guitar recently. It has a reddish stain, all mahogany with glossy back, sides and top. I was looking at used 15 series, but after playing this custom 000 15, I couldn't resist and bought it. The sound and playability are amazing. A little more that the standard 15, but I've got one that looks like no others.

    My Left Arm!!

    By Pleasum

    from San Diego

I've had mine for about ten years and it has only gotten better with time. I have lots of guitars but always play this one. Amazing volume for a guitar this size and it is extremely comfortable. I will pass this one on to my son for sure. I call it my left arm because if I lost it, I would be crippled!!!!

I have owned My Martin 000 - 15 for three years and love it more everytime I play it. I own 4 guitars 2 Gibsons and 1 Yamaha. The Martin is by far the best. The day I bought it I spent 1/2 a day at the store trying all kinds of different Guitars for the price you will not find a better sounding guitar. Great Job Martin

    Great Guitar

    By M@rtin

    from Great Falls, MT

I've had a few guitars, and finally decided to spend a little more than I have in the past. I played tons of guitars well out of my price range, this one compares with all of them in my opinion. Looks, feel, sound. Everyone that sees it makes a comment on how beautiful it looks, and how they dont believe that that much sound comes out of such a small guitar.

    Unbelievable guitar for the $

    By Mike-E9fEn

All wood, lightweight, small body & huge tones. Nothing to complain about here, especially for a lower priced all mahogany Martin. Easier to handle & more compact than the D-15 (a more popular, larger & comparable Martin dreadnaught), but it can still generate plenty of noise.

    Martin 000-15

    By Ligie's Bubba

I had a hard time finding one of these to play, eventually coming across one in a small shop. Needless to say I took it home. When I first picked it up I was really knocked out by the feel of the instrument, very light, compact body with an amazing voice. Even with the dead strings that were on it at the time. I've opted for Martin's "Clapton's Choice" light gauge. Overall, the guitar's a bit darker than your average Martin, and it's very sensitive. Some say it's easy to "overplay" but I haven't seen that. The body is beautifully bare. I gave it an average on features as it doesn't really have any features. It's just a solid ( seriously..it's just two solid slabs in top and bottom!) beautifully simple guitar at a great price, and that's all it needs to be. I've had it for a month now, and each time I play it I get more attached to it. That's unusual for me as I sometimes get "buyers remorse" or see something I like better. I thought briefly about putting some electronics on board, but I decided against it. No sense in screwing with a perfectly good thing.

    My Fav acoustic

I got this guiatr for my birthday simply because, being a primarily electric player, i only had one crappy acoustic. This guiatr plays so well i sometimes feel like im playing an electric. Another thing i like about it is that its not the smae only spruce top acoustic. Its sound isnt restricted to mellow acoustic stuff either. I write funk songs with the singer of my bang using this guitar now, and i almost want to use this guitar to play the songs for real.

    Muddy

Muddy bassy tone-high action from factory-mine had neck twist to it-but being a martin it stin played nice-high action as I said until you see a Luthier. It smells like a cedar closet forever.Light and ultra comfortable-however-for the same money, yall can get a Larrivee OM-3 that sings and action is impeccable.

Good guitar, well worth the cost.

    By None-wlCPr

Great for solo, parlor play, and fingerpicking; it's voice is a little too bright when played with a pick, but is smooth and mellow when played with fingers.

    Martin 000-15, 2002, Customized

    By Chuck-YyElM

    from central coastal NJ

Bought a customized 000-15, and that includes new tuners, pickguard, and finish (high gloss). Only problem is that the action is a little high, which I have yet to get corrected, but is no big deal. Guitar is great for midrange sound, and not as much balls as a D-series type acoustic, or more specifically a dreadnought. Grow your fingers long, tune to Open-D, and play some gorgeous melodies. I'm not sure if the custom gloss affects the original tone, but mine get a higher pitched sound when strummed with nails or pick, and if I want to get good focus on the bass notes, I play them harder and tend to mute high E and B strings.

    A Great Acoustic

    By The Pink Erasers

    from Pittsburgh, PA

I've owned my Martin for about a year now, and it is by far one of the greatest guitars I have played. After about half a year I needed to buy a new acoustic for when I wanted a more "pop" sound due to how low the 000-15s is. The tuning on this is amazing. I play everyday and it can hold tune for months. I would highly recoment a humidifier when you buy this guitar because it it harmed easily by humididty. I had to take mine to get fixed once already. I would say for the price this is THE best deal on a Martin.

    Happy Birthday to me!

    By Dan Doherty

    from Batavia, IL

My wife bought this for me as a birthday gift, and I've barely put it down since. The tone is gorgeous and full, much more than I would expect from an instrument of this size, and certainly better than my other acoustics. It holds tune amazingly well, and the action and intonation are dead on.

    Sounds great

    By LA Guitarist

This guitar just sounds great, I can't play it enough, so beautiful. It isn't a fancy looking axe, however it is distinctive looking, very bluesy with the dark mahogany stain. It was a great value for me,, not wanting to spend 2-3k on an acoustic right now. I was a little surprised, it comes with a white plastic peg and a simple hole drilled in the end for hanging a neck strap (ok I'm just not used to that with my electric guitars). If you want a great sounding acoustic, right out of the box, this could be the one for you,, If you don't like the dark look, one could consider the same guitar with the spruce top version also available, but I bet it doesn't sound as warm as this one.

    Best American Value

    By Peter Hyatt

    from Maine

Before I purchased my 000-15, I did quite a bit of research into the 15 series, and into mahagony. I learned something very important:Guitarists around the country who owned very expensive Martin guitars owned a 15. They all seem to swear by it.It is probably the single best value for the dollar offered in the country. I believe that Martin makes the finest guitars, and this is a Made in the USA all wood, no frills, soft, beautiful and endearing mahagony guitar. Its looks are timeless, pre WWII beauty. The sound is nothing short of addicting. I took the time to write to owners of it; targeting those who owned guitars that retailed for over $4,000. They all reported a real love and dedication to this guitar. They all spoke of its beauty, color, simplicity and of its sound. I have had mine for a few years now, and it is just starting to "open" up. The smell is wonderful. I have one and one of my sons has another (00-15) which are both in Mahagony. For the price, I do not know if there is a better guitar made anywhere, but this has the Made In America quality that comes from dedicated workers who believe in their product; not from forced labor, or cheap labor overseas. This is an American treasure.I now own several Martins, but I turn, almost daily, to my 15, as its sound has no equal, especially for that soft fingerpicking that I do for my family. I love it and hope to keep it until I pass on, and leave it to my son or daughter to play.
