Martin

An all-mahogany dreadnought with cutaway and Shadow NanoMag Pickup.

The Martin DC-15ME Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Case is constructed of genuine solid mahogany for a warm, full tone with distinctive character. This Martin D 14-fret dreadnought with cutaway also features a bone nut and saddle, diamond & square fingerboard inlays, and a satin finish. The mahogany neck with solid East Indian rosewood fingerboard adds to the guitar's acoustic warmth. If you need to go electric, the Shadow NanoMag Pickup is ready for faithful sound reproduction with volume and tone controls discretely mounted inside the soundhole.

Structure of the Shadow NanoMag Pickup
NanoMAG combines various, high-quality Samarium Cobalt magnets with an air coil and active electronics, all encased within the smallest of packages. The small size of the NanoMAG pickup allows for installation at the end of the fingerboard. Because of its subtle construction, the NanoMAG mounts nearly invisibly and without detracting from an instrument’s aesthetic appearance. Moreover, epoxy resin and a special, highly conductive silver-platinum plating provide a shield that, in combination with active electronics, helps transmit a hum-free, low impedance output signal.

Sound Characteristics of the NanoMAG Pickup
The NanoMAG’s low impedance output, responsible for an utterly noise-free signal with excellent dynamics, also maintains perfect balance among strings. Low impedance signals, in contrast to high impedance, have the advantage of much greater power capacity, which makes them less sensitive to disturbances. In other words, low impedance signals deliver more power, less noise and, as a result, simply sound better. The NanoMAG’s open sound thus carries over what is so essential to an acoustic feel: overtones and harmonics of a completely natural sounding character. Includes case.

Comments about Martin 15 Series DC-15ME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar without hearing the way it sounded first. I read the other reviews and trusted that Martin&Co wouldn't disappoint me. I am happy with my new guitar. It plays and sounds great. Plugged in sounds just as good as unplugged. This guitar stays in tune very well. It is hard wood so she should last hundreds of years. I love 'er.

Comments about Martin 15 Series DC-15ME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Since none of the Martin dealers in my area had an D-15 variety guitars in stock, I was unable to play this guitar before making the purchase. I was reluctant, but the several on-line reviews raved about the sound. I was also able to find a YouTube video of someone playing one, so I took the plunge. What a GREAT guitar. The sound projection is tremendous, even without amplification, and the pick up is much better than a typical pick up in an acoustic.

This is my 3rd Martin (DCM and DCXE) and I love it. It arrived on Thursday, and I played a bar on Friday night and a winery on Saturday. My duo partner played his Taylor, but I know he was envious!

Comments about Martin 15 Series DC-15ME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The Nonomag pick up is a good one. I opened up the guitar and picked it up and it was almost in perfect tune right out of the case. I precisely tuned it and sounds amazing. I looked up the serial number online and found that my DC-15ME is one that was manufactured in March of 2012. The guitar has excellent mellow tone to compliment my accoustic pieces that require a shade of base and mellow harmonics. The mahogany is a perfect compliment to my Carvin guitar which has more bright harmonic accoustics and when dubbed together on a duet implements an excellent dual sound compliment. I recommend this guitar for its quality and workmanship. Will not let this fine guitar go.
