I am an EC fan and of course, I had to check out this guitar. The price was so high I thought I might have to sell my car. I have played this guitar and found it to be very pleasant. I played the same model in the John Mayer and found them to be very similar. The appointments are excellent, but I have seen better on Cheaper guitars. the playability was superb. The sound was excellent until I played a D-35 in the same showroom. Unfortunately, on the same wall was a D-35 the D-35 was much better and EC is a favorite player but the D-35 blew away this EC model in tone, naturally in volume but also in resonance playability and feel. It was not even close. EC is a little guy and I can see his affection for this guitar, but I am 6'4" and the D-35 is my axe, but we both have Martin in common. 4.5 rating because on no electronics of Florian cutawayThe good news is I kept my car, because I have a D-35 at home.
The guitar has the sweetest tone. Yes in many ways it is still a 000-28 but the voice of this guitar is different and much nicer. I have owned and played other 000-28EC's and this version of this guitar is heads above the standard Clapton 000-28. It has a much more rich and balanced timbre. The finish work and neck setup are flawless. The description of this guitar says that this is a collectible, well they are wrong this guitar begs to be played. To put this guitar in a case and store it would be a shame. Yes it is beautiful, but the physical beauty belies the gorgeous tones this guitar produces. I highly recommend to buy one if you have the money
