What more can I say. It's a Martin! It sounds, plays and looks great! Buy it!
This is my second Martin Acoustic Electric Cutaway in the HPL (high pressure laminate series) I always dremed of one day owning a Martin and now I have two! Thanks to Martin for making these awesome guitars affordable. I was magnetized by a friends HPL Martin and this cutaway stood out in the herd. I followed the "Les Paul" method of picking a guitar. I paid no attention to the name brand, the price or the aesthetics and really just played and listened. I bought this guitar because it rang out and felt great over and above some guitars price three times more. The "Stratabond" neck is solid and comfortable and the flat black finish is very attractive. It doesn't project as much as a deeper box design but it is plenty loud. The built in Fischer tuner and EQ really captures the personality of this guitar when it is plugged in. Some people mistakingly think of this as a cheap Martin but it held it's own against some higher priced Martins, Taylors, Breedloves and Guilds. Toy! I think not! More like the Tools of the Trade for the serious player. Pick it up and you won't put it down.
Compared to some guitars at over three times the price I would still buy this one even if money were no object. Smooth playing Satin finish neck, great electronics and an awesome black body finish make this a serious players guitar. It's smaller shallower box lends itself to a more comfortable feel. I use this to play open mics and at church and always get compliments from the sound man and the audience.

I had two of these guitars sent to and they were both junk. The frets were rounded off below the high E string, so you couldn't play a basic D chord. The action was nice and low; every string buzzed. Truss rod adjustments did not help. If you want a nice Martin, you will have to spend more than this.

I bought this at Christmas for my husband who has Always wanted a Martin, he is very happy with it. He plays mainly at church but everyone else likes to play it also so he is having to share.

I love this guitar. the quality is amazing, ive had no problem with it. the tuner is incredibly accurate unlike alot of built in tuners on other guitars for the price. I haven't found a single thing I don't like about it. I just wish it came with the case.

Could be better with some attention to detail!
I am just now at 51 learning to play guitar and this is my first acoustic. I have a fender Tele that i learned to set up perfectly according to fender specs. I decided to buy a big ol fender drednaught and I bearly could get my arm around the thing and it sounded tinny and hollow. I guess thats what you get buying a guitar sight unseen over the internet. So I returned it, and got this Martin. A person at the shop gave me a good demo, because I am just starting to learn some chords. It sounded very mellow and warm, so I bought it from Musicians Friend. When I recieved the guitar it sounded very nice, but the tuner is a bit dodgy. I t does not 100% agree with the tuner in my line six pod hd pro .Also very oddly the next day the stock strings sounded completely dead.So I put some Martin SP .012-.054's on it and is sounded nice again, These guitars are now made in Mexico, and that does not make me happy when you are buying a Martin. I found the guitar very hard to fret and realized there was 0 tension on the truss rod, and had way to much relief on the neck. After getting the neck where it should be, the action is still very high, and is hard on the fingers. I have learned every thing about setting up an electric, and have got my Telle and my deceased fathers 1959 fender p base perfect. I am scarred to file the saddle. because I don't want to mess it up. I am a bit annoyed that this guitar came so poorly set up, and now I will have to spend more money to get someone to set a less painfull action. The people at Martin assured me they are keeping a close watch on the Mexican guitars, but that does not seem to be the case. I am sure that this guitar when propperly set up will be a little gem, but some better qc on Martins part would be nice. Also it is near impossible to get a guitar strap around the combo end pin jack. Again I had to spend more money to get a specialized device to fix this.

I bought this guitar about five years ago and it quickly became my favorite guitar (I own three). I'm a small framed woman and the size of this guitar is perfect for my body. My other guitars now feel way too big! I also love the sound of this guitar; it has a beautiful warm tone. Plus, it's got great action, so it's easy to play even way up on the twelfth fret! I perform professionally and I also teach guitar so a lot of my life is spent around guitars and this is one great guitar. For the money, you can't beat it!
acoustic-electric guitar, small, thin, body, great action
Typical Martin- excellent quality!
Best value in a guitar. Many guitars in this price range sound...cheap!

I've been playing professional rythem guitar for 43 years and I just got this 000CXE as an early birthday gift from my Nephew and I love this guitar. This is my third CF Martin guitar and this has a really nice sound to it. Comfortable to play and I love this guitar! Black & Gold, My High School colors!
Comments about Martin 000CXE Black Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
i was checking out the merchandise of my local guitar shop when i just happened to come across this martin guitar. just seeing the gold coloured c.f.martin logo on the headstock brought about a bit of apprehension. however i was drawn to this guitar. it was quite unique looking. the simplicity of it's flat black color and the gold rosette that surrounds the soundhole are just classic. no flash! the sounds that are emitted are equally impressive. size wise the sounds don't carry as a larger guitar. yet this is what sold me. i'm not a tall person, hence the ooo body size suits me fine. it is what it is. also the fishman electrical components are quite impressive if ultilized. this guitar is a pleasure to play. it has given me a continuous amount of joy since i purchased it!
Comments about Martin 000CXE Black Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I bought this martin as my first ever Martin. It plays wounderfully, with a decent low end, stable middle, and perfect pitched highs. I have a special woods D10 birch Washburn, which I love, this blows it away. It isn't some massive dreadnaught so don't expect huge projection, but for studio, or basic strumming it can't be beat. It is lightweight, and travels well. Neck is laminate, as is the body.
