Martin

Most affordable spruce-top solid wood Martin ever, and only available here.

This Martin Custom D Classic Acoustic Guitar is the real deal and a real steal. Crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, the mahogany Custom D guitar also has a tortoise binding, modified low-oval mahogany neck with a mortise-and-tenon joint and adjustable truss rod. Solid Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and inlaid single-ring rosette complete this Martin guitar. The mahogany body on the Custom D guitar is much lighter in weight than rosewood, koa, or maple and yields a surprisingly strong, loud sound with an emphasis on clear, bright, airy trebles. Quantities of this custom Martin acoustic guitar are limited. Includes case.

If you're looking for an all wood, American made Martin acoustic guitar at this price point, this is without a doubt the way to go.

After playing it for a couple of weeks now, I would buy it again in a heart beat.
I love the satin finish of this all wood beauty. You can smell the wood as soon as you open the case.

The tuning machine have the Martin logo which tells me they were serious about making a quality guitar. This was somewhat of a surprise since there were no pictures of the back side of the head stock.

The rosette could be a bit nicer but you won't get that at this price point. It is however inlaid and not a decal. This is my only knock but it's a very very minor one. It would not stop me from buying this guitar.
Top notch in my book. Very comfortable to play as the action seemed perfect for me right out of the case.

The Sitka spruce top and Mahogany sides and back are very nice.

The Tortoise binding is a nice touch also.
I looked at (and played) a lot of guitars in this price range (up to $1500) and after reading the reviews I decided to take a chance. Honestly, I could not be happier with my choice.

I could have spent more if I wanted to but for the money I spent I feel I got a truly great guitar.

I own a Martin D-15M and it's my favorite acoustic, I absolutely love it, it's my go to guitar. I found this one used and sounded like it was a very close math and got a great price on it so though it would make a great travel guitar. I must admit, I am very disappointed. The action was very high, I di manage to make adjustments, put Martin strings on it (big mistake, they're coming off) and gave it a complete overhaul. The tone is NOTHING like my other Martin. It doesn't play as well, sounding and action of a much cheaper guitar. I was hoping this would work out, I am going to change the strings again and hope for the best. Even the tuners on this or different than my Martin. If I can't make this somewhat resemble the sound and feel of my other Martin, I will sell it and move on. This "custom" made guitar made especially for Musician's friends was a very poor attempt at trying to emulate a good guitar, I thin they failed and I got my D-15m for the same price they are selling these for new.

My new custom D was perfect right out of the box. Easy to play and the sound gets better every day. l own more expensive guitars and this one holds it own with guitars that cost 2-1/2 times as much. I was excited to find a mahogany Martin, I prefer the way mahogany sounds and this one does everything I wanted.

Comments about Martin Custom D Classic Mahogany Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Blown away when I opened the box and case. Arrived in great shape. Love that smell that hit me as soon as I opened the box. Fit and finish on this instrument are excellent. I love the satin finish. Really lets the wood stand out.

A solid all wood Martin, made in the USA. Yes, you can buy a cheaper guitar; but for the money you can not go wrong with this guitar.

Sounds incredible, quality construction all the way. In tune right out of the case and it has stayed in tune.

This is my first guitar, and I wanted a Martin after visiting their factory. I do not regret this decision one bit. I have a good friend that plays professionally and uses a Martin acoustic/electric and he even commented on what a nice guitar this is.

Musician's Friend answered all my questions and then some. Well worth the little wait.

Comments about Martin Custom D Classic Mahogany Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Very good Martin for the price. Frets better than my Gibson B25, which frets better than any guitar I've ever played. It needed no set up, just unbox it, tune it, and play end (or beginning) of story. It's very light compared to similar guitars I've had and played. Since I've only had it a few weeks I can't rate it's durability. The sound is good but not quite as"bright" as my Hummingbird, but it also cost considerable less.

I've owned several models of Martins nothing below D-16GT until I purchased a Custom D.This is my second one and I love this model.Great sound, quality, playability and made from REAL wood.Guitar is extremely light in weight but LOUD. And it has the Martin "made in the USA" craftsmanship at a truly affordable price. And it comes with a hardshell Martin case-just open it to get that great mahogany wood fragrance.Who could ask for more.

An old company like Martin is to be commended for remaining competetive rather than resting on their laurels and charging a fortune simply for the name.
Guitars like this prove that Martin still continues to provide real instruments to musicians that are heirloom guality at a price that is affordable to the working man...and amazingly they manage to do this with a 100% made in the USA instrument! Astounding.

This a great guitar at a very affordable price. It plays very easily- good action right out of the box. Tone is very balanced, but slightly tinny. I'm pretty sure it is because the strings are new and the spruce top has not been seasoned. It is the easiest guitar to play that I have owned to date. Very comparable to my Breedlove. For the money its a fantastic deal. Can't wait for it to age and the sound to mellow. Purchase and enjoy!
