I bought this little beauty to replace an old Yamaha 335 that served me well over the years. I have this guitar aboard a boat. It handles the environment well and has remained stable and clean tonally. No warping or deflection of the neck noted after a couple of years aboard my boat. I have been really happy with the ability to stow it overhead when I fly, it fits very well in the overhead on most planes.

I love this particular Martin. I've owned it for a few years now and have enjoyed it immensely.
Martin's use of materials is pretty amazing. Only time will tell how this type construction will hold up but so far I've had no problems. Fit and finish are flawless.
It sounds great either unplugged or with an amp. The controls are inside the sound hole and easy to adjust. Tone is very good and consistent.
The only thing that bugs me is the location of the battery. It is inside the guitar and can only be changed when the strings are removed or loosened. I'm guessing that someone who performs a lot also changes their strings frequently and thus the battery as well. But if you leave it plugged in the battery will deplete sooner and could surprise you if performing.
The top finish on mine is slightly porous and may stain a bit from sweat. That adds character of course but something that neat freaks may find bothersome.
Otherwise it's a great Martin guitar for this price range. If mine was stolen I'd get another one.

I bought this guitar after a bit of a journey in finding the right guitar. I had too many guitars that weren't getting enough play time but the one guitar that I really enjoyed the fit, feel, sound was a Little Martin (LX175) -- NOT a top end Martin by any stretch (HDL, stratabond neck, etc) So I went on a search for a larger version of the Little Martin. After liquidating a few of the unused herd, I was in the market for a guitar for around grand.
I visited by local music marts and tried out Martin's of all shapes and sizes and finally found that the 000x1ae as the size that fits my fingerpicking style. The dreadnaughts were too big (I hold the guitar in a classical pose) and this one really performed. Spruce top and HDL sides sound great. And even though i could probably have swung a much more expensive guitar, it picked this one as was happy that I did.
The top is NOT mirror finished and feels more like wood than finish. The sides are HDL and is pretty indestructible. The neck is confortable and very playable.
Also, if you wonder why there are two 000x1ae's on the site, this one is cheaper than the other 000x1ae on this site. The reason for this is that it is last year's model. The sticker inside the sound hole reads just like the title. That's the only difference.
